5 Reasons Why Full Body Workouts Build MORE MUSCLE! | (NATURAL GROWTH!)

  • It's been 7 weeks since I started training with Full Body Workouts and I currently weight 188lbs! Before I started I had a hard time maintaining 182lbs! But because I'm training full body 5 days a week I'm subconsciously eating a lot more because I'm ALWAYS hungry.
Also, I can't quite say that I'm "bulking" in the traditional sense of the word though. I mean, I AM bulking, but I'm listening to my body and feeding it when needed. Not just forcing calories down my throat for the sake of it. I would call this more of a LEAN BULK.
But I think most of the newly maintained weight is in my legs. You'll be surprised how fast your legs will get THICC from squatting 3 - 4 days a week. Not that they built all kinds of muscle, but they were the last part of my body that still felt / looked quite deflated when compared to before I moved to Florida 2 years ago. I'm sure its a combination of Muscle Memory and increased calories that is the cause of the increased weight.
Regardless, this just goes to show you that as a Natural Lifter, you can really push your limits beyond what you though was possible with Full Body Workouts and the changes happen FAST.

Hi Scott I would like to ask you about the lower back specifically the spinal erectors.
Is there a way to stretch them specifically because whenever I squat and Deadlift even when I bench I tend to get craaazyyy sore afterwards? I know 100% it has nothing to do with an injury or something weird it is soreness but it lasts for way too long and I won't be able to train more frequently.
I use a medium amount of volume in my workouts around 4-6 on squat bench and deadlift and 8-12 for other compound exercises and isolation exercises. That is my personal traditional rep range it can vary sometimes but typically I tend to stick to this rep range.
I am aiming to start a upper/lower body program and once I start getting used to that I want to get used to full body training but my back is always messing me up.
So I really want to know how I can treat my messed up soreness in the lower back area so I can increase my training frequency.
I heard it is bad to foam roll the lower back specifically with a foam roller.
What stretches should I do to minimize soreness and recover faster?
Hope it wasn't too long and thanks for your help Scott really appreciate all the help I can get

@@abdulrahmaniskan7267 when you squat and deadlift, how much are you focusing on BRACING and Keeping your core tight? Are you taking in a breath and holding it during the rep? Are you using a belt?

Yep my technique is very solid and have also gotten help From Bryce Krawczyk the powerlifting man himself owner of the Calgary Barbell gym and channel so nothing wrong with the technique full solid bracing pattern thanks to him.
I don't know if this is relevant info but my arch when I bench is bigger than the average person and I tend to extend my back slightly more than the neutral position that is usually needed when I squat but more than that I don't know. For the deadlift my back is neutral and I brace properly for all lifts.
Please help I know I need to train more frequently but my damn lower back though 🤣🤣🤣

Then divorce took me away from the gym, got back into training a yr ago, I got lost in you tube vids, bro split workouts and specific muscle groups. Thank you for taking me back to my roots and the full body workout, I Will put a routine together and get back on saddle.

I've been doing full body for 10 years at least, and gains are much more significant than ever before, when i did bro split. Not even comparable the two. Based on my own experience i'm 100% sure that for a natural recreational lifter who can afford 2-4 training per week, full body is superior.

THAT is whats been missing for years. I remember when i had my first york dumbbells as a kid and that had a full body workout chart. Maybe the old ideas are the best... Keep up the good work Scott.

It's all about listening to your body - it's amazing it took people so many years to realise this (including me!) By not having 'a program' per say just makes things so much easier. Train what you feel needs training that day, rest when you feel you should, eat as much as the body demands and enjoy life without worry about unimportant things. Great video!

Thanks for the motivation coach, I am 5 months past my catastrophic injuries. It’s time to start rebuilding. I am going to have to adapt and improvise, squats will be interesting as my shoulder isn’t mobile enough for normal squats or front squats. Safety bar may be in order. Ankle mobility has a bit to go. Also dr advises I avoid exercises that put direct load on the shoulder , dips, over head press and flys are no no’s , also benching it is recommended I don’t go ver y heavy. It’s gonna be a humble day when I go to the gym and have to start with tiny dumbbells. It will be a journey and I’m ready to face the challenge. Right now lifting a gallon of milk is an effort , that shall change. I may even be documenting my journey to help others who have been handed a unexpected blow.
Rock on coach I wanna see you at a lean 190 to 195. It will be superb!

What sort of mix would you suggest for to swap to full body on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday.? I’ve got spend enough days at the gym to give my wife her ‘quiet time’, usually in the afternoon. Oh, by the way, I’m 63 going on 64 and retired.

Great video. That's how the silver era bodybuilders trained. Does it take longer in the gym though for a workout? Are you training morning and evening workouts due to time for each workout?

As long as you start most workouts with a heavy compound lift then build on it to concentrate on those same activated muscle groups, hell yeah. Deadlifts, barbell bench press, front squats, back squats, are very effective starters. Front squats especially! They suck, but worth it! Full body workouts are great for rapid overall strength increases, but once that plateau is hit, a switch to lower reps, higher weight is needed. The cheat and recover program Scott has is perfect once you've passed your own personal baselines.

Hey Scott! Any tips for middle to upper back pain? It started yesterday (rest day). I rolled and stretched it today and it felt good, did my first set of bench and then I could barely sit back up because of the pain. This is my first back injury and I’m not sure exactly what the cause was but I believe it could be from hip thrusts. Any info will help me thank you!!

I switched over a couple of weeks ago. In still getting used to it. One benefit of bro splits though, is that you have a week to recover from something, like if you tweak your knee you can stay off of it for six days and let it recover instead of getting back on it the very next day.

One thing i notice ever since i started fullbody are those prs. Its constant progress and you're lifting weights you didnt even expect to lift. So fullbody is excellent for both hypertrophy AND strength training. And the reason is recovery. You have more time to recover then a typical split like ppl or bro split. You got time to relax, sleep more, eat more, and do other activites outside the gym. But when its gym time, you are gonna get pumped since you only go 3x per week (at least for me). I wasted my first year on bro split and it sucks doing that with little progress. Getting in a year into fullbody and damn my progress got tripled. So in conclusion, try the fullbody split! It works

I've also started doing this Nuclei overload training doing 3 sets, 10 - 12 reps (Full body). But I've had numbness in my left hand especially the pinky. But I wasn't aware it was because of the training. Is there something I could do differently that wouldn't have this effect? All of this started in week 1 and done it for 4 weeks. It took 2 weeks to almost fully recover from the numbness. Normally I would have DOMS on my muscles when I only trained them once per week directly, but with this training method I don't get DOMS or almost none muscle soreness.

I've been training 35 years with different methods and I am favoring a full body every second day to be the best. For beginners push-pull, or push-pull-legs is a good one, but eventually you build up stamina to train fullbody every second day, but I never designated certain weekday for certain muscles, I always just rotate the order, whether it is 1, 2 or 3 split.

I find myself full body is good to change things up for a while to stimulate some new growth through adaption to a higher frequency over volume but ultimately Ive always found it has its drawbacks long term.
I started lifting doing a full body split back in the 90s for my first couple of years of training and have gone back to it a few times since (even quite recently for a while doing home workouts).
For me the drawbacks are when you start to put on muscle bulk and notice areas lagging then have to address those areas it can be a lot harder with a full body split without adding more volume weekly overall, which then makes the workouts longer or one of your restdays becomes a workout day.
Also I found over time some muscle groups for myself personally responded better to higher frequency where as others needed more recovery time.
In terms of motivation I found a full body can at times feel mentally draining. even whilst having 4 different full body workouts a week with different exercises hitting the same muscle group 4 (example) times a week can feel like groundhog day. It can take the fun out of even your favorite exercises or muscle groups.
Personally Ive found more success with a bro split over the years working with more volume and more recovery per muscle group as my mainstay default programming then when i feel my body needs a change I'll switch to a push pull for a while, but push pull could just as easily be substituted for a fullbody split as both I'll only do short term 8-10 weeks

Hey Scott, I was wondering about the intensity. In PPL your intensity is high because you will have a couple days to recover before hitting those muscles again, so when doing full body do you lower the intensity compared to when doing PPL?

    • @tonyvee5799
      @tonyvee5799 3 роки тому

I would . The ppl legs you do about total of 10-11 seat for chest . shoulders maybe about 5 and triceps 4-6 sets so yes you have to give yourself 2-3 days before you hit it again . With FBW you will do less. 5-6sets and do FBW every other day so you can recover better . But doing FBW every day hmmm I don't about that.
