Steve is by far the greatest Australian gold medalist, I hate the way he is betrayed at times. Sport is a measure of skill, patience, hard work, dedication, commitment and honour. It’s not only hare and tortoise it’s the first ever gold medal for Australia. Not a bobsled team. One dude. One of the top ten lessons in life. Steve, your a parable .
Luck had nothing to do with this victory. The one trait that all great champions possess is they know that intelligence counts for a lot. Bradbury had that in spades. He knew his limitations and he competed with that in mind. Hence he became a great Champion. We Australians now have the saying "Doing a Bradbury". Most people erroneously believe it is a saying about "Luck" when actually it is a statement about "Intelligence". It actually means "achieving an unexpected or unusual success". No mention of "Luck".
They are legends, used to listen to them calling origin 3 times a year every year. If only they had gotten better seats, someone kept interrupting their view every ad break, it's almost like they were watching the same TV feed I was 🤣
It's actually very good strategy. He knew he was the slowest skater going into the finals, so he purposefully went a little bit slower because he knew the only way he would win is if everyone else wiped out but him, and the best way to not wipeout is to hang back a bit. Basically he had the choice of: Skate hard and lose if everyone else skates perfectly/Skate hard and lose if everyone wipes out and take him with them, Or: Skate soft and lose if everyone else skates perfectly/Skate soft and win if everyone wipes out, not taking him with them. There was only one way for him to win.

"Steven drops into the traditional Australian position in this event" xD
thats fucking brilliant
Dates!
I was laughing so hard. It was awesome.
The other two just stumbled frantically into the finish line to grab whatever medals was left.
God I’m glad I got to see the Australian commentary, saw in a different video that the commentator went nuts and they were correct
Isn't it fake though?
This wasn't the live commentary lol
This has part of the aussie live commentary ua-cam.com/video/4Z6GnUTVAF0/v-deo.html
Everyone should listen to his interview on the Conversations program on the ABC app. An amazing story about how he got there. What an Aussie legend
If you think he was good there, you should here him speak at a convention,,,,,he does the circuit.and is hilarious

He still did have a crapload of luck to win this, however it was his only strategy. Plus it is funny as!
I always thought doing a Bradbury meant cruising to victory because everyone else fucked up
Isn't that the very definition of luck, an unusual or unexpected outcome.
And on this day the great Aussie saying " he did a Bradbury " was born 🇦🇺
Is this Roy & HG? I reckon this is the best Australian Olympic moment ever!
Yes lol
Cathy Freeman and this

It’s strategy he did it on purpose
But when your strategy is solely dependent on luck, it's not a very good stradegy
Kendrick Mott nah it’s fool proof 100% Guarantee 👌
