Вставка
- Опубліковано 1 жов 2024
- Toei rehired Gingaman's head writer Yasuko Kobayashi to finish off the 1990s with their latest series, Mirai Sentai Timeranger. Timeranger dealt with a group of cops that are forced to chase after a family of criminals into the year 2000 where they join forces with a man living there to stop the Londerz Family from altering history. Is Timeranger worthy of your time or should you spend your minutes elsewhere? Watch to find out.

Timeranger has my favorite toku opening ever hands down
GO OVER TIME AND SPACE
lol That opening is freaking bad ass.
Liquid Pestar Changeman was the best
It's also the first sentai to have a female sing the opening
Kaiju no Kami timeranger is a great sentai😊
To be honest, I prefer the Power Rangers Time Force theme over the Timeranger OP. Just my opinion.
In my opinion this sentai is topped only Dairanger. With the exception of the mecha fights everything about it is done so excellently. The focus is on the characters and their development, the dark nature feels natural, and the way the villains were written was very intelligent. It's also interesting how the villains can technically win in an episode even if the monster is beaten. However I should point out that accel time is used after it's debut at least a few times
Timeranger is in my top 10, but probably closer to 10 than 1. There's just so many epic Sentai shows in the 90s that makes it a hard mountain to climb.
Storymaker2 diaranger is the best sentai timeranger, zyuranger, carranger, hidden ranger jetman, bioman,Megaranger,Gingaman and hurricanger are great sentais👻
Kaiju no Kami great ranger is the best sentai in my opinion😜
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork though I have to say, the script writing was great. I don't know how to judge by your "continuity" as it seemed fine by me.
Also, can we not ignore the iconic beret throw before Time Fire morphs? XD
30:45 Actually, Accel Stop gets used multiple times after it's introduction, it was just reworked into that attack where they spin through the air like helicopter blades. Still has the same name and implied effects of increasing speed at the cost of a drop in power afterwords though.
Yeah, that was pointed out to me by another user. That's what I get for watching 24 episodes in one day. :-p
Icy Wind agreed👻
Kaiju no Kami being harrassed by a UA-camr named zoeing silver 😡
29:50 Love Struck Rangers LOL
I find those facial expressions really funny. Of course these are moments of comedy within a serious episode, glad to know that the Pink Ranger knows how to get the guys attention.
timeranger is a great sentai
13:58 Time Fire is very much the first Sixth Ranger where he looks almost similar to the main Red Sentai, and also the first anti-heroic Sixth Ranger.
I guess considering Bullblack isn't counted as a sixth ranger, you are right.
Naoto reminds me about Burai.
Timeranger is just amazing. My favorite series, top 1. The highlight of this sit for me are the characters, the story of each one. And all very well worked. Although some episodes have a focus on humor, the series generally has many sad moments, with a very large emotional load. The ending is very sad, but very beautiful. Tatsuya's farewell to his friends, especially Yuuri' makes us cry a lot. And the final scene with him running and seeing his friends (actually, your ancestors) is too beautiful. What a wonderful series.
It definitely is. I do wish the team got a better send off in the finale though as it seemed very abrupt, but whatever. What is your favorite episode?
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork I love virtually every episode. Hard to pick just one... but if I were to choose, I would choose case file 49 Beyond the Millennium. Naoto's death, Tatsuya going to his last battle, ready to die, and Yuuri and the others, running out of the year 3001 to save him, are moments that marked me too much.
again with the yellow rangers who are male in Sentai changed to female in the PR adaptation.
Yeah, that was pretty much common place until Disney took over.
You do realize that the majority of yellow rangers in the sentai were all males, right?! I mean, just because Saban decided to switch the yellow rangers' genders in most seasons like Time Force, Lost Galaxy and Wild Force, doesn't make it a bad thing. Besides, have you even seen Hikaru's character (Ginga Yellow) in Gingaman? God, he was annoying!!!
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork Well, to be fair. Disney didn't get the memo once they have started to adapt Hurricaneger into Ninja Storm. But, I guess it sort of worked for its' advantages.
@@xgray2012 Thank god I'm not the only one that finds Hikaru to be annoying. This is one of several cases where its PR counterpart actually one-ups the original Sentai for me.
Neo-Xgray87 timeranger is a great sentai😜
My favorite Sentai season. You just can’t beat what’s amazing, and it’s like nothing Sentai has ever seen.
It's definitely in my top 10.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork my favorite sentai too, i have a friend has a new account on youtubei can't tell you what it is
True
He's just been sarcastic
I prefer it over Time Force
Thanks for the great review! Congratulations on your 90s Sentai landmark. I've never been interested in the English version of this one, but as usual the Japanese shows are awesome. I'll definitely check this one out!
Thanks. Hope you enjoy the show when you watch it.

It wuold be cool if in an sentai with an timetravel motif where the villains are an expy of the 40thieves and the rangers must stop this gang from causing struggles trought time and space
Man, 1991-2000 Sentai was really a golden age.
That it was. Best era of the series.
Without spoiling anything, i'll just say that the endgame really wants to make you punch Captian Ryuya right in his face.
Definitely.
TheArceusftw the man behind the man trope that you will never see it coming.
Kaiju no Kami do another horror movie😊
So true
The crazy shit that happens in this show will NEVER happen in today's Power Rangers. That's how great both TimeRanger and Time Force is. Neo Saban just sucks.
Though with all great stuff from Timeranger,it just doesn't feel the same without the Time force music. ^_^ Another case of I grew up with this version. Sorry.
Also,34:26. Lolz. XD You said 'shit'! Also,Lira is hot.
See, I just watched Time Force for the first... time... after I watched Timeranger over the summer. It was good, I loved the movie 2 parter, but I felt it suffered from a lot of narrative issues that made no sense. Not to mention the stuff with Alex was utterly predictable.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork Well tbh,I'll get anything as long as it ain't Ninninger or Neo Saban PR. That's the best I can say and also,Time Force is one of the best PR Seasons.
ZZ the Dark not a fan of power rangers 😊
Now that I think of it, Domon is literally the Japanese poggers dude.
What do you mean?
Domon looks like the poggers meme
I don't know what poggers is. At least, I don't think I do.
My favourite sentai series by far kakuranger comes pretty close. I cried at the ending so much when I watched it because the characters meant so much to me by the end. I would really love to see a V cinema of them like 20 years later but doubt to would happen. timeranger VS gogofive pretty great as well.
Kakuranger is my second favorite Sentai series too. :-) Only difference is Dairanger is my first.
Kaiju no Kami loved timeranger it's my favorite sentai beware of UA-camr zoeing silver he is evil😊
Marc Neilson timeranger is my favorite too😜
I read that Masaru Nagai wanted nothing to do with his Sentai past (no pun intended ), so I imagine that ruined any hope of follow up adventures.
@@dereklarner6298 He was in Ryusoulger recently so that might be a lie or his mind has changed since then. Sure he didn’t need to accept the role if he didn’t need to.
The shout factory dvd of timeforce dvd is much better looking. Trust me. Also hope toho does a better job of re releasing time ranger with better quality for you and others.
I have the Shout! Time Force DVDs and I guess it's slightly better.
I just went and rewatched the last two episodes...damn, I love that music as Tatsuya is staring at the horde of robots bearing down on him all by his lonesome...facing certain doom, he powers up the Chrono changer one last time to make his final stand. Honestly, is there a more dramatically awesome moment than that in all of Sentai history?
There are, but that doesn't take away from how dramatically badass that scene is nonetheless. Timeranger is such a great series and I had fun revisiting it this past summer.
I think Ransik is better. You know. The villain of Power Rangers Time Force. Better than the villain of Timeranger.
I wasn't a fan of Ransik. I felt he was overrated and his backstory didn't make much sense to me with the way they explained it. I prefer the good ol' gangster we got with Don Donero.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork I liked it when he became human in the crossover with Wild Force.
Matthew Wiles not a fan of power rangers only saw the pilot episode of mmpr timeranger is a great sentai huge sentai fan no idea what you are talking about🤔
@@matthewwiles4598 Captain ryuya is the actual vallin
I liked how they captured the villain and monsters instead of kill was very interesting wish it was done more.
also made things more intense as the villains and monsters faught to kill but the heroes held back. But I keep wondering why they kept the villains to 3 I mean they could have easily unfroze some criminals and had them join as new villains
zeoking silver timeranger rocks seen about 15 sentais 😊
how do you feel about them not killing the villains and monsters me i like it makes it unique
Yeah, I think that is cool and makes sense.
you think so to Huh? I liked it to as it made sense since they also cops. Wish Dekaranger did the same
Let's not alter history
*Hears last sentence*
*Starts to laugh*
That's a good joke
Does that ever work with any time travel plot ever
lol
1:54 Welcome to the future kids were you have to abandon your last name.
lol
this series much have inspiration from jetman (the mech, story about 6th ranger who he like yuki gai and the mysteries of the enemy faction)
Most Sentai series take inspiration from the ones that came before them.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork super sentai is better than power rangers my favorite sentais are bioman, jetman, zyuranger, megaranger, gingaman and time ranger you already know i am not a fan of power rangers
it's american version(time force) are more like X-men
So I'm noticing. Yet, I'm confused because they kept them criminals, but they haven't done anything criminal esque.
when FoxKids adapting Timeranger to Time Force, they makes them live-action version of X-men evolution(which's closest thing to be animated version of Fox' X-men movies)
Um, no. It was Saban who adapted Timeranger into Time Force. Fox just aired it. On top of that, I'm pretty sure the X-Men parallels are really just surface-level, seeing as mutants' struggle for equality in X-Men, as well as having good & bad ones, while the ones in Time Force just cause destruction.
At least there is a reason why Power Rangers of that adaptation look more like a Police Force.
Pink Ranger as fan service material, nothing wrong with that in my book. :) Oppai Daisuki
Lets hope that Seban does not hit this with any copyright infringements as every sentai series should at least show their original ranger suits.
Seeing as how Saban no longer owns PR, they have no reason to.
Kaiju no Kami just saw clip of timeforce on UA-cam laughed myself silly🙂
(6:25-6:35) BIG missed opportunity to do a Black Panther reference.
There's a couple of references I could have made that I didn't. Hell, there's always that one joke I think up AFTER I post the review.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork yeah i enjoyed timeranger a lot it was a great sentai
Oh, that's right; he's got a Gunblade . . .
Hmm, that's sexy.
. . .
Suddenly, I don't feel so troubled about their Mecha, anymore.
lol
Nice video. Just finish the final episode yesterday. It really is good! It lead up give me chill with the death of those who tried to change times, yet the hopeful message that doesn’t mean time is set in stone and u must follow it like a script is great.
Yeah, the show pulled off some incredible feats that not many have been able to compete with it since.
29:21 Reminds me of that certain :Oranger episode when Multiwa took her human disguise and the male rangers starts simping for her.
Yep.
The writing in this season really reaches its peak as it approaches the finale.
Episode 33 also resonated with me, but Don Dolnero being unable to kill Gien due to their history made me tear up.
Tatsuya sending the rest of his team back to the future gave me a strong ToQger vibe (I know TimeRanger came first but I've been watching the seasons out of order to begin with).
TimeRanger certainly a must-watch for any Sentai fan who hasn't seen it yet.
As for the special episode where they time travel to see the 23 previous Sentai, I feel like this could fit in with the Gokaiger continuity (if you leave out all the fourth-wall breaks). Had he had access to interdimensional travel, Domon would be pleased to know the adaptation to Power Rangers Time Force gave the team a second female member - though in doing so his role got gender swapped as so often happened with the Yellow Ranger.
I'm still not a fan of the intro - I don't dislike it as much as I did before I started watching this season but it's still not something I'd listen to in isolation. Just a personal preference.
My only major gripe with this season was the annoying robot Shion built. It reminds me of the talking hamster from JAKQ.
At least Shion making a robot makes more sense than a random hamster.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork Very true. I suppose Shion's robot also doesn't go as far as to leap into the air and pee on him, so that's a plus.
i like how time force reflected so much on the sentai while adding its own twists like for example Wes and Jen I can go on but it speaks for itself wouldn't you agree?
I'm currently watching Time Force, but so far the series hasn't made a great impression on me. Ransik has done nothing, his so called daughter is annoying, and for being criminals, the monsters have hardly done anything truly criminal-like. They're just generic monsters. As for the rangers, they're fine, though the blue ranger's acting is quite terrible and they haven't done much with the yellow ranger outside of an episode where she somehow went back in time two hundred years and no one commented on her race, her gender, nor her clothing.
like I said it speaks for itself so i won't spoil the ending
Well I have to say, the Movie Madness two parter was freaking awesome as hell. Probably the best PR episode ever.
Kaiju no Kami haven't seen time force and don't plan on it give me timeranger anyday 😜
The Japanese and American DVD release is most definitely transferred from VHS source; every single frame of video has interlacing artifact. Every series before this was transferred from film source so each DVD frame came from a complete film frame for the progressive scan DVD transfer. Toei may have lost the original film of Timeranger and just transferred the VHS release from 18 years ago. Or the video editing software they used to apply CG effects to the original film saved the results in an interlaced video format to use less storage space, so for consistency, the whole show was archived in an interlaced format so the video format of the non-CG scenes match the CG scenes.
Yeah, it's a pretty terrible release. That's why I didn't even bother ripping footage from my Region 2 set this time around.
That's because it is a tape source close to VHS And it's called D2 most Toei shows from this time (with the exception of Kamen Rider Kugga), They were shot on film suffer from this problem when they're transferred on the videotape a problem mitigated by the V-cinema's Blu-ray releases. The only way you're going to get a better version of these shows Carranger to Timeranger is if they were remastered for Blu-ray which I don't see happening soon.
Currently watching this show on pluto tv and it's amazing the heroes are well done, the villains are great at being evil and the music is great.
Agreed.
13:18 The idea of a military organisation working together with the tokusatsu heroes like Super Sentai, for most of the time due to conflicting ideals between the two, would have been awesome.
This idea is then used in Toho's own Sentai show called Gransazer where the JSDF decided to get involved in the war against the alien warlords in episode 28.
I wish that at least a few Super Sentai show in the future will have military forces like the JSDF or something similar getting involved in the heroes' fight at the start of the second half.
I guess the failure of Go-Busters is the reason why we haven't gotten anything like that in recent years.
Pier's monster form was used in the team up of time force and lightspeed. (Wished they used the megazord footage.)
Yeah.
What episode of Sailor Moon was this from 31:09-31:12 in this review?
I can't remember the number off the top of my head, but it is the episode with Motoki's girlfriend being a rainbow crystal possessor. I want to say 25 or 26. That scene came from when Makoto tells Usagi Motoki brought her heart.
So Time Force and Time Ranger pretty much have the same plot.
Not really. It shares some similar plot points as a whole, but I don't think the series are at all the same, especially since Ransik is nowhere near the crime boss that Dolnero is.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork I said pretty much in terms of rangers from future, one from past who has a rich father and asshole loner friendly rival who becomes sixth ranger. Pink ranger has lost loved ones thanks to villain and wants revenge.
I gotcha.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork Although I did think that the Mad Max reference episode was clever for Time Force because of who played Ransik.
I totally agree. That two parter was hands down one of the greatest PR stories ever.
I wish Timeranger had a second movie where they teamed up with Gaoranger.
gogov vs timeranger was a great film in my opinion
Gokaiger episode Domon Message from gai ikari have owned Gozyu Drill the power of time ranger and Timeranger special episode time travel going to Sentai past and meet gaoranger appears to passed the torch.
Good episode.
Kaiju no Kami gokaiger we seen the dead Sentai teammates gai ikari gave 3 ranger keys using Gozyu Drill.

Sometimes I question if TimeRanger/Time Force predicted 9/11 because at the end of the show around like probably episode 20-25 around that time it's been a while since I've seen the TV show like the gold monster I forgot the name of the character not my point but he destroys the city and the q-Rex and all the buildings get destroyed and whatnot with the Megazords that seems like 9/11 to me in the Power Rangers universe I mean it was 2001 but the Sentai was the year before in 2000 so I don't know
G-Zord was his name in Timeranger.
in the ranger version, that assassin was just arrested by pink and her fiancé, and after that guys death he kept trolling her, in here, he killed her family, that is way better
Yeah, I wasn't impressed with the TF version of that episode. I'm up to Disc 4 of TF though.
I find amazing that the sentai's main villain counterpart had absolutely nothing to do would have made a good versus villain though
What do you mean?
I'm saying that Gluto the TF counterpart to the Don could have been the main enemy of the Lightspeed crossover with Time Force instead of the super demons
Mathieu Leader timeranger rocks😎
Jetman and King-Ohger are phenomenal shows but Timeranger will always be my favorite Sentai. The characters are deep, a lot of the episodes have interesting plots to them along with the overarching plot just being solid and Don Dolnero was a surprisingly interesting villain with a bit of depth as well. Phenomenal show! My only gripe is the lack of TimeFire in it. I think he should have had a little more screen time given how late he was introduced.
I think Timefire made an impact because of how little he was in the show.
You know sometimes you have to stop in wonder are these shows really made for kids for adults cuz there are some stuff in both Super Sentai and kamen rider that will give kids nightmares kind of makes you wonder what on Earth grown ups in Japan was thinking when they let their kids watch this stuff 😂
I'd say both. Yes, they are marketed towards kids, but many of them are also written so adults can enjoy them.
Is this the series you said you take back the 4/5 for a 5/5?
Yes.

I just finished time ranger really good but there's one question it's bugging me about it whatever happened to Lila?
She left to do her own thing in the present day.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork well whatever she is doing let's hope she finally learned there are certain things you can't buy with money
I do have to say that I'm surprised that you didn't once have a reference about this to Futurama. Also what was up with DC Marvel thing? I also have to say I'm not sure why you didn't say how the footage for Timeranger looked better when it was used for Power Rangers Time Force since you talked how the movies DVD/Blu-ray looked better then the set for the show.
I plain out forgot. I was going to use the "Fry, you're your own grandpa" bit and forgot all about it when I was actually working on the review.
As for Time Force, I'm just watching it now for the very first time.
My only thing for that is try to look for the episodes the way they were pre 9-11 edits.
Finally got to catch up on this review, and I really did enjoy it! I'm super happy they included the episode that covered every prior Sentai, and it makes me wonder if they got the rights to all of them as a result. (hence why Jetman's a thing next month) Hearing about the DVD quality is a bit unfortunate, but I actually kinda like the old grainy style they went for. I can't get into any modern Sentai/toku due to how flashy and super advanced they try making it with the excessive CGI, so seeing a mix of it sounds like something I'd prefer more, since everything after Dekaranger goes downhill for me. (Heck, even SPD used uglier CGI than Deka since Doggie Kruger no longer looks cool and now looks creepy.)
I do wonder if any other sentai DVD releases have this issue though. Was this the first DVD Sentai, or did anything else have similar issues? I know the oldest Sentai Shows came out in 2007 or so on R2 DVD. This is on my big to buy list of Sentai DVDs, but saving for Jetman from Shout directly is a bigger priority.
The problem for me isn't the grain, it's just the DVD looks so soft, colors are muted, there are rainbows you would only see on a VHS tape, and sometimes it appears a tad blurry (when it's not the blur motion fights). Like the remastering jobs they did for Zyu, Dai, and Kaku look great for DVDs, but Timeranger just looks butt ass ugly. It looks worse than the Goranger DVDs do.
It wasn't the first series released on DVD as that honor went to Goranger and Gaoranger. GoGoFive, JAKQ, Hurricanger, and Abaranger were out when Timeranger finally hit DVD. Jetman was released after Time and looks infinitely superior.
I definitely agree that the film quality has a different feel these days. Though there are a lot of other issues with most of the Sentai shows from the last decade (Geki, Aba, and Gokai are the only truly amazing shows in my book from the 2000s despite there being a few other good ones).
Kaiju no Kami interesting 🧐

@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork just finished ohranger now watching racing squadron carranger such a great season 4 stars in my opinion
I managed to finish rewatching Timeranger as of two days ago and I am seriously glad I was able to do so since Timeranger is one of the very few Sentai seasons that was in a serious need of a rewatch due to me not remembering too much of the show outside of some major story elements and a few character moments here and there as well as being able to like the show just enough to be able to be among my Top 5 favorite Sentai series. Then again, it has been several years since I have first watched Timeranger and I was powering through all of the US released Sentai seasons via Shout Factory's own website at the time. Thankfully, the show itself holds up really well, perhaps even better than the first time especially in terms of writing and character development and that my initial feelings towards it are not misplaced in some capacity and as such, Timeranger is able to really solidified itself in my rankings as my fourth, maybe going up as my third depending on my eventual rewatch of Dairanger, favorite Sentai series. And no, I am not planning to rewatch Dairanger as of yet because the Sentai series I am planning to rewatch next through my Shout Factory DVD sets is Carranger and like Timeranger and a few other US released seasons that I own are also in a serious need of revisiting before I can jump into Dairanger again as well as Zyuranger and Kakuranger albeit to a much lesser degree.

think its interesting they included the special about the other sentai teams considering they announced that jetman is getting a release and possibly more prezyu teams
I'm wondering if they intentionally waited to do Jetman until after Time just so they could introduce American audiences to the other Sentai teams through that special episode.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork Irony.

The american version of this was one of the shows I watched and re-watched when I was little... I didn't even realize I had this much nostalgia for it until you showed it here... jeez... some differences make it look quite the different show too.
About that, down the line is there the chance for you to make reviews/comparisons between the original and american series?
It's funny you should ask that... :-)
Komodo23 timeranger rocks😜
THis is another Super Sentai I want to watch. Especially since I enjoy the PR counterpart and the Time Force story line runs closer to this. Hey Vernon Wells had some acting under his belt before joining the gallery of PR villains. Most important role which was played before his time on PR...Road Warrior. Took on Mad Max...before the multicolored clowns. The finishers and cockpits are the best of this series. I can say that because of me seeing the Time Force counterpart. I prefer the Timeforce morphing over hensen here. I don't understand they need for a special suit prior to transformation...Time Force had the cracked helmet moment too. The opening theme rocks...sounds a bit Gospelish and Choral. Closing theme good too. The PR team up was not that great but used the storyline from the Super Sentai counterpart as a cliffhanger two parter...this is were Wells gets the channel the villian that he once played against Mel Gibson.
I'm watching Time Force right now. Finished the first two discs and boy did they rush bringing in Time Fire (Quantum Ranger).
So far my biggest issue with Time Force stems from the criminals not doing anything criminal-esque. Oh, and the episode where the yellow ranger gets sent back in time to help the clocktower dude made no sense since no one ever mentioned her race, her gender, nor her clothes.
Picky, PIcky Picky. "Keep telling yourself, its just a show...so I really should relax."
lol That defies the whole fun though.
I’m surprised the robo owl isn’t voiced by Machiko Soga since it looks like something she would voice.
You think so?
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork well, she usually does voices for cute mascot type characters like BallBoy (Buknoy for Filipinos), Robomaru (Robocon spin off), and Q Taro the Ghost.
It wuold be cool having an sentai series that was actually about time traveling

Another great review. I just got Timeranger and watched the whole series. It was quite the viewing. I just have one question. Is Timeranger really a 90's Sentai? I thought it started in 2000 and ran until 2001.
I consider decades to be 1-10, not 0-9. Hence, I consider Jetman through Timeranger to be the 90s. Plus, Soda finished his era in 1990, so I also feel that helps to justify my thinking process since Jet-Time were all done with new aspects.
I see. Thanks for clearing that up.
Kaiju no Kami timeranger rocks I enjoyed the timeranger vs gogofive movie it was fun👍
I like how time yellow wears a Philadelphia flyers Jersey
Yeah, I found that quite hilarious the first time I watched Timeranger.
I think I’m gonna stick with Jetman, Dairanger, Kakuranger, Carranger, Megaranger, GoGoFive, Timeranger and Hurricaneger. Then I’ll watch Zyuranger and Gingaman. First the goods, then the mehs. And maybe I’ll watch Ohranger and Gaoranger to finish off with the bads.
Edit: I’ve decided that I’m gonna rewatch Jetman, then watch Zyuranger, Dairanger, Kakuranger, Carranger, Megaranger, Gingaman, GoGoFive, Timeranger, and Hurricaneger.
Edit: I’ve decided again that I’m gonna watch every series Shout! Released including Ohranger and Gaoranger.
Edit: I’m officially removing Gaoranger and Hurricaneger.
Zyu and Ginga are just as good as the ones you listed though. Gao is definitely a bad, but Oh is more of a meh.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork but you give Gaoranger a 3/5
Yeah, because it was my first series and I have a special place for it. Anyway, it's average, but compared to the others Shout! released, it's bad.
Maybe because they actually use something close to VHS quality okay, to to be more accurate the original 1-in Masters probably looked ugly even for their day, which probably explains why Time Force looks a little bit better preserved, and They didn't even bother re-transferring the other Super Sentai that were on 1 in tapes like they did with B Fighter Kabuto from their original film elements. (rest of Carranger to this show.)
This is a call for Toei to remaster 80s & 90s Super Sentai Shows in HD.
Well they have done some remastering, but let's hope they go back and redo all of their shows in HD.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork I think they're done Gorenger for Blu-ray, The Marvel trilogy (They just did Denziman and Sun Vulcan) for the Toei channel and streaming, and the movies for all three. No version of the second Super Sentai in HD outside of their crossover, nothing on any Soda shows including Flashman (although It would have to be without flashing lights) or the French fan favorite Bioman. Not even a word on if they're even going to do Blu Ray of the '90s Super Sentai that actually retrain the strobe light effects like Jetman or are they going to make the same Kamen Rider Black styled edits for those Blu-rays. (Yes, the Toei DVD and their US Shout Hasbro clones come from the Toei channel master just to remind you so they have Fade in and fade out where they weren't originally in the broadcasts from the '90s and in addition those same broadcasts from the '90s have different previews.)
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork but they're still from the original 1-in tape masters and not to mention they're from the original VHS release, they're going to be mastered a little differently from the broadcast and contain the full previews when the airings on ANN (TV Asahi or any adjacent affiliate) had abbreviated previews to accommodate promoting giveaways of singles or toys. So They haven't done a new master since 2000, They just slightly tweaked the VHS master for DVD or get rid of the flashing lights all together on the Toei channel and slap it on ours instead.
31:31 that's not how you pronounce "premise"
lol Glad that's what you got out of the review. :-D
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork I loved it, I paid so much attention 'wink wink'
Slick Trademarc same here saw this sentai when I was 24 in 2008 just recently saw hurricanger though it was a great sentai seen about 13 sentais👻
Kaiju no Kami seen 15 sentais now😈
I agree timeranger is one of my favorite sentai shows i've seen the character growth the villains everything about this show is amazing and i love it
Also you earn a new subscriber
Glad you enjoyed my review. :-) I hope you enjoy the others too.
That i will
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork timeranger i would give 4 stars too
Necrom 002 agree with you about about timeranger it's a great sentai my favorite sentais are bioman, jetman, zyuranger,Megaranger,Gingaman and timeranger😊
@@only257 Cool haven't really seen bioman jetman zyuranger megaranger or gingaman yet but maybe i will at some point
Timeranger is, funnily and surprisingly enough, the very first Super Sentai I ever watch in 2001. But only watch it briefly, and once at first. I was so confused why these guys wear the Time Force Ranger suits.
When I re-watch it again in 2007 (but only the second-half), and now I knew what Timeranger was, I always wondered why these special effects look like it came from the 1980s or early 1990s, even when Timeranger was first aired in 2000.
It's because of the quality of the video. If it was remastered, it would look better.
I'm actually rewatching Timeranger right now. Five discs in and I really wish I had given it a 5 in my review, but oh well.
I'm saying. It looks weird when next to Gaoranger
Timeranger is GOAT for me. I think the 2000s in Toku (Kuuga - Blade) remain superior in tone and quality. Hibiki had a superb first half marred by the change in direction halfway through. Now the sentai/KR look to be pale versions of themselves (there are some exceptions, Decade was pretty cool though.)
I love the early Heisei stuff for Kamen Rider, but I think the 90s were the best period for Sentai. Sentai became sillier in the 2000s due to KR being more serious.
W,ooo,Gaim,ex aid and build are some good seasons
Back To The Future Version Of Super Sentai
Haha.
You ever think about how the world building in this show makes no sense. It’s not explained how freeze compressing the villains is somehow supposed to reform them once they get out especially since some of them have built in weapons in their bodies
No, I don't and I really don't question it. It's technology from the future and I'm sure criminals are so done with being frozen that they never want to be criminals again.
I find time ranger and time force to be the most mature season of power rangers and super sentai.
I wouldn't say it is the only mature one for Sentai, but it is one of them.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork
Which other ones do you consider to be more mature? This element was what made me like Timeranger. I also enjoyed Hurricanger, but none of the others from the last 20 years looked good. What have I overlooked?
Gekiranger and Shinkenger both get more serious as it goes on.
I think time ranger maybe be not that mature, but it is just so realistic. Tomorrow might be the end of the world and the future will be forever changed, but did that mean that you just give up and wait for your tragedy? The next second is decided by you...the emotional transition of rangers from anxiety to confidence is so realistic...Maybe this is not that likable but, it is just realistic. In time force I did not get that scene too much(but definitely had). Time force did a good job on develop the main characters but less discuss some moral thinking about the future and life. That is why people prefer Time Force because they seemed not like moral thinking or complexity of personalities, it is so sad that people watching toku nowadays pay much attention to the appearance stuff like likable characters and enjoyable stories, and do not even care about the theme and deep concept behind the story(even it is boring) ...and that is why 90s sentai which were used to consider the best decade of sentai received more criticize recently.
Was that ending theme sung by Rica Matsumoto?
Nope. She did the Ryuki opening song though.
1:40 Excuse you?
Kaiju ¿why did you think this season was an comercial flop?
It put story over toy gimmicks.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork ¿apart of that?
This inexplicably held high ratings while having the lowest toy sales, which carried over into Time Force (PR's adaptation of this series) And it held that record for 15 years of lowest toy line sales until they must not be named and their US equivalent. Basically you wanted to be the 2000s version of Jetman but with police and The Matrix.
Yeah, it's so weird how Timeranger is considering a failure due to low toy sales while Ohranger was considered a success due to high toy sales despite the lower ratings.
Every time they take a risk with a darker series and it ends up under performing (or In this case commercially bombing) They end up falling it up with a goofier series. That's why we ended up with the Power animals/Wild Zords and the "we suck as a species message so we must do better" for the anniversary seasons for Japan and America. Both Wild Force and Gaoranger are annoying to watch. That's why That's part of the reason the Disney seasons of the reputation they have.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetworkSame thing happened to PR Zeo The ratings were initially high for that series but went down Midway mostly due to burnout eventually getting slaughtered by all things, Big Bad Beetleborgs (US adaptation of Juukou B-Fighter a case of history repeating itself. Basically that show slaughtered Ohranger in the ratings after real life happened.), but the toy sales were pretty high for that season. Having modular features including articulation on the the Mechs/Zords, particularly on Ohranger Robo/ Zeo Megazord and Ohblocker/Super Zeo Megazord.
Timeranger earnings compared to other serious Super Sentai Shows (PR Saban Era and Disney era) earnings revenue
Timeranger-4.0 billion yen
Ohranger (pre-retool) -15.9 billion yen
Gekiranger-7.7 billion yen
We don't have anything on their Power Rangers counterpart but if you convert into US dollars compared to the much sillier entries that follow it up yikes!
@@mikedbz8530 I think zenkaiger have low toy sales
Is it lee-la or li-la (as in lie) for Lila
Leela as I in Japanese is pronounced as ee. I messed up once or twice during my review.
M
Do you prefer Super sentai or Power Rangers
Sentai.
When you said Sion is like Superman but without the adopted parents and was raised in a lab with experiments done on Him I was think “oh so he’s flashpoint Superman”
Pretty much.
Started watch this show after Goseiger (as it's finally fan translated in my native language), I was pretty hype up by the shows premice..... and it turns out even better than I thought, I'm really enjoying this show and this might IMO be the most consistant sentai show so far, I only have 2 episodes I didn't like so far which are the soba one and the one with Pink getting rosted over her beauty, I didn't like this episode, girl you are the most badass Pink ranger sentai ever had (in fact FINALLY an amazing Pink Ranger) just punch this bitch in the face already and I didn't like the message of that episode.
The rest of the shows episodes has range from good to amazing, in all honnestly I'm waiting to see the end but I'm starting to think this show might finally dethrone Jetman as my favorite sentai season, which after so much other seasons I honnestly never thought would happen.
Timeranger is a show that I wanted to hate for some reason way back when I first saw it, only to end up loving it. There's just something so unique about it that keeps you engaged.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork Well I'm near the end now, and I can confirm best sentai show for me, and that's not even close which is something considering how much I loved Jetman, but in all honnestly I have almost nothing bad to say about Timeranger, the story is great, the characters are great, the pacing is the best, it's the most consistant season with only 2 episodes I would considere not good which is a record, like really I struggle to find anything truly negative about that show, maybe the mech fight if you really care about these but in all honnestly I don't really care for mech fight in Sentai, tough I agree that this show doesn't have the best mech fights but they aren't bad and doesn't get in the way of the shows quality.
In my opinion deserved 5 out of 5 stars. for my Timeranger is The Nearly Perfect Season. and the only thing that avoid that Timeranger from being The Perfect Season is that already exists The Perfect Season of Super Sentai Jetman.
Actually, I mentioned in another video (believe it was my top 11 Sentai one) that I should have given the series a 5/5 instead of 4 and am not sure exactly why I did a 4.
The ending theme sounds like something from a 2000s Rider show. Or maybe it’s just me idk. Also am I the only one who gets annoyed when English is subbed?
It's weird, but it's not that big a deal.
I like Timeranger better than Power Rangers Time Force because there isn't actually any prejudice against the villains who were arrested. They were legitimately evil for selfish reasons and not because people rejected them because of their appearance. Though some can be kind of stupid. (Really, Abel? You're going to tell Yuuri to get away from those men? And Ladis, how did you not know that your bombs were being used for bad reasons? Though he did get a lighter sentence due to him not knowing.
That and I just like how Pink's parents were actually killed and the Hell's Gate dude killed people.
Between Timeranger and Kamen rider kuuga which is better?
That is tough, but I'd probably still go with Timeranger.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork I like kuuga better
i found out what Gein's origin is, and you were right, my face was like his at times, and no, im not gonna say what it is, but you will be surprised two, its allot darker then the PR version
Yep. I mean I like what TF did, but I feel it is much more mature in TR.
Yuri TimePink is my favorite female character from Super Sentai. and In my opinion Yuri is the best written female character of the franchise of Super Sentai.
I don't know if she is best written female character, but she is definitely one of them. She's also my favorite pink.
Time robo Alpha look great
He does.
Don DeNiro thats fn hilarious
lol
14:01 is so funny because imo he has the best theme song and time ranger was my favorite sentai & power ranger series.
He does have a cool theme song. Then again, the music in the show is just great all around.
Dammit, I wanted a 5 spandex out of 5 😣😭
lol It's just got a few issues that keep it from a perfect score.
Fitzgerald Pate timeranger is a great sentai not a fan of power rangers only saw the pilot episode of mmpr and hated it when I was nine in 1993😜
One of my Favourite Seasons besides Dairanger, Shinkenger and Kakuranger. This show, Just like Homelander says, Is perfect, down to the last minute details.
Agreed.
