When you have an undisciplined sixteen year old running around with a weapon, that has no business having, this can happen anywhere under those circumstances.

What states are you referring to? If you’re taking about “defunding” the police, please do your research. It wasn’t a good choice of words to use, I’ll agree. It just means distributing our tax dollars more evenly between llaw enforcement , schools and mental health. Most of the funds go to LEO, to the point of militarization while schools and teachers get the crumbs. Don’t think about coming at me. My family is LEO so save it please.

Let me take that a step further: Yes, the parents are arrested jailed tried and convicted with the children. Absolutely. But every arrest in the united states should result in involuntary DNA tests and anytime there is a parental match with a juvenile convicted of a crime, that parent gets convicted as well, but as an adult. This holds ABSENT FATHERS accountable for their ratched fatherless "children".

In my opinion: The door charge would be insufficient to the environmental objective of safety. $10 is a joke. You have to pick your clientele, not let your customers pick you. "You don't let the inmates run the asylum". So a better door fee would be $50 a person $90 per couple. Realistically it should be $115 with mandatory dress code. The free drink specials for ladies actually encourages mayhem & competition amongst the males. Those types of alcohol offerings tend to be tap beer or low end party offerings. After midnight the floor girls delute shots or offer fake mixed drinks. If it's not a bottle, your alcohol probably is fake after midnight.
A dress code streamlines screening operations with no purses, hand bags, fanny packs or back packs. Otherwise a screener might miss something as administrative law sets Constitutional guidelines to conducting "administrative searches".
The security vendor would need to supply metal detectors as this is standard screening practice. The Sheriff is 100% spot on. Security companies are required to have liability insurance should something like this happen.
Having multiple security guards does nothing when the environmental controls are lacking or non-existent. Cameras are not a public safety security measure. Physical & situational controls are. I think they said there were 10 guards & some how a 45 caliber handgun made it to the floor past their perimeter safety net/gate. It wasn't the only firearm that made it to the sterile area either. This would go towards a would be accusation of malfeasance/negilance.
If so, anyone suffering from a gun shot or permanent tinitus would have a claim to damages being the security lost control of the floor & failed to sterilize it. The public would have an elevated/reasonable expectation of safety with all those security people around.
It took one courageous security guard to get physical, disarm & apprehend the perpetrator saving the day as the other gun toting guy with the 45 snuck off. That's pretty bad for that security company. Kudos to the hero of the day. Don't think the Sheriff was too thrilled a star athlete got hurt bringing extreme attention to the case.
Although the Sheriff would be correct about Stand Your Ground law, if the guys with guns didn't have concealed carry licenses, Constitutional carry would be limited/ burdened by probable cause/reasonable suspicion protocols. Licensing removes this & allows carry in places not specifically prohibited by statute.
The underaged perpetrator wouldn't be allowed in the establishment or to have a firearm on his person. There wouldn't be any legal claim to self defense under Stand Your Ground point being he didn't have the right to be there in the first place let alone carry a gun.
