We are still a very young state with promising future and I’ll tell you one of the most cheapest country to live in Africa is Nigeria. Not from statistics but from my own traveling experiences. Nigeria as it stands is still a regional superpower that does not exercise its powers but if forced to would be more than happy. We have done it before. I do not support breaking up for the sole reason that it will not serve the direct interest of the masses but that of the anglozionist empire and its 5th and 6th columnists together with their 4th estate of the realm. it would be a vicious circle. Do you wonder why the empire started an active hybrid war in 2008 and has since lost both politically and militarily in 2015? It is not coincidental. Nigeria truly expired in 2014 and from their game plan, it is to break Nigeria into parts using their underdogs. This failed during the Biafran War. The plan then was to create smaller but more controllable regions and indebted them massively as you have in Qatar, UAE, and even Jordan. This plan failed and it would only serve the direct interest of the anglozoionist empire. This is the main reason their undergod Agui Ironsi stopped a regional government that was working in the interest of the people but not that of the puppet master. They have since failed. Nigeria honestly was never created for the people living within the borders of Nigeria. This is a fact. The reality is, the people in the boarders of Nigeria have been fighting to change the tide to favour them and you re absolutely right. Th purchasing power parity of the Naira is stronger than many European and American countries. That is a fact! Life expectancy, may be not so good but getting better than in the 80s. We will get there. I have said this about leadership: Nigeria is currently classified in my school of thought as a semi puppet state which is far better than a permanenet puppet state. My Jottings from this Video😂❤ WHY NIGERIA HAS HIGH POPULATION 1. Historic Empires 2. Physical Geography 3. Abundance of Natural Resources 4. High Fertility Rate 5. More Large Cities
When you say there are questions about the accuracy of Nigeria's population, do you think the real number is larger or smaller than what's stated? That comment piqued my curiosity. Cheers!
The real population is believed to be smaller. The Northern region has historically held more power and for longer since 1960. They supposedly inflate the regions pop for internal elections and for international aid.
The last census in Nigeria was over 10 years ago so most of the population figures are mere speculations. The real figure is smaller than speculated, more likely 160m, at most 170m based on numbers from phone sim registrations
@blackcoraltv6787 I am a nigerian diaspora, and I want to ask you, do you think nigeria in the next 15-20 years can be in a different situation than now?
Some of the reasons for the large population: Big land mass which is very fertile, suitable for agriculture all year round, no need for fertilisers so food is plentiful and quite cheap until recently with high inflation Abundant rainfall esp in the South, Middle belt; Culture, Nigerians are family oriented, you are expected to marry at a certain age and have children/family, a lady over 26 and unmarried wont rest from family pressure to settle down. 😂 abundant natural resources eg oil, gas, gold etc Multiple wives (polygamy esp among the muslims in Nortgern Nigeria, High fertility rate among the women- though its dropping in recent years better healthcare which has reduced child mortality rate, mass migration from neighbouring countries - result is about 30% of Nigeria s population consists of other Africans . There are other reasons but these are the few i can come up with
Usually people of poorer countries have more children. Not just here but when Ireland was poor in the 50’s- 70’s. The baby boom period. Women gave birth to 6-10 children minimum. Same with China, India etc etc. Once a country become more educated, richer and a larger middle class. Family size decrease. The average size of Irish families is under 2 kids. Once African nations become richer and more educated. Family sizes will decrease too.
Nigeria, despite being a mostly rural country, is surpassing the United States to become the 3rd most populated country in the world in the future. Is that true? And also, why does Nigeria have a very large population?

This is the main reason, why french won't ever be in the top 5 most spoken languages. Nigeria will dominate it's neighbours, economically and culturally, while their neo colonial ties to france continue to erode. I wouldn't be surprised, if the english speaking part of cameroon, benin, togo and ghana, form a new country, with nigeria. That is an even larger, core of west africa.
Nigeria is not going to dominate anyone in fact they're practically 3 countries in 1. The fundemental unity it takes to be a functioning nation yet alone a superpower is missing. Ghana as much as people don't want to admit itin the same way caused the rise of sovereign African states will spark the 2nd revolution for Africa. One of the few African countries to never have a terrorist attack. Despite having similar demographics to Nigeria with Christian south and a Muslim north has never had a civil war. In 2017 was the fastest growing economy. Although with some economic mismanagement with better leaderahip has potential. Despite having similar economic issues has minimal to no insecurity. 85% electrification and even supplying energy to other countries including Nigeria. Not to mention the first sub-saharan gain independence as a feat in of itself. Leaders in Ghana need to wake up and realise "the giant of Africa" is nothing but a slogan and if we don't take the drivers seat like Nkrumah did Africa will continue to remain in darkness.
Actually, French will be the most spoken european language in Africa in 2050 because despite its population, Nigeria is too corrupt, too diverse, unequal and unstable to become a superpower. The future of Africa is in smaller, but more stable countries, like Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana for example. People underestimate the importance of stability and no corruption to develop a strong state and enconomy.
@@Antarius1999 lol seems like you're not even an African cuz this take is the direct opposite of reality as we speak. @@jeffreytube The only topic where Nigeria is dominant is demographics, and demographics do not make a country powerful if you cannot create jobs to absorb it (it's the Indian situation), moreover, stability and institutions are too weak to create a prosperous economy, that's why the countries i've mentionned are small in land area and population, but they are more likely to became "developed" country with high standard of living (in scale of Africa).

Hi, I noticed when you talked specificly about the population of an urban area - Id think its more geological to use urban area statistics than the political. Id like to hear your take on this.
Accra is not a small city. The government keeps shrinking the size of what is called Accra. Its actual population is somewhere between 3 to 6 million people.
Correction at 11 minutes: The population of the Kano state is way more than 10 million. Many people mistake the Kano city (metro area) population with the population of the whole Kano state.
Nigeria's population is inflated. How does a country have 220 million people but only 25 million voted in the election a few months ago? Not even twice Ghana's voter turnout and Ghana only has 33 million.
The number of registered voters are more than the number of people that actually voted. We had issued of electoral staffs refusing to give certain people their voters card because they think they will vote against the current party. There are also a lot of people that couldn't cast their vote on that day as well. There are also millions of people that don't participate in elections for personal reasons.
You are foolish to equate voters turn out with the general population. First and foremost there's voter's apathy in the last election, the people below the voting age in Nigeria, which is 18 is extremely large, so that's some of the reasons the turn out was very low. To add insult to injury, the Nigeria general population has lost interest in the electoral process in Nigeria. So,Dummy, the election day turn out has nothing to do with the general population of Nigeria. Get that to your sick skull
Nigeria's population is very inflated for political reasons. Lagos is literally the only city with traffic. Most of Nigerian cities look empty in comparison
Nearly 100 million adults registered to vote and millions more never registered to vote. Nigeria's median age is 18.1 years which means there's nearly another 100 million people under 18 years.
Your estimated population of every city in Nigeria is very wrong. Lagos alone has a population of over 25 million people, followed by Kano with over 19 million, not 4 million.
So the former Ghana empire was Mauritania 🇲🇷 and Mali 🇲🇱 and has NOTHING to do with present day Ghana 🇬🇭. That is very interesting and educative, lovely video.
That's not correct Sir, check your data very well, according to the census 2006 Kani has the highest population with about 9.5 million people followed by Lagos. But now you are saying 4 million I don't know where you get your data, there's an error in that data of course
Nigeria has high population because climate, geography, head start on agriculture (Nok culture) , and also political stability. Congo has climate, geography, but not a head start on agricultural nor political stability for long population growth. Story of Nigeria is similar to India and China.

Respect to you for your deep knowledge and how you covered the significance of Nigeria in the region, its future potential and the history of the region. You did your research well on the geography of the area. ❤🇳🇬👌🏽
I could classify myself as a middle class Nigerian citizen. Not reach not poor and could afford literarily anything within my class.
I was once one of the people that support the breakaway of Nigeria according to the region dominant tribe which would be Yoruba in the Western Region, Igbos in the Eastern Region, Hausa in the Northern Region and the Middlebelt.
After many studies and research, I realized the only catastrophe that would be the most greatest in Nigeria history would be the very day we break apart. Our population and cultural diversity is what make us unique and fascinating. We might be facing lots of challenges right now due to corruption and bad leadership, I’m very sure we will get there. We are still a very young state with promising future and I’ll tell you one of the most cheapest country to live in Africa is Nigeria. Not from statistics but from my own traveling experiences.
With good leadership and accountability with proper distribution of wealth, we will attain our super power status. We are one of the most brightest and smartest mind not in Africa but in the world. Not only that, we are though and resilient.
We only need just one step and the Nigeria growth will grow spontaneously.
Delusional 😂 so many ethnic group and religion pack in such a small country literally created by England is nothing good. Nigeria a european creation.
And Nigeria is not cheap at all, Lagos despite being the biggest city in the world with the worst infrastructures is still more expensive that more developped asian cities with higher wages and higher quality of life.
Separating Nigeria was never going to solve the issue ,look at Sudan and South Sudan ,they both separated and both countries are struggling ,Sudan is collapsing while South Sudan is among the most corrupted country in the world ,most of the oil wealth goes to the few top people ,the country is struggling economically, the reason why separating does not solve the economic issue is because the issue from the start was always corruption and bad leadership,if you want to fix the country you need to fix that
Nigeria as it stands is still a regional superpower that does not exercise its powers but if forced to would be more than happy.
What is missing is a Putin of Nigeria. We will get there eventually. It's a process and we are so close now than never ever!

All Nigeria needs is for those who don't want to be part of it, to physically leave Nigerian territory, before seceding. Notion that you can start making claim of other territories in the common wealth, and claiming you developed regions that predate the existence of the country, especially after attempts at hostile takeovers, is delusional.
Nigeria is a voluntary union. To lose status of a voluntary status, you would have had to prove yourself a threat to the union. Continuing to threaten the union, does not only hinder the potential of the members of such a union, but the regional development of the country.
It holds the nation hostage to old paranoias and is the main cause of economic, social, educational, resource and technological stagnation.
Anybody who wants to leave, should leave, without taking from others, what they have not brought to the table.
They will need the correct political environment, legal system, and cultural elements to become a super power. The question is: can they adopt those before their urbanization turns into the poison pill that kills them off?

Good job on a complex subject! I spent a year of college in Nigeria. It was great! In history class, they said that malaria kept the British from moving in an taking land during the 1800's and early 1900's, the way they did in east and interior Africa - Kenya, Rhodesia. There, they took land and grew tobacco and other crops. The British stayed along the coast in West Africa, and bought and shipped out palm oil and other products. I'm not sure how this affected population growth, but it may have been a factor.

WHY NIGERIA HAS HIGH POPULATION
1. Historic Empires
2. Physical Geography
3. Abundance of Natural Resources
4. High Fertility Rate

Une analyse précise et concise.
Depuis Yaoundé au Cameroun 🇨🇲.
Some of the reasons for the large population:
Big land mass which is very fertile, suitable for agriculture all year round, no need for fertilisers so food is plentiful and quite cheap until recently with high inflation
Abundant rainfall esp in the South, Middle belt;
Culture, Nigerians are family oriented, you are expected to marry at a certain age and have children/family, a lady over 26 and unmarried wont rest from family pressure to settle down. 😂
abundant natural resources eg oil, gas, gold etc
Multiple wives (polygamy esp among the muslims in Nortgern Nigeria,
High fertility rate among the women- though its dropping in recent years
better healthcare which has reduced child mortality rate,
mass migration from neighbouring countries - result is about 30% of Nigeria s population consists of other Africans .

Very good
Nigeria's population is inflated.
@@jeffreytube it still doesn't explain 25 million voters in a country of 220 million people. In most sane countries the election wouldn't even stand.
