    Awesome video, thanks, the 7 reasons:
    1. 100% free and open source
    2. import data from CSV files to the tables
    3. add constraints to improve data integrity
    4. Use a unique option to enforce values in the column to be unique across rows
    5. an existing API to access the data and create listeners using real-time option
    6. extensions with a bunch of options like schema visualizer
    7. create views allowing join data from different tables

    looking forward to u buliding complex apps with supabase! Firebase has been difficult for a citizen programmer like me to pick up. Im more used to sql database structure such as Excel and Power BI. Supabase feels like a second home!

    Great James! Actually I am missing RLS, which makes life so much easier if you start to introduce team functionality compared to firebase.

    Hello sir I have a Doubt, what's the difference between Backend Query and Dynamic children, when to use each of them , it's confusing.

    I have a physical multi-location store with an app to order items and pick up. Your last point seems like a way I could easily manage per-location-specific inventory?
    Make a master product list then individual locations. And add location ID’s to the product list to filter? Rather than make a product list collection for each location? Ideas? 😂 (edit) -> signing up for patreon

    If James sir is dropping firebase then i will too.
    Because even I am regularly having trouble in firebase with all the schemes etc. Relational data is something am fimilar with and it's easier to make more complex stuff. James Sir You have been the most efficient guide on UA-cam when it comes to nocode, especially flutterflow. Thank you so much sir for the video. I have been following you since the beginning & you always give correct mentorship.❤
    Ps- sir please release more full app tutorials using flutter flow & supabase

    Dropped firebase long time ago, but it is a bit confusing and hard to deal with. Forget password integration with FF is definitely an issue, because all you get is recovery of the password not the password update. Also the SMTP will be a surprise for everyone when ready to go to production app. The view James mention is actually something I never knew existed, would love to see more apps build using views

    Hi. I have learned a lot from your channel. Thank you very much. I have a question. Are supabase views realtime? I want to show changes on realtime basis to my users.

    Thank you very much for your dedication to helping us learn how to make apps and the tools necessary to do so, James.
    How do you handle profile pictures with supabase? I have searched everywhere and haven't found a tutorial on how to do the following from within the app (not having to manually put the image url in supabase database):
    1. Select picture on phone (not upload it instantaneously). Upload only when button to create profile is clicked;
    2. Associate image with user in the database so it appears when he logs in;
    3. Allow user to update picture. In supabase, delete old picture and upload new one (when confirm update is clicked) and have it continue to be associated with profile.
    Maybe you have already covered such functionality in one of your previous videos. If so, could you link it to me, please. I'm very grateful for your work. You're providing valuable content in this channel!

    Supabase is nice but the security rules are complex to understand.

    Is this still true today, in April 2024? Since this vid is 6 months old things might have changed. It’s kind of critical to me and keeping things within Google seems logical to me for the long run.

    • @vince2nd

      Slow as shit though. Scrolling side to side and it has to reload/ refresh the view... that alone was enough of a turnoff. If they can fix that i might look back at it as an option.

    Hello James, my name is Julio, I'm from Brazil and I would like more information about your course and if possible we could talk about a specific application that I want to create, I'm a complete beginner in flutterflow but I take it very seriously and I want to be a programmer. lowcode, how can I talk to you?

  • @vince2nd
    @vince2nd 10 місяців тому

    Firebase is trash.. hate to say. There are some good features but Google doesnt seem to give a shit about it.. surprise 🤡🤯
    I like Supabase, but Airtable was simpler, less error messages, etc.
    Constraint errors like the one you received can be vague, RLS isn't difficult.. but not easy... and I could be wrong but it seems proprietary, the View feature is nice.. prefer Airtable's implementation.. simple & straightforward. So for me, its gonna be Airtable over Supabase. Just more reliable

    • @tezeroman
      @tezeroman 10 місяців тому

      So is the FF+Airtable your regular choice for all the projects?

    • @vince2nd
      @vince2nd 10 місяців тому

      @@tezeroman I don't really use FF anymore because of the API integration, I just keep track of what they've come out with. Once they make API integration and testing better I'll reconsider it. It'd be too time consuming to go back and forth with FF right now. The real work starts after the app is built.

    • @tezeroman
      @tezeroman 10 місяців тому +3

      @@vince2nd What API integration do you mean? Aren't the API calls what you need? Do you use any alternative no-code builder then? I am asking in order to have broader picture and to learn from your experience. It all looks great in YT videos but then there is a reality, real work and the problems you won't hear about in the tool's marketing content.
      However I also see people working with FF happily, so that all depends on various factors probably.
