If someone doesn't want to lose the truly weatherproof capability of the stock head unit as well as intercom/CB/weather band and Automatic Volume Control they can send their stock HK head unit to Iron Cross Audio to have standard preamp outputs installed on it. I had front and rear preamp outputs installed on my stock HK head unit and have it feeding an Arc PSM DSP. That in turn feeds my three amplifiers. All of my stock Ultra audio features still work fine. AVC is really nice because I can set the volume and not have to lower it every time I come to a stop. Also in the winter I can switch the speakers off with the dash switch (I have a 2010 Ultra Classic) and use the headset port to feed speakers in my full face helmet. I realize most folks will want bluetooth as well. This can be added with the Metra Saddletramp module. This allows track info to show up on the screen and you can skip forward and back on your tracks with the thumb controls. I also added an iPod module as well. I have all my music on an iPod in my clutch side saddlebag. I think the module I used was the HDPDPlus model. I did take both the iPod and Bluetooth modules out of their casings and wrapped them up to save space. I wired them both into a single harness as well to cut down on wiring. Now I can switch between CD/FM/AM/WB/Aux/iPod and bluetooth with my thumb controls. The CB still works fine as well. Just an idea as to what can be done with these old bikes if you don't mind doing some research. Oh on a side note a lot of folks will tell you not to use AVC with aftermaket amplifiers. This ONLY applies to the newer Boom Box Rushmore head units. They have something more akin to automatic gain control than the basic automatic volume control of the stock HK and Biketronics interfaces.
After wasting money on Jensen and Aquatic systems installed the RF unit, great sound easy operation could not be more satisfied. Two Arc Audio 600 watt amps, Diamond audio front and lowers Hertz in the rear pods.SWWWWWEEET
I would really like to hear this installed with one of your stage 3 kits. I have a 2012 RG and I’ve been toying with the idea of upgrading to a newer model just for the audio options I see here on your channel. But if I can get the same quality with a stock look on my 2012 I’ll drive all the way to NJ from NM to have you set it up.
Does the speed auto adjust volume work still on the rockford? I know it doesn't with the aquatic I absolutely love this feature and will not change out my factory stereo on my 07 until there is a radio that also does it.
My bike is the 2011 Road Glide Ultra CVO with original HK head unit, Harley amp and original speakers. Can I replace the head unit with the Aquaric AV radio you referenced in this video. Connecting it to the original harley amp and speakers?
I’m new to the Harley world . I have a 05 ultra classic. I hardly ever see ultra classic when looking for parts. Are the single din install kits for the street glide compatible with the Electra glide ultra classic? Thanks
I have a 1997 that has a 96-97 style radio with CB, will this unit work for mine? I found a converter for it but it doesn’t use the large plug in spot, will that work?
Is the Rockford radio easy to see in direct or bright sunlight. I purchased the Aquatics radio and found its not easy see the display in the daylight. I agree the Aquatics radio is not easy to navigate. Also does the Rockford maintain AVC control? Thanks Carlos great video!
I currently have and love this unit. Considering the Soundstream Reserve HDHU 9813. What do you prefer for sound first and function and features second? Mine sounds amazing.
Yes it can metra makes a inner faring for that model and another company does as well. You can order it from Fat Head Cycles they sell a bundle package.
