Almost 30 years ago, my wife and I, along with her uncle and his wife, went on a business trip to Nashville. Part of the trip was tickets to the Grand Ole Opry. He was excited about the Opry but said he hoped "That old Whispering Bill" wouldn't be there. I really like Bill, and hoped he would appear. Well, we got seated, and into the show it was announced Bill Anderson would host a segment. It tickled me, not only because I like Bill, but because my wife's uncle would get to hear Bill live. I laughed to myself, thinking he would get to hear the real Bill. I could see he wasn't exactly happy Bill was hosting and singing. Then, the lights went down, Bill took the mic, the Carol Lee Singers sang "still", then Bill started singing the song. The Carol Lee Singers were excellent, and Bill gave the performance of his life of Still. By the second verse my wife's uncle was standing up clapping, a huge smile on his face, and tears running down his face. I can tell you that he was a huge Bill Anderson fan the rest of his life. That trip to the Opry, when real country music was still preformed, was a high point in his life, and mine. I have been to the Opry several times, but the night Bill Anderson made a believer of my wife's uncle, was the highlight. Keep on going Bill, the man credited with authoring more country songs than anyone ever.
This is one beautiful song that was written and sang from the bottom of his heart I do believe. Bill you are a wonderful singer and songwriter in one
