You guys inspired me to flip furniture ❤️ I’ve always done flips here and there but used to work full time. It’s been almost two years since I quit my job to stay home and homeschool my kiddos, we now had the blessing to get them into private school and my husband reminded me of how much I like to flip furniture and encourage me to do it as a side business since I now have the time, yes I have a good one like you !!!❤️ praise God for that 🙌🏻. So thank you for all your help and recommendations.

I watched like every video you´ve ever uploaded.. it´s so addictive! And this is one of my favourites! I love all of them but this one is so real and down to earth.. it´s just real life and I love the behind the scenes, you should do that more often! I love that you, Andrea, did not forget the "roots" where we all probably started, when we did our first makeover. Seeing you creating such a smooth finish and doing a perfect job with a brush inspired me and taught me that I can do anything, as long as I put hard work into it. Because you give me courage to make my dreams come true. it sounds cheesy but it´s true. You´ve been my biggest inspiration. Thank you.

I always cringe when you paint things green because it’s my least favorite color-but that comes from my builder dad going through his green phase! Everything he owned was green! No one could budge him on using it! Thank God he grew out of it!. I was so happy he moved on to a linen white phase! Having said that, I actually like the sage color you used! Great job!

Just a tip that might help you with your bondo sanding. There's what's called a "green stage" to the bondo and that is the best time to knock down most of the high spots. It might not be as bad on smaller spots like the drawers as it would be on a panel of a car but it might help save a little bit of time! The "green stage" time depends on how much hardener you add. Like always, these turned out nice!

You guys are awesome together! So this comes to mind: When we cast our bread on the waters ( as in talents in this case), in 7 or 8 ways we never what may return in times of trouble. Your bread is now returning to you… #word. This was a joy to watch! Btw: I flipped my first ever dresser and put red oak frame on it customer designed from your videos. I painted it with bin shellac twice, in Behr Chalk paint /lazy grey x 2, then added some Matt polycrylic to chalk paint and did two coats. I filled in holes and chose new hardware - that part was a right saga as the drawers were so thick I needed to go and buy new screws. Two visits to Lowe’s and the guys there were awesome and guy showed me a new tool for cutting screws. I too have two side tables I saved to try some valspar paint on. I was going to do the whole dresser but decided it maybe a bit risky after so much work prepping.. so I love you advice to try out new things on small pieces ( as I just held back from trying paint I have no clue about on a big project) I’m going to send you guys an email of the piece I flipped … I did it mainly because of what I’ve learned on this channel! Thank you. Finally I will look into that paint. I was beginning to think the furniture flipping world had sold out to Dixie Belle and Fusion mineral paints. I do love fusion paint have not used Dixie Belle yet. For beginners it’s good to know economy as well as quality. The Behr chalk was under $20 at Home Depot for @980ml ( no delivery) and it is beautiful and I have some left after doing a 9 drawer dresser two coats. I paid $23 (500ml fusion mineral paint ) x 2 plus $11 per pot deliver. Many beginners can’t afford that ( neither can I unless I begin selling it ), so I think trying promoting small business is good and also using a variety of products helps viewers think about what they can afford.
    The End 🤪

Thanks so much, Claire! This has to be one of my favorite comments, that is a principle we live by and Dean says often!! Way to go refinishing your first piece, that is no joke and a lot of work! I actually just found out a local shop carries the Dixie Bell all in one coat (I think called Silk) and I plan to try that too, along with another new all in one brand. But yes, I do love the Behr chalk paint and that I can pick a really specific color with it and pick it up any time!

Never having redone a piece of furniture before, how do you determine what steps to take (sanding, priming, type of paint, top coat etc) to do on each kind of wood? And how do you figure out what type of wood your piece is especially if you say pick it up on the side of the road or good will? I noticed in some of your videos you do different steps for each piece so I'm just feeling a little overwhelmed on what basics would be good to buy when just stating out! Thanks so much! Great duo work! :) 😊

Your first piece should be something simple like one of those side tables. Check it out all over looking for any type of damage that needs to be repaired cracked or missing pieces of veneer, mold, bubbles , water damage, broken feet or compromised structure like loose sides. As a beginner try to get it as close to perfect or something you know you can fix. Wash the piece off scuff sand with a 120 grit sand paper, prime thr piece if it is dark or red toned unless you are painting it a dark colour, then paint it whatever colour you desire, then top coat with polyurethane or wax. Make sure you wait the proper amount of time between steps for coats to dry properly. Or use Beyond Paint that claims you don't have to do all the steps I just said and just paint it. But always, always, always wash and rinse your piece first. I hope this helps you. My first piece was a 3 drawer dresser,I looked at it in a dark corner of an estate sale, it was ugly but though I could pretty it up. We got home and I realized it was toast. Only one drawer actually worked, the others had Vaseline on the slides to help them move. Mold at the bottom of the one side. I was upset but I didn't give up. I removed (treated it with lots of sunlight and hydrogen peroxide) the mold. I removed the side panels and building a kitchen island with it. I'm still working on it but I have already built a kitchen island from scratch. You can do it. Don't invest alot in it at first in case you don't like it. Also a cheap way to get paint are oops cans from hardware store. I find home depot the cheapest ( oops paint are can that someone wanted but didn't take because it wasn't the exact colour they wanted so the store discounts it)
