Ellefson is one classy dude. Just goes to show that even highly intelligent people can make mistakes from time to time. Its super cool that he hasn't let anything keep him down. Picked himself back up and went forward to new horizons. That is how real men live

Got to meet David and hang a few years ago, super humble, super genuine guy. He had no ego, wasn't sitting there like impatient to get away, gave his full attention, like long lost friends, something I'll never forget.
There was no reason for Ellefson to be fired it was probably just a reason for Mustaine to fire him so he could hire someone for 1/4 of what he paid Ellefson. I mean look at the singer from as I lay Dying he tried to get his wife killed and he’s back in his band.
This video implicitly answers the biggest question: how could Ellefson bear Mustaine's difficult personality for decades? Answer: Ellefson has an incredibly positive attitude, otherwise it would have been impossible apparently.
Ellefson is the reason why I like megadeth, his bass sound is just great, that was what make me want to play bass in the way I do... Without him, megadeth is just not megadeth.
If this is true it’s because he wanted to be a bigger band like Metallica. Lars is a simple drummer and that’s what sells that’s what gets played on the radio not blast beats.
Sounds more like Dave liked the way Lars played and wanted to keep some of that in his band. Certainly interesting since he would imply otherwise in interviews.
When I check back into the music from my youth and see the guys from Megadeth, Slayer, Metallica, etc I'm always shocked at how they've aged. But then I remember I'm their age and in my 50's also. As Mustaine says, "Time is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer to the end you get, the faster it moves."
In my mind Megadeth never sound completely like Megadeth without Ellefson. He's as much a part of the sound of the band as Mustaine is. Regardless of the talent of James Lomenzo (Steve Digiorgio) right now it's missing something to me.
people dont give The Ulrich the props he deserves. When I was a teenager, he was the most amazing drummer in the scene. The stuff he was doing as a kid ended up becoming staples of the genre forever....just like a fighter, i think once he got rich he just stopped pushing himself. No need to prove anything to anyone anymore....that's why every album after the Black one sucks balls....but the first five albums are pretty much the blue print for extreme metal, in pretty much every instrument....i think people just dont like his rockstar persona....but give him his due recognition
Ahhh so this is the missing peice of the puzzle. Mustaine must have been tired of Elifson trying to input creatively into the album writing lol. So he saw this internet "scandal" as his chance to cut him loose.
Interesting what he said about just being there to play bass for Dave's songs. I've always said Megadeth is Mustaine's baby and if you aren't comfortable raising someone else's kid then don't be in the band.😂

Ellefson was always kind to me, every time i met him... yet, Mustaine was always a egomaniac rockstar, who feels superior to all around him... and its so obvious, even in a 90 sec. conversation.
