I hope the Labour government watch these videos and approve the original plan they made, and this can be completed to Manchester and Leeds, and of course all the way down to Euston that’s the best way to get a good return on the taxpayers investment
The PM's official spokesperson stated just last week that despite rumours to the contrary, the government was NOT considering resurrecting plans for HS2 to continue on to Crewe or Manchester adding that .. "poor project management, inflation & poor performance from the chain had caused costs to spiral out of control" which is excellent news as HS2 is an environmental disaster of epic proportions & Britain's biggest infrastructure mistake in half a century.

you'll be able to get hs2 trains to manchester, but it might be just as expensive and conjested as before if not worse if the aditional works don't get completed
They want to at least create a new line, thats cheaper and not as fast, but will at least solve the capacity issue + will use the same trains so you would just be traveling a little slower on the sections from crewe onwards north.
I have to travel past these works at Lichfield to get to work . The Delay has been minimal , unfortunately the only hold ups have not been caused by HS2 ,but by idiots who ignored the 40mph speed limit and have crashed either into the concrete safety barrier or into other vehicles
a lot of details on hs2 future will be released next week as labour reveals the government budget (31st october). There is a lot of speculation that hs2 will probably connect further north up to Crewe.

5 hours ago? How did I find this?
Hi rce
The progress on this project is remarkable
Is it shite
An excellent update - thank you. Now. onwards to Handsacre Junction!

They basically are abandoning it, it won't even go to Manchester. London to Birmingham is not impressive
@zSion Yeah, that's the disappointing part

Incredible achievement, incredible work, congratulations
There is more to it than meets the eye. A most interesting update: cheers, guys. 🤔 👍
This is so exciting,I wonder when we will start seeing track laying.
👏👏👏
Great video. Not in an area of the UK I’ll probably ever explore, but still watched the whole video! 😂
I wish we'll have such good coverage for the Bordeaux-Toulouse & Dax LGV high-speed line!
keep chucking money at it for at least another 10 years.
88 piles to put in the ground and you have 1 crane piling ,thats about right ,no wonder this work will ages to do,money for pld rope
When the site isn't big enough to put more piling rigs on the site only 1 piling rig can be used.

Fantastic midlander accent.
There is no Midlander accent, it is a true Brummie Accent.

im a bit confused, why not use a normal bridge?

Is it me or does it look like this project has made more progress than CAHSR
Is phase 2 going to happen, otherwise why these works if trains stop at Birmingham? Great update on construction works.
This is part of phase 1 which will go as far as Handsacre Junction to connect onto the existing WCML.
