Awesome hunt. We had a buck do that with us years ago, my cousin shot a buck so close that it was too low for his scope, probably 12yds. All we found was a piece of skin and a single drop of blood at the shot site. Found the deer 125yds away and the chest cavity was totally full of blood. Bullet knocked loose a chunk of bone up into the heart but never entered the body cavity itself.
Greg is knowledgeable, but most hunters I know would have called that also, when I seen him walk off and not fall over after a few seconds I knew it wasn't heart shot it was a grazed brisket, I have hit 2 over the yrs that done the same thing and was grazed but mule kicked, guess it's just what kinda experience you have
@@troybrake5686 I never have done it but my buddy claims he has hit them in "noman's land" as he puts it and the deer kicks and the just hangs out with a big hole in its side like nothing happened lol He's shooting a 450 straight wall.

Is amazing with all the noise from that shot, and the huge smoke flag, and that buck never looked at you guys! Even with loading that smokestick back up. Man, I've missed with an arrow and had em stare me right in the eyes, immediately! Congrats Teddy, good hunt...and that pack mount should be amazing!

Having watched your opening scene with the gun on sticks and the way you slapped the daylights out of that trigger, it is little wonder the first shot on the deer went low. Having said that, I find it amazing the movement you fellas get away with on a regular basis. It does help the wind that you're in but, reloading that smoke pole, just wow.
I noticed the same thing in the open footage of him sighting in the rifle. Yanking hard instead of gradual squeeze. Will pull the shot off target every time. Just need some practice with and observer or record yourself and watch it back for shooting form.
Having a rough season this year here in Oregon fell on some rough times had to sell most of my hunting gear watching you guys tag out has kept me sane this season through the struggle hahaha nice buck and good work boys

How are you guys finding bedding in the bottoms? Usually in my woods, it is all points, nobs, and good thick areas hold deer. Curious as to these bottom beds…

Yes I agree that the weather is fixing to be great for an early season buck . You did about I do but I am in west central Mississippi and it’s still just to dry but everything is starting out and a good season. Keep on chasing those big ole boys. Great job fellas. I enjoy every episode of THP. One thing I noticed is how hard it was for Ted to load his second round in his muzzleloader. I use Blackhorn 209 powder and love the ease of second and even third shots to be loaded. Just something to consider. Keep up the good content guys and good luck throughout the rest of the season.

Shooting my muzzleloader became a lot more fun when I finally threw away those awful pellets and switched to blackhorn209. I heard you mention the bullet wouldn't seat and thats because all those pellets use a binding agent similar to sugar, and that binding agent doesn't burn and builds up in your barrel making it hard to load. Switch to blackhorn209 and you will love it! Awesome buck! You boys are definitely redeeming yourselves this year!
agreed 100%. That's all I use in my inline pistol and rifle. you can get 30 shots with smooth reloads that don't bind up when seating the bullet and sabot. BH209 is very easy cleaning also. BH209 for the win! speed loaders are a great thing to haha!
To see a buck like that as 3 guys are stomping through the woods wearing orange and camera gear in toe is next to impossible but to get a second shot with the smoke pole after the big bang, smoke, the buck getting grazed and all 3 guys scrambling around and talking as ted is reloading is just crazy lol. They are on TV. The old model is becoming obsolete. This is probably way more profitable than a hunting TV show. From what I’ve heard, it cost a ton of money to produce a hunting TV show.

Thanks Ted for the welding instructions. Lol I like that pack mount. My last mount a was a pack mount. We used old barn wood from the farm it was shot on.
Sweet hunt! Way to go Ted! By the looks of how that went down.. maybe have a bullet, powder charges, and cap in a tube at the ready next time? lol. I take the tubes the powder pellets come in and put two pellets. bullet and cap in 3 of them. 1 in pocket and 2 in the pack.
