- Over 150 battle tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, personnel carriers, transport vehicles, trailers and other equipment of the US Army travel on the back of a Union Pacific locomotive through the Mojave Desert, California. A routine movement for the area.
Seen in this video are M2/M3 Bradley Fighting Vehicles (BFV), M1A2 Abrams Main Battle Tanks (MBTs), M113 Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs), M577 Command Post Carrier, Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTVs), High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) aka 'Humvee', Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTVs), a Cougar Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicle (MRAP), Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Trucks (HEMTT), their variants, support vehicles, dozers, and other items of equipment. The locomotive is a Union Pacific ET44AH.

Looks to be coming or going to the Army's National Training Center at Fort Irwin in the Mojave Desert. I was a combat trainer there in the early 1980s.
I was there for a month or so in 69 with CDEC. Experiment with the M60 and the Sheridan.
Saw a similar event at Ft. Hood as field exercises were halted and tanks, artillery, and trucks were loaded directly on railroad cars from the field. We knew something was serious as the equipment was filthy and unwashed. Since we had been in the field on war games for a couple of weeks, we were unaware on the Cuban missile crisis.
It really was that close to a real war and not just a game.

This reminds me after getting back to the states from Desert Storm in 91’ of all the armored vehicles getting put on trains like these and being carried back to Fort Stewart GA from the port of Savannah.

Damn !! I live near two double tracks. Twice now, for the mid- East wars... huge military trains came by. Fully loaded. Every piece for a unit. And it parked overnight!! Then, once the War was over... i saw some of the same equipment coming back. Worn out- looking.

I did something similar during an exercise in the Philippines. We had hundreds of trucks shipping assets like AAVs and LAVs from the 31st MEU to different areas of the country. Saw a Howitzer get flipped over during transit too lol. Pretty cool experience.

@@moviewatcher1239 an armored brigade combat team will have (about) 950 pieces of equipment, weather it be tanks, brads, APCs and other wheeled vehicles and their trailers. It's a lot to move and takes a few trains to accomplish the task, they spend millions of dollars transporting all these vehicles to California or Louisiana every year for training

I just witnessed a train running east toward Mojave running with absolutely none of it lights illuminated on the front or back of the train at 1:00 am. I hope the crew is ok

Excellent video not often that we get to see videos showing the train at the railhead. I assume this was around Dec 1st or 2nd? The equipment belongs to 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team; 4th Infantry Division from Fort Carson, CO returning from Ft Irwin, CA National Training Center Rotation 24-02.

floors with about 22 apartments on each floor. I usually see or meet all kinds of military personnel. Women are mostly Navy intelligence officers, lot of sailors and marines, Pilots or sofisticated enlisted. Here over a week ago I hardly see any….
