Manual mode is very handy on the steep hills we have here in NZ, often expecting machinery to climb beyond 30°.We have an old CVX 150, weighs ten tonnes ballasted and you do not want that sliding off a grassy slope.Auto mode tends to apply too much torque to the wheels and either digs holes cultivating, or sends you into a slide on grass wrok. With manual, you can make the engine pull down to 1150 revs where necessaray, and keep traction
So I have been told by my mechanic that I should always use the transmission in manual mode when working in the field because it's easier on the transmission. So is this not true then? And I'm save to let the tractor handle it even if I'm ploughing for example?
You don't have to use the got throttle though to get your son up you can also use the hand throttle. Which isn't much of a difference to me from cvt mode. the only difference is that the foot throttle is only a foot throttle

Does it speed up on the downhill,we have a 185 cvx and it won't hold travel speed or revs when spreading fertiliser on our hills.
its so nice to have to option of driving it old school, its still not a stick shift but its a great thing to have
I totally agree. Its now more like a hydro than a CVT. This way there is no "one" way of how you like to drive.

Cool

Don't you have to use the clutch?
WHy does it look so complicated?
