Also, we show you how to use flint and steel to make a fire, including how to make the necessary char cloth and char punk. It's a lot of fun and we suggest that you give it a try!

About 10 years ago, we were dispersed camping in Washington state when about dark an old car pulled up behind us. In the car were 2 men and a few children in the back seat. They wanted to know if it was OK for them to park there but we told them there was a pullout just a little further down. When they were about to leave, they asked if we had any food to spare. We gave them a couple of hot dogs. We thought it very strange that 2 men were traveling with children. At that time I had never heard of child trafficking. Not saying they were, but highly suspicious.
Obviously the woman is not a camper. Most city folk have a smaller personal bubble than those who live in wider open spaces. Stay safe!
I never understood it until now. But I think you're right.
Some people have a strong herd/flock mentality. Very different from a western/independent type of mindset. I'm friendly, but I like my space!

One of the items I keep around to spark a fire is dryer lint. It will spark up like the char you used.

Thank you for the cooking lesson and fire starting too. It’s really strange that the woman would just come into camp like that. Seems like even if she comes there everyday she would maybe park a little bit away so as not to disturb you guys.
As always an enjoyable video, the flint and steel was interesting, I have a store bought model but the same idea and it kept my grandson (7) busy for hours in the summer, he found an old mouse nest which worked the best. Your campsite visitor was strange indeed, it would also have caused me some trepidation.
We we're uncomfortable at first and then were concerned for her. She parked and then, without saying anything to us, or even a wave, headed into the brush and disappeared.
The key ingredient in the pasta was love. Hope you guys are safe and healthy. She probably had no idea it was not polite to go in someone's area. She may have mentioned it to someone else later and they explained it to her, so she stopped elsewhere the next day. I think the 2 biggest reasons people decide to share your camp area is not knowing it is not polite and some people need to be by other people to feel safe. She may have thought you look like good people and it would be safe to stop there. If I saw you I would pull into your camp site, but it would be to say hello.

I noticed there were a lot of tire tracks. It doesn't surprise me that she comes there every day.
Don't know about Nv., but If I remember right, in Az. you can camp anywhere you want on B.L.M camping areas, as long as you at least 15 or 20 feet ? away from other campers .
At least you know what to expect when you camp there. A welcome committee!!

At first we were uncomfortable, but then we got concerned for her because she avoided eye contact, headed into the brush and disappeared.

A Caddy would be the last vehicle I would drive off of a paved road let alone drive where you all are at. Maybe she was looking for a good place to dump a body. Very odd. I was camping in the desert with my girlfriend a few years ago in Big Bend National Park. It was a remote site, and the same thing happened to us. Anyway, a man pulled in next to us about 75' away at late dusk. I was not real nice when I went up to him and asked him to leave. He asked why and I told him it was a big desert but mostly he was a creepy dumbass without a lick of sense and if I found him creeping around our campsite at night, he was fixing to have a really bad time. He got back in his truck and left while I watched his tail lights disappear about a mile away. My Dad always told me to never ignore my gut instinct especially when combined with a creepy feeling. This guy maxed out both.
Lots of city people do NOT understand how to not be by other people. They camp in top of each other, stand in lines so close they can smell your hair!
Some other people may have flattened her tires, and left. That might fix her inconsideration of parking in a no parking zone.

Anyway, thinking of Y'all having made these episodes in advance of your departure back to the Frozen Tundra I just can't fathom how you do it there. The furnace bit the dust here, and for three days n nights the Girls ( my Dogs) and I have been Frozen Solid. I couldn't bring in my wood burning stove bc of no flu up the roof. Even 33° is Too Cold for indoors. Y'all are Tough up there in Montana. Regarding the odd-ball situation with the Camp Buster in the Caddy, Cripes. My father was a Big Time outdoorsman, hunter & all around camper in Any weather. I learned from him Everything I know. Including NEVER WALK INTO another campsite with risk of being Shot. Up in the Hindu Basin, Wenatchee Nat. Forest in Wash. state where we Elk hunted via pack horses, several Doki-Beans indeed got shot by my dad's Cowboy buddies. ALWAYS CALL OUT, if ya need to get close to people camping in the wilderness, Always. How unerving that woman was, and we never know what they are thinking. Me, I'm the nicest guy out here, just Don't Surprise or Challenge me. I can turn Ugly n mean in a Mico Second. That be said, I'm really just a scared wimp. Rick, you n Linda handled that Perfect. Still, very creepy n we Never know these days as our world is falling apart.----Three major injections into my shoulder wed. and now they think it is More involved. An update later today, this is getting long. My apologies. God Bless. Oh, I have Tons of coffee, real good stuff, ya want more??? Say yes, SAY YES.
Keep me informed on what they do to your shoulder. I'm just getting by with ibuprofen to keep the inflammation down. That's the thing about winter that makes me crazy - not being able to enjoy the outdoors as much.

People now days have zero manners. We were camping in a campground on the river. Had a man walk right thru our campsite several times to go visit his friends that were several sites down on the other side of us. I finally stopped him and told him we were renting our site and he could go on the road to visit his friends. He thought I was rude! I told him he is the rude one walking thru our stuff! We were at home and had a teen boy that walked thru our yard and thru our field to visit a friend a few miles away. My husband caught him one day and pointed out our private property signs...he was confused! Said he didn't know it meant he couldn't walk there. My husband explained that this is our property and we don't want strangers here and his wife is crazy and may shoot instead of explaining! He has never stepped onto our land since! Lol
We had a man that used to drive through our property and insisting he had an easement (he didn't) and we had to keep calling the sheriff. The he sold his land and told the new owner that she had an easement! She drove through our property and I informed her otherwise. The next day she came over and said that she checked with the county and I was right, she didn't have an easement! She turned out to be a great neighbor.
Maybe she goes walking there long before ye ever camped there ?
Maybe they thought it was safer near someone while walking.

She probably was hoping you'd keep an eye on her car while she walks her dog. She obviously trusted you guys to park close to you.
It would have been nice if she would have acknowledged us in some way before she disappeared into the brush. We we're uncomfortable at first and then became concerned for her.
@@gonagain I would have felt exactly what u guys felt. It was quite gracious of how you handled her. As u noticed something was off about her. She may have been trying to "run away" from something for awhile and she probably felt you had "good vibes." But then again what if she was psychotic. I thought you were both very brave and gracious on how u handled her. But I do wonder whether u have some form of protection just in case.

I've had the same thing happen, camp in the middle of nowhere, come back from a hike and someone has started setting up camp right next to me. I think its people afraid of being out there alone who want other people around them - just like campgrounds. Most of the time, I just stare at them until they leave. A buddy of mine says he just strips down and starts walking around naked and waving at them - I'm not that brave. Usually I end up just leaving - lots of places to camp and Im pretty mobile. Yes its public land but very dangerous walking up to someone else's camp unannounced. Didn't they watch all those Westerns growing up?
Most people can't help it. People are wired to be around other people. It's human nature. Just as Isolation is not good for people.
I just talk to them and tell them I like my space...

My biggest outdoors pet peeve, common sense is another seriously deficient quality these days, "the movie theater is empty and you walk over my feet to sit right next to me!" kinda thing lol

Linda is a absolute gem. I could listen to her read a book on how to tie shoes and she would still be just as delightful. Don't worry Rick, we love you too. If I was gonna invade your camp, I would atleast bring pie. Your spidey senses were on point. You just never know about people. You two be safe out there. The Gone Again mantra, Have pie, will travel.
If you bring pie, you don't even have to call ahead!
We've had people walk right through our camp before too. It's bizarre behavior. It was a family and they winded their way between our things and past our chairs. My dogs lost their minds and I don't blame them. I didn't scold them or stop them from barking either. We were in the trailer at the time and I just wonder if they weren't looking for something to steal and the dogs made them keep walking.

Reading these accounts of intrusion brought back a bizarre memory.
In 2004 we bought a small cabin in a northern NM resort area we'd been visiting for two decades. For our own privacy we'd always avoided being there on weekends and holidays for riding the jeep trails. We rented a room in the village for our two to three night stays.
The first time we stayed at the cabin after purchase we were sitting on the back deck 15 ft above the ground when we heard voices of small children close by. There was a multi-family group of around ten people walking through our fairly steep (for children) side yard. We were so high up they didn't see us. We only saw the tops of the adults heads.
Phase 2 of intruders was a gaggle of teens who took the easy route... onto our front porch that leads to a narrow side deck connecting to our huge back deck. At least they had the decency to greet us when they saw we were sitting around our deck table relaxing after a late brunch. They explained they've always used the property to access the river, which is 150 ft down a steep grade with a barely discernable trail of switchbacks, a couple of sections of 4 to 5 rotten railroad timber steps and other sections of rocklined, narrow path. They all navigated the descent as if they were quite familiar. What was hilarious was the next door neighbor had a perfectly built set of newish stairs from their back deck down to the river. The neighbor on our other side had a graded gravel driveway all the way down, but neither of them has any flat ground down at river level like we do along our 300 ft of river frontage.
What does one say to people who assert precedence to use property because they were once invited there for a meal with a church group? 🤷♀️
My liability lawyer side swung into action. We bought no trespassing signs to post on the front fence, where the decks on each side of the house lead to the back deck, to the point where the descent to the river abruptly becomes more steep and "rough" to traverse... and a big umbrella insurance policy.
It boils down to this. Urban residents and suburbanites are accustomed to sharing open space with others. They don't grasp that the outdoor space around your camper or tent is your living room.
I paid a little extra for a quaint 1300 sq ft one bedroom cabin on a 2 acre river lot because I value privacy. I expect privacy. My mountain abode is where I go to decompress and relax.

Well said as half full time campers we r still shocked how people just walk through our paid for campsite with a fire going and us sitting around said fire ..like so what .. I've started considering it a threat and video them
My Sister and husband had the same problem with trespassers until they put up bullet ridden sheet metal -targets"in various locations.. lol

Love it! I've been planning on building a shed on the back deck to house our big gas grill, some firewood and our outdoor chair cushions. I've been waffling on whether to cover this little shed with wood siding or old corrugted metal. =D I think you helped me make a lingering decision...
We used to have a beautiful A frame 3 story cabin in the San Bernardino mtns my whole family loved and used. Our neighbor became close friends with one of my brothers family and she would sometimes do "caretaker" style favors for us. Not an actual employee ever. But that didn't stop her from turning her ankle on the walkway and suing my Dad's insurance $$$ That was the last straw for my Dad he sold it. still so resentful 😢
@gongcircle507 You know, since owning my little mountain retreat I've heard numerous accounts of people getting rid of property under circumstances very similar to yours. I'm sorry that happened, it's obvious you're deeply disappointed to have lost access to the place.
I have a neighbor who lived in his cabin year around until recently. He was always hinting for a job as my caretaker. I'd learned he retired from US Postal Service early through disability, and a local acquaintance had told me he took pain meds, which he believed accounted for his frequent fender bender auto wrecks. I was thankful to have been warned. Other neighbors weren't warned and hired him to do odd jobs at their cabins. Some were satisfied with his work, some not.
Another woman on down our dead-end road who visited her cabin intermittently told me he knocked on her door long after dark one night with some wild excuse to enter uninvited. He did that to me late one night not long after we bought the place. He was nosey, wanted to learn if I was there alone or if my husband or daughter was present.
Such a busy body, and gossiped about our little group of neighbors to the whole town. His meddling in our affairs made hiring local contractors difficult for all of us, as he'd pretend to be our care-taker whenever contractors showed up to work. He stopped a contractor I'd hired to pressure wash and restain my log siding by creating doubt that I could pay for his work after my husband died. The meddling was so pervasive I stopped trying to hire people. I'm looking forward to a new, less dominant, hopefully part-time resident, neighbor since learning he had to move to a lower altitude for his health.
Very strange how someone would come into your camp like that! I know that some people have no social filters and others never learned that you never enter anyone's camp without asking permission. I agree that it was extremely rude and inconsiderate.

If a person does this, they're extremely disrespectful, maybe just completely unaware of why people drive for miles out into the wilderness but... something ain't right, especially if you have kids now you gotta be on guard and your peaceful communion with nature is gone , better off leaving, uggh people.
She's probably just checking to make sure that the coyotes didn't uncover the body of her X that she buried last week. LOL

I had this happen to me recently. Out by myself. Looked up and a car pulled up and wanted to use my table to set at. I was in a place that supplied tables. I wasn't using it but it was on MY site. I guess they don't understand camping etiquette!
From my observations, people (especially city folk) are terrified to be alone in the wild and gravitate towards others. The funny part is, it's those others they should fear the most but oddly people fear being alone, the dark and animals more so. I only camp in very difficult places to get to. The more crappy the trail the better and I always try to box myself in and limit my visibility to others passing by. Our goal when we camp is to not see another human for the whole trip which has been made harder by all the city people cruising around on side by sides but still doable. Made it 10 days in NM and only seen one couple on a SXS as we were packing up. Stay safe though, lots of nuts out in the woods and desert.

I agree with you it's weird...but it happens all the time. I've also had people intrude into my wilderness camps on many occasions and it's always very unsettling. Oh, and the same thing happens in parking lots... I'll park far away from everyone else and within a matter of minutes someone will feel the need to pull up right alongside my rig... it's infuriating ! I've come to the conclusion that most humans have a subconscious desire to be around others, perhaps it makes them feel more safe. Like you, I travel into the back country to get far away from people.... that's the whole point and I find it very intrusive when people rudely decide to set up camp within close proximity. Oh well, some people are very annoying.... LOL ! Great episode guys, have a wonderful weekend !

I have the opposite effect. I can pull into an almost full parking lot, go in and come back out, and no cars would be around my vehicle. All the cars around will be three cars away or farther. My wife and children would be laughing and trying to figure out why.
When I had a bumper pull camper a few years back, I'd travel between Canada and US to visit my kids. There was a town on the route so when I was tired, I'd pull into a parking lot to rest. Never failed that someone would shop at 24 hour Walmart or Pharmacy and pull up right beside my trailer. I'd be falling asleep at midnight and hear the vehicle pull up and all 4 doors open, people yelling as they conversed and all in reverse 10-30 mins later when they returned. Always made me scratch my head why anyone would purposely do that and not realize someone was resting in the camper.
Never fails, Murphy law, no matter where you park someone will park right next to you, people have no common sense anymore 😡😡😡😡
We have had that happen to us. Not sure what her deal was but for us my husband went up to them and ask what gives. They looked shocked and assumed they could camp 15 feet from our RV since it's public land. With over ONE MILLION Acres to chose from they wanted to be on top of us. We go way up in the mountains to get away from people and so our dogs can run free and be dogs and we love quiet. The knucklehead who camped overnight next to us had his tent peed on my 2 outta our 3 big dogs. Whoopsie.😮 Another time a couple drive into our camp and asked if the could camp. He asked "permission" at least. My husband instead gave them directions to a lovely campsite 5 minutes away. They happily drove away and we could actually see them across the river waving and giving a thumbs up.
What a wonderful video, you and Linda are the best story tellers! I'm a crown land camper in the mountains up here in Alberta, but I look forward to seeing the diversity of camping in the desert country. We have come across some odd situations like this from time to time as well. Thanks so much.

The woman in the car probably parked next to you because you looked like respectable people that would watch out for her and her car. I've had people do this to me before. That woman is obviously not a camper type person, she's unaware of good camping etiquette.

I think that city dwellers get so used to being inches away from people, that they don’t even realize how close they’re to people.
I remember one time we were camped at a dam on the Columbia River & the parking lot was wide open. When we woke up the next morning, some old man had backed up literally feet from our motorhome.
He was from California & I truly believe that he just felt safer being closer to other people..
Other times we’ve parked way out in a vacant store lot because we were pulling a trailer & had someone park right in front of us, so we’d need to back up before we could leave ..

My first thought was that she was a “Covid” camper, I had people walking through my camp within ten feet of me and I said hi to them and they ignored me and kept on walking. Anyway, I glad it worked out and you guys are Safe!!

Agreed. It's inconsiderate to behave that way. There are a lot of people out there that are either mentally ill or just plain ignorant. But you handled it the best way you could.
Just two days ago I was in a campground that had 8 or 10 spots big enough for big travel trailers and a group of four trucks pulling two cargo trailers with ATVs and two flatbeds with a ATVs rolled in and walked up on my camp to explain they were going to be there for 3 days and they were going to have a fire and I didn't quite know how to read it because I found out they are locals who come there a lot for that same thing and I thought the same thing as you that they felt like I was in there territory and maybe I had no business out there. Needless to say I had to move on the next morning because they ran generators at night and made a lot of noise and you know how those ATVs can get with dust coming into your camp as they romp in and out of camp all day and even into the night.
Yep, annoying A F, that's why I end up bringing an accord or civic into rougher terrains, I seek wilderness for its lack of people, they almost always let you down and the dirtbike/quad/dune buggy crowd, uhhhh, don't they realize they could have more fun and circle their camp in noise and dust AWAY from people and have a better time for everyone involved sheesh

We just had a little bit similar experience last month. We camped at a regular site at a camp ground but remote and empty. There are some 1-3 mile trails around the site. An unleashed big dog appeared around 8am during our morning fire/coffee and as we're wondering if the dog was lost a woman appeared and said "Oh I live nearby and I walk here every day" as she walked thru. Similar to you here wasn't anything threatening about her or her dog but felt it wasn't right and she did not stop or talk. Later that day we explored the area by car and there's no campsite or home or other campers or anything within 5miles - so the comment "I live nearby" didn't make sense. The next day she + dog walked thru again at 8am without a word. Sigh... not creepy but definitely unwanted and we did pay our nightly $16 for the site.
Yeah, people are weird and rude. I was camped at a spot on a river and up comes a dually truck, parks right in from of my vehicle, a couple walks through my camp and starts fishing. From my camp! According to them, this was their “favorite fishing hole.” So I guess they thought that gives them the right of ownership. This was in a dedicated camp spot open to the public. So weird. They were there a couple hours and caught nothing….

I use a hacksaw blade (the non cutting edge) and Ferrocerium rod. To start even your gas stove when you dont have matches or lighter. Why waste a match. Using flint produces a 400 degree spark, however, using Ferrocerium produces a 900 degree spark. Loved the demo Linda with the pressure cooker and fire start. Good job.
I carry a good size ferrocerium rod as well and like it a lot, but there's just something satisfying about doing it the old way too.
that's pretty good that this was the 1st time that happened to you. I hear other campers say that that happens all the time. They find a place off away from everyone and someone always pulls in right near them. At least you know it will only be 1.5 hrs each day.
As I’m just starting your video - In my humble opinion possibly it’s a place she’s familiar with and didn’t look upon it as a personal campsite. Or she felt comfortable temporarily parking where non-threatening senior citizens are at while walking her dog.🤷🏻♀️
Yeah maybe, but a wave or a hello would have helped. We ended up being concerned for her after she disappeared into the brush without even making eye contact.
Do not underestimate people...middle aged or not... becareful. You never know.
That was truely a strange experience! My wife and I had a sort of similar experience in Cave Mountain campground near Choteau MT.
As you know,it is pretty isolated and we were the only ones in the campground at that time. The guy just walked into our campsite and hung around until we politely made it clear that we did not want company.
That's weird. We like that area a lot.

People are strange for sure.. I've had that happen as well. Camped in the middle of nowhere and someone parks right next to you. Some people just don't understand the concept of space.. maybe they're used to State/RV parks etc where you're jammed in close. You made the best of it tho.. take care guys 😁👍
I think some people seek safety, perhaps instinctively, by being close to others. It’s an interesting phenomena, I wonder if they even realize they are doing it?
At first we were upset by this woman parking in our camp (the wide angle lens makes it look like she's further away than she actually is), but then we became concerned about her safety because her actions didn't make sense. Some of you think I was rude to her, but I was very nice and even offered her coffee or a cold drink. Also, other than her not saying anything to us and avoiding eye contact with us until after she returned to her car (even then she didn't respond when I said hello), she wasn't rude either! It's just that her behavior was unnerving and anyone that camps in remote areas will understand that.
I used to run into some strange characters nearby while camping but never really had anyone just set up shop right in my campsite.
One trip back in the day in California me and shooting buddy planned a 3 day trip out in my old stomping grounds east of 29 palms in the Sheephole Valley before Clinton shut that whole area down. We loaded up at my place in my Toyota pickup and headed out. Once we hit the dirt and some bumps all of a sudden my neighbors short haired grey tabby tom cat came through my sliding back glass from the bed and camper shell into the cab. The little bastard had stowed away while we were loading up. He was a cool cat though and tended to hang out with me while my neighbor was away. Well we were not going to turn back so the cat was now our guest for the duration. We headed to our regular campsite on the west side of the dry lakebed but once we got in view of the site we saw that a big group of off roaders were already there camping. We decided to go over to the east side of the lakebed and see what we could find there. We actually found a real nice spot with a lot of cover within some monzonite quartz formations and someone had built a really nice fire ring. We set up there and went on a little hike with our guest and our AR-15s looking for some bunnies. A pretty spot but devoid of rabbits unlike our other spot. We stayed for the night, the cat got to share in our ribeye steaks and I improvised a litter box so I could keep him in the truck for the night safe from coyotes.
The next morning right at sunup we checked out our old spot with binoculars and saw the off roaders caravanning out of there. We decided to head to our old spot to do some hunting before it got too hot. We rolled in, suited up in our cammies and deuce gear and went hiking up the canyon with our AR-15s. That area proved to be a bust too. It got hot quick and nothing was out so we headed back to the truck still planning to camp there the next night. The sand was getting too hot for the cat's feet so I picked him up and let him ride on my shoulders and backpack. On the way back we noticed a modified for 4 wheel drive conversion van with a cargo container trailer similar to yours but it had windows. I removed my detachable rifle scope and checked it out. It kind of looked like it might be stuck and abandoned but we were both perplexed as to why we hadn't seen it on the way into the area or on the way out to our hike but it was positioned in such a way we might have just drove in then walked right passed it without seeing it from where I parked. We decide to give it a wide birth on the way back to my truck. Once we got back and stowed our gear we took a quick drive by the van and saw someone peeking out of the curtain. I stopped and hollered out the window, "Are you guys OK?" The person just waved and gave me the thumbs up so we split and went to one of our alternate campsites east of Joshua Tree which is now part of the monument and off limits to hunters. On the way there we were talking and laughing at what that person or persons probably thought of us. We were dressed like commandos, carrying AR-15s and I had a kitty cat riding on my back. We were the strange characters in that encounter.
What a great story, thanks for sharing. We used to have a cat named Shipwreck who went on hikes with us and would fiercely protect our girls who were just in their teens.
I currently have a big flame point Siamese cat named Suki. He was a supposedly feral cat that a couple of gay women had trapped near their property and gave to a buddy of mine out on his property in Yucca AZ while I was living there and trying to help him out to aid in rodent control. For a few weeks I just got glimpses of him here and there as he roamed the ranch. Then one day he was near my RV and as I walked passed him he ran up and grabbed my leg. I kicked him off wondering WTF since for all I knew this cat could have rabies and is going off on me. I backed away considering this an attack and even drew my pistol. He ran came up to me again and just started purring and trying to climb my leg. Apparently he had just chosen me as his human. That didn't go well with my "former" buddy's wife/old lady whatever since she was a crazy cat lady with 8 cats and that cat hated her and would run from her. She got all pissed and didn't want that cat on the property since it was friendly with me and not her. She trapped him and sort of like the wicked witch of The Wizard of Oz took him back to the lesbians who had brought him there. They lived a good 5 miles as a crow flies from there across the desert but the next day he returned. I just told her and my buddy to go F themselves and leave the cat alone. I got him checked out with a vet and vaccinated and now he is my best buddy and local hiking and hunting partner now that I live on my own place off grid away from those idiots. He chases down rabbits, tackles and holds them down for me. I just step on their heads to avoid wasting ammo and share the meat with him. @@gonagain

LOL HI Rick and Linda! I was drooling and intently watching the spaghetti prep and then you said "Is there Pie" and I burst out laughing... startled the dog and she gave me a weird look. Fortunately there was no one else around to hear my outburst...
I have had a person pull up to my already long set up camp, strut in like he owned the place and states "this is where I camp every year" and then stood there looking at me expectantly as if I'm going to jump up and take down my tent, pack everything up and leave... after a minute of awkward silence he wandered through the camp eyeing all my stuff and went to look at the creek and then came back through and got in his rig... and sat there watching for awhile... maybe thinking I was going to leave??? I just ignored him while watching out of the corner of my eye... Some people are really proprietary about things that do not belong to them... or maybe they feel entitled? Anyways he eventually left. I was kind of weirded out by it and stuck by camp all day. People have been known to evict you from your campsite for similar reasons while your away exploring.
My first thought when you showed the Cadillac and mentioned the incident that maybe she just felt more comfortable knowing that there were people around... and I did consider for a few seconds that she might be there to put the dog or herself down... then shortly you explained her entitled explanation and I thought "LOONEY"! Loonies typically don't know personal and social values (or ignore them) and they are unpredictable so I avoid them whenever possible... especially in remote places.

Year ago we took our little granddaughter for a hike and when we came back to camp there was a couple trying to cram their trailer into the little spot where we were. There wasn't even room for them to fit! But as soon as we walked back into camp they thought better of it and left before i had to say anything.
Hi guys! It's been a while since I've commented or said hello. That's crazy behavior. You guys need a dog to alert you to things around your campsite especially at night. I know Linda is armed so I don't worry too much for you. It's why we bought our property. The best campsite on the planet for the first several years but we now are nearing completion of our "Mountain lodge style" Timber Frame cabin. I camp in the Mojave when I travel to work on the property (Half Moon Bay, Ca. - Williams Az.). I have a 12 ga. shotgun next to me at all times. Thinking about getting a handgun but probably not necessary (until it is!) . Take care. Stay safe.

Handguns are a necessity because with a good holster they are easily kept on you 24/7, even when you don't feel like carrying a shotgun, you never know lol
Williams is a cool area in the right spots, sounds like an awesome place for a cabin. When I drive through Williams or anywhere else I promise you'll never see my car or fire, I'm not "that guy" lol

We've rented in the San Francisco bay Area for 40 years. I couldn't build here even if we could have bought land the cost of building anything in California has been taken away by the Government policy makers , regulations, exorbitant permit fees and restrictions to building. We have to leave to find freedom, refuge and safety.

First of all it’s 9am when I’m watching this video and you inspired me to make spaghetti in my InstaPot. It turned out delicious. Luckily I had everything except Parmesan cheese but I survived. 😂 Second that woman was weird but that happens so many times to me. Last month a huge new NuWave Class A parked right next to me in the forest. Their was so many places to camp. Both sides of their rig had windows and I felt very uncomfortable walking outdoors. I asked them if everything is ok and if they were new at camping because most campers don’t park so close to another camper. He said, “You don’t own the forest!” Hahaha I said well enjoy your stay. They stayed 5 days. I’ll never understand how people can be so rude. I could have moved but had had just unpacked. One time a group moved in when I was in Leadville CO and they had 13 dogs running loose and crapping everywhere. 😢
It's too bad that there are people who have no regard for others space and privacy and think only of themselves. Luckily though, most regular campers get it and act accordingly.

We were boondocking in a campsite well off the road with friends, and a big camper pulled into our site and ran their generator all night. Unbelievable. I never forgot that. Weird.

Shes probably on meth. I had a group of methheads pull up near my campsite back in January. I was the only one camping out there. A bunch of shooting occurred nearby, these guys pulled up at a nearby site, and dragged some things into the woods. One of the guys walked silently 600ft through the woods without his light right into my campsite to "check out the neighbors". It wasn't too long afterwards one of the ladies in their group started wandering off into a field ranting about the police and the criminal justice system and being incarcerated. Needless to say, i packed up and left. Some folks are insane, some are on drugs, and then theres those other folks who intend to rob or murder someone...maybe after their friends come back to assist them.

In case anyone is unsure if the Cadillac ladies action was wrong. Yes, absolutely wrong. Not uncommon either unfortunately. I’ve tried to understand how or why someone violates other peoples personal space and there is no good reason for it. It’s wrong.
I spent a decade camping, hiking, hunting ,throughout the American SouthWest. I specifically AVOIDED any commercial/popular sites, because I don't enjoy nature with the close proximity of other people! In all my travels, I've crossed paths with quite a few good folk. I've also crossed paths with a few that raised the hairs on the back of my neck, and I made sure THEY KNEW their presence was not appreciated, nor would it be tolerated. (Body language, and my open-carrying tools were quite effective in transmitting this sentiment!).
I was fortunate, in that being a lone woman, I've never suffered any real harassment, or assault from any person while out-and-about.

Hello there your video appeared on my feed the title of your video caught my attention. You can't be too careful and be overprotective another Channel l subscribe to call jailbreak Overland was camping out in the Ozark he travels all over the country and knows these campgrounds. He knows no one's usually there but he came across a young beautiful girl and her dog , she to started up a small talk and get information from him since he did like her dog but something about her Disturbed him ,so when she left in the evening it just didn't seem right to him. Something told him he needed to get out of there but he's able to handle trouble makers but got out of there and moved across from campsite far away so he could watch it from where he was in pitch black. He Watch his old campsite for at least 4 hours until about 1:00 a.m. then two trucks pull up one with the girl and other with three guys looking for him they were going try to steal his stuff and his Rig! Lucky lfor those young punk criminals they didn't cross paths cuz this person Shirley would have killed them either by his bare hands or the weapons he carries in his vehicle since he's been in and out of prison before he found God and turned new leaf! Trust no situation when you're by yourself in a remote place as a family! HEY your VIDEO is great too!

Just be truthful in a kind way and ask her if she'd mind walking in another spot because you were camping there and needed the privacy. People don't like to cause "problems" but it tends to get bigger if you don't find an honest and kind way to let them know your needs.

We had a man and a large dog go out of their way to walk through our campsite in Brevard NC last month our little pomchi went wild letting us know they were to close..they had to go over a rope fence first time shame on you second time shame on me..I was ready to let him have it..did not try it a second time bet out pup helped detur him . permeant campers were there but they don't own the place tho some act that way ..we love the campground but not the rude campers we go out of our way to pick up others trash and keep our distance.. u two take care..spaghetti looked fab. No stealth trailers do not come from the factory with screws down the seams,I worked for Alcom the assembly plant in Bonner montana for 5 years

Yes, Mountain Juniper. There are no native true cedars in North America. The smell in summer among them is amazing. Unfortunately for many, they're a total misery during bloom. I like Linda's method of cooking!

Happens in parking lots all the time. I got a big pick up truck so I'll park further out in the supermarket lot. They'll be no cars around me when i leave but every time i come back some one has parked right next to my drivers door making it hard to get back in.

I think you could be right. She was pleasant, but avoided contact with us and came back the next day, but parked up the road a bit.
