    It's inspiring to see such a high quality boat receiving the steady attention to maintenance and upgrades. And then there's the price: Were you surprised as I was given its size, guest & crew capacity, accommodations quality and operational capability? Imagine: Departing Norfolk, she's only 2-3 days away from arriving Hamilton, Bermuda with 1/3 her fuel remaining. She can then depart for San Juan, PR or the Virgins with comfortable reserves. Magic Carpet!

      This is a lot of boat for the money for sure! What amazes me is that if money is no object, the boat needs nothing! She already has stabilizers, bow thruster, upgraded electronics, sports tender, even a jacuzzi!

    Hi Garnock Reviews, This time you come with a very well maintaint Hatteras 74 from 1992 and it looks great with a cozy coclpit to start with a good size salon with a open galley four cabine below all ensuite with a spaceious master in the back what you have a lot on Dutch build yachts but the brand Hatteras is a rare find with us and mostly the smaller kinds Thanks again a great show ⭐⭐⭐⭐

      Thanks Manuel. If I had the time and money, I could see myself in something like this. Very capable long term liveaboard. I agree about being somewhat rare in Europe. I don't remember ever seeing a Hatteras in the UK when I was growing up. They are fairly common in Florida though.

    Absolutely beautiful. What a boat. Someone is going to be very happy. And sorry to see the owners had to sell. It is obvious they tried everything to stay on the water, but we all get to an age when boating is a thing of the past. One of the sad parts of life.

    • @GarnockReviews

      If I'm honest, when I got asked to film a 30 year old Hatteras, I was expecting it to look very dated, basic, and even rough. I was not expecting something as stunning and appealing as this. I'd be proud to own this one, and sail into any port or marina along the way 🤠

    I’m watching you guys from sudden Alberta Canada and I’m very very proud to see you guys working hard as the tugboats. You guys are very frustrating with what you guys do there or what we do here up here in Canada to the great lakes canals and docs both the locks up to the Great Lakes. Pretty good job did that back in 1972 though

    She's lovely, those lifts are indeed unique, and clearly she's been well maintained--read all the upgrade stuff in the listing and it is most impressive indeed. My big question is this: How well insulated sound-wise is the engine room? With it right up against that guest cabin and the vestibule to the Master I just wonder about noise/vibration from that era's construction. Not that this would be a dealbreaker, but still curious.

    • @GarnockReviews
      @GarnockReviews  10 місяців тому

      Thanks DL. I did notice there is a lot of insulation in the engine room which should reduce both the noise and the heat from spreading to the cabins. I also noticed she has impressive looking engine mounts so that should help reduce vibrations too. I'm willing to bet in the right conditions, you could still sleep soundly in the cabins even with the boat cruising under way. 🤠

    A 1992 model. In spite of the age and how it looks. What percentage of the boat is used up and how much life is left.
    Smart money says. Keep a hundred thousand put away for the unexpected. Seems like the perfect boat for cruising
    Between Maine and Fla.

    • @GarnockReviews
      @GarnockReviews  8 місяців тому

      She would be perfect for winters in Florida, and summers up north. I'd recommend a good sea trial and survey, but my gut says there is a lot more life left in this one 😉

  • @jmsask
    @jmsask 10 місяців тому

    By my calculations this ship uses approximately 62.37 gph to get 1000 miles out of 4158 gallons of fuel. I assume that is at about 10 knots not 15 knots cruse speed. Would I be wrong to say at 15 knots the range would be approximately 500 - 600 miles?

    • @GarnockReviews
      @GarnockReviews  10 місяців тому

      I don't have the exact details on fuel consumption, but I believe you are in the right ballpark. If range and consumption is a concern, I'd recommend hooking up flow meters when doing the sea trial and get accurate readings that way.

    • @jmsask
      @jmsask 10 місяців тому

      @@GarnockReviews that’s $20790 at $5 per gallon to go approximately 600 miles. I would have to say this is not good in today’s world. I’m very interested in this yacht but it’s not practical in today’s world. With insurance and maintenance this is a $70-100k a year ship. Thank you for your time. I love this and the 70ft Hatteras yacht but practicality says it’s not for me.

    So many of the hatteras yachts from the 80 and 90s either have been butchered by rich people who think having money automatically gives you good taste or the ability to design but whoever ordered this one did have good taste or was smart enough to get out of the way of a real designer.

    • @GarnockReviews

    It sounds cheap until you consider the cost to bring it current and extreme upkeep. Budget $1MM, including the purchase, for Year 1 and 2 then $200K per year thereafter....plus fuel for major expeditions, if any. Too big for a GL voyage.

    So first thing that sticks out is the washer has water in it. That shouldn't happen which means the washer is broke and they aren't replacing it. Makes me wonder what else is wrong with this boat. Most likely lots.

    • @GarnockReviews
      @GarnockReviews  10 місяців тому +3

      As much as I tell everyone to always get a good survey, sea trial, and mechanical inspection, this is one boat I have high confidence in finding very few if any critical issues. So much time and money has gone into this one, with documentation to prove it.

    • @rickhodges1731
      @rickhodges1731 10 місяців тому +2

      It very likely they stopped the rince cycle of the washer at that point. That boat is in Bristol condition.

      Did you consider that the washing was paused for the video? Of course you didn't, you just assumed. Do you know what a survey is? When you decide to buy this, you will have a survey done to find out the condition of all of the systems on the boat, including the washing machine.
