I lived on Schermerhorn for 2 years. It's an amazing neighborhood. Brooklyn Bridge Park will always be my favorite park. Great video. Thanks for the stroll down memory lane.
Born and raised in Brooklyn in 1950. Lived in Park Slope, Red Hook, Bay Ridge, Bensonhurst. Moved out in 1982. Live 200 miles north. I miss Brooklyn but it’s not the same. Glad I left when I did. Time marches on. Was there when the two planes had collided over Brooklyn & Staten Island December 16, 1960. That was a freaking nightmare which I had for a couple of weeks after that crash. Good video. Nice to see it.
I was in 3rd grade when the planes collided. One crashed into Pillar of Fire Church (Park Slope, I think). Also saw (seen??) the ship collision and fire in 1973 in the Narrows. Burning ship drifted under the Bridge and scorched the bottom, no lie. Was also Brooklyn born in 1950 and moved upstate in late 1980's. Loved the 1970's in Bay Ridge.
Great video. Still weird to me seeing my homeland on youtube. I grew up on the corner of Joralemon and Sidney place and am now back in the neighborhood living on Clinton and Livingston. Saw my high school, multiple buildings that friends lived in and some old favorite food spots.
Delightful video! Unrelatedly, my go-to hotel bar "Misdemeanor" off of Atlantic and Smith is conveniently located across the street from the Brooklyn Detention Complex although not really sure if that's in the bounds of Brooklyn Heights.
Thank you! It looks like you're going to have to wait until a Boerum Hill video comes out, I'll make sure to mention Misdemeanor when it inevitably does.
I visited there for the first time 2 weeks ago (6 NOV 2023). LOVED it! I was there because I was checking out Moonstruck (Cher movie) filming locations and Bananarama (80s pop group) video locations for “Cruel Summer”. I decided to then just walk around. Gorgeous. ✌️
When my wife and me were dating in late 1970's she lived in Brooklyn Heights off Henry Street a short hop from Montague Street. Swell eateries then; Capulets on Montague, Simons Sandwich Shop, J. B. Callahan's, Circles Café, Aesop's Fables. Promenade views of lower Manhattan were boss. I lived in Bay Ridge then. Man-o-Manischewitz the Heights was an expensive place to live.
What a wonderful piece. So informative. Of all the videos I have seen, this is the best. Kudos. Only one suggestion … the vocal fry makes the narration hard to listen to. Changing that would make it more appealing.

It's amazing that you were there for that plane crash, that's a grim piece of history. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment on the video!
@@TheDCShow0 Yes, I remember that day like it was yesterday. I'm 71 now but can still see and hear all that happened that terrible day.

@@martyjewell5683 I hear ya…if you weren’t there, you really couldn’t understand what it was like during that time to live in Brooklyn. Thanks Marty…
@@johnlennon1049- Man-o-Manischewitz, the 1960's/70's were boss hanging out in Brooklyn. Screw the City.

Thanks for this wonderful film. May want to correct spelling of Middagh but not really consequential, the film was tons of fun to watch.
Ahhhh, yes I overlooked that detail. Glad you enjoyed!

We love Leo at the DC Show
Good job Leo and thank you!
Wow, the houses remind me a bit of Albany lol
Yea especially some of the houses from the 1840s and 50s, I totally agree!
