- The goal of this video is to make this beautiful glue gun technique with gold metallic glue easier for all levels of expertise. This is glue gun art for everyone! I don’t always feel comfortable and can be a bit of a klutz using sharp objects such as picture frame glass and razor blades, so this is just a little safer way to do the glue gun stained glass technique for people like me. lol
In this video I am doing variations on Tanya Mundt's stained glass glue gun technique that was debuted on @HeatherMaderArt 's channel recently. @TiffanyRemijn and I show you ways to make this technique a little simpler and safer and show you some modifications of our own.
I use some beautiful colourarte PrizmPour paints and some really beautiful mica flakes from colurarte as well. Other artists you should check out that do beautiful glue gun art:

Great take on the technique! It's Tanya btw :) i do mine on glass cause if I make a boo-boo I can easily cut it out and redo a section. Plus I first started doing it on glass with alcohol ink but used the glue as a resist. When I started doing pours I'm like hey, I can use that glue outline instead of throwing it out!
Tanya you are such an inspiration my dear! I love the seamless way you blend the beauty of the fluid pours with the beautiful line work of the scenes you create! I love working on the silicone mat because I can also redo sections if I mess up but I am not to good with the razor blades. lol Thank you again my friend! 🙏🏻💕
Very creative and beautiful ❣️
Very NICE work & good craft tips regarding the silicone mat & parchment paper !
This is really beautiful.
Hey my sweet friend I just watched this again because I thought it was such an awesome turnout. The mermaid was gorgeous and the embellishments of adding the underwater foliage and pearls just gave it the perfect final touch!! You are such a talent!! Loved watching you create this!! Absolutely beautiful!! ❤️❤️❤️
I am totally blown away by this fantastic piece of art!!! The addition of the pearls was just frosting on the cake!
Thank you so much Carole! You are too kind! 🙏🏻💕
Really cool Lance! Great alternative option! I also like the versality of being able to alter the glass method easily but this is a good way to go too!
Beautiful mermaid !!!
LOVE!
Gorgeous !❤
Loved the mermaid and movement in that composition! Bravo! 👏🏼
Thank you so much Tassy! You also are so inspiring to me! 🙏🏻💕

Wow I believe you nailed this. I’m like you not good with glass and a razor blade. I love Tanya’s technique so this will make it easier for me with my old arthritic hands. Beautiful work
Lechabotte, I’m so glad this gives you a safer easier alternative. I know I feel more at ease doing it this way! 🙏🏻💕

Awesome creation Lance! The whole process was very interesting to watch. Love the mermaid! ❤️
Thank you so much Janet my friend! 🙏🏻💕
I live in Florida and this would make great gift for my beach friends. Yours came out Beautiful!!
OMG Lance you created an awesome piece. Love it. I use glass to paint acrylics and oils on because they come off easy with a scraper or blade but the acrylic will come off easy with water but yours and Tiffany's idea is by far more practical. Beautiful work!! you are so talented
Thank you so much Pam my friend! 🙏🏻💕
Kool ❤❤❤
You're so talented Lance....beautiful piece 💙💙💙💙
Thank you so much Camile my friend! You are too kind to me! 🙏🏻💕
Very beautiful ❤
I love this idea ❤
I have a few favourite acrylic pour artists & watch them often, but this is the first time coming across one of your videos & I thoroughly enjoyed it, not too lengthy, but still very informative & a very pretty piece..You have a new subscriber Lance…I look forward to looking through your videos…
Can't wait to try this. I absolutely love this. You made this look so easy, so keep your fingers crossed for me.
Lovely 🎨🙌🏻. No problem with the English. Enjoy their sense of humour. I believe that those of us from colonial settler descent ( I am South African from 1820 settlers), have the love of English in our dna 😂
Wow that is fun and beautiful
OMG, MAGNIFICENT 💙

Thank you so much Joalla! 🙏🏻💕
Very pretty!!
Thank you! 🙏🏻💕
It’s gorgeous Lance❣️🤗
Thank you so much Saskia! 🙏🏻💕
I just came across this video and I must say that your work is lovely. And the material you used for the mermaid’s scales is stunning!
You mention AB Creative in the description box. She uses the swipe technique for beautiful silhouettes, and also uses the glue gun for several images. However, since she works directly on the canvas it shortcuts some of the steps you applied here.
Hey Helena,
Thank you so much! Yes I know AB does some hot glue directly on canvas. I do that as well on some pieces, however this was about the popular “Tanya Mundt” technique and is an alternative to using razor blades and glass.
:) :) :) I was just showing the way Tanya did her technique! Thanks for trying some other ways to explore the method! :)
Yeah I love seeing what Tanya does. I just need to handle less sharp objects because I can’t be trusted! lol 😂 ❤
Awesomeness
Thank you! 🙏🏻💕
Amazing 🤩!!!
Thank you Joanne! 🙏🏻💕
Lance that was awesome, but, the video got me dizzy!😮
Lol! Sorry for the fast my big in some portions. This was a lot of footage so speeding it up did make some part a little dizzying. lol I am keeping that in mind for future videos. 🙏🏻💕😉
The backround is nice.
Lance, this glass artist is giggling about your fears of cutting yourself (a friendly giggle of course) even my grandson had to wait until the age of 10 before joining me to learn the art of glass :) When I oil paint, I use a glass palette for the oils (can be frozen between sessions etc.) There are holders and special blades (that slide into them). I use these for cleaning the door on my woodstove and cleaning off the glass palette from old oil paint etc. These can be found in any hardware store. Try one and let me know what you think. Hope this little tip helps your "fears" 🤭🤣 of cut fingers. By-the-way, beautiful work. Also, try taping off the edges of the glass with painter's tape.
Hi Irish,
Well it’s not so much the edges of the glass that can be the cutting hazard, but the razor blades that are suggested to scrape with in the other suggested technique. Truly I’m just trying to show an easier way to do this technique because the glue jus easily peels off the silicone mat with no razor blades or scraping necessary. Really I was being more tongue and cheek about the cutting of myself but it is a danger as Heather Mader does cut herself in her video. lol 😉🙂
WOW this is amazing. I love this - you are so talented Lance and I just adore your style - awesome mermaid - I collect mermaids so this is very very special for me - I have a mermaid corner in my home so I must do this :). Hope you are well my friend :0)
Thank you so much Lori my friend! You are such an amazing artist and I glad to be able to call you my friend! 🙏🏻💕
Thank you! Such an eloquent solution! Bravo! I wonder, since you filled her with paint, could you use gel or matte medium as glue? It would permanently adhere paint to paint. This is so beautiful!
Hey Janille,
Thank you for your kind words. I use the spray adhesive because as long as I get a good seal initially everything stays put when I gloss with Liquitex high gloss.
🙏🏽
Love this ! I love ocean and mermaids!!! Was that gold glue sticks? Very cool 🥰💜👍
Thank you Penny! Yes I have links for the gold glue sticks in my description box! 🙏🏻💕
Beautiful work. Just wondering if the glue sticks work out more cost effective than using a tube of paint especially for stained glass work?
Absolutely love this I just bought my clear silicone mat off of Amazon you did this with paint to fill in could you also use mica colored resin then peel it off the mat ? This turned out beautiful 🤩
Gerri I think you might be able to with the silicone mat! Thank you my friend! 🙏🏻💕
How do you do the smear in the paint . But you made sure we could not see that why?
Hi Lance, I have a question about using skins. I have a few paintings that I already resined but didn't like how the resin turned out on some of it and not worth doing over. Can I still cut this out and use it for skins even though the resin is already on. I love this. Can't wait to try this out and bring my art to another level. Thanks for showing this easier way to do the Tanya Mundt art style.
Hey,
Well I think you probably could and that might turn out really interesting with the hot glue outlining those cut pieces. If you do it you could message me on Facebook and show me how it turns out. I can’t wait to see it!
😍🎉
ha ha ha yes 8:20 - yes I am a KLUTZ!!
I am a Klutz to! Can’t trust me with the sharp objects! lol 😜😍💕
what is the ratio of the paint/medium inside the mermaid? Thanks
Hello, dear one.
Would you please tell me how to turn my tubes of acrylic paint into pouring paint, and how to make my paint create cells, please?
I have Liquitex 4-oz tubes of paint and silicone additive.
Hey Lynder,
What type of pouring technique are you wanting to try? For a lot of different types of pouring techniques you would use American Floetrol and mix with your tube paints. That is one more simple or common form of pouring medium. You can also message me on Facebook if you have more questions or would like more help. m.facebook.com/1528320231/
If you use an Overhead Projection Plastic sheet, the glue simply peels off. Because it's clear, you can trace virtually any design, in part or as a whole, then transfer the design to another surface.
Thant is a great idea also Barbara! Sounds like it works a lot like the clear Silicone mat. I appreciate you my friend! 🙏🏻💕
I ordered some of those metallic gold glue sticks but they really are not metallic looking - more like an orange in my opinion. Had really hoped it would work.
not sure if u r still on here but..do u have tips on how to keep my glue going at a steady stream as u do?ibe been practicing for months and months with no luck and im using same gun..thx
Hey Roxanne,
I took a little break but I have an upcoming video where I do the glue gun stained glass technique and I show what I use to help keep my lines steady and no annoying strings of glue. My live will be on Monday the 22nd at 5:50pm EST.
ua-cam.com/video/6OlOVl9oJdU/v-deo.htmlsi=k5Rx1y03qqZOi4Cy
How do you keep the glue gun outlines so continuous and without clumps?
Hey Jessica,
It works well to work on the silicone mat because you can do them till you get it right. 😉
Silicone mat better for the environment. No parchment in landfill.
How do you get the glue colored gold?
I’m this video I had gold metallic glue sticks. You can put you glue stick shapes on parchment paper and paint them with gold metallic paint. I show how I do this in my recent video called Mixed Media Mermaid.
ua-cam.com/video/qNkvssTZ3ww/v-deo.html
How to color glue stick?
This is a great video, but all the movement of the camera makes it very hard to focus on what you are doing.
You have to be able to see thru it if you aren't a great artist
Not sure I understand why this was such a bran storm, the original artist did say you could do this on anything clear s that's kind of a no Brainer. I've also don't like the colored glue stick as much. I am glad you gave credit to the original artist because she was so kind to share her work and not sure anybody making a few tweaks should take credit of videos of it. That's my personal opinion.
Mi piacerebbe ascoltare i italiano la conversazione
Love the idea of using a silicone mat.. Beautiful end result. Shakey,, jerking of camera when showing how you did your painting was very distracting and went too fast. Just my opinion. ❤
Ur not at all explaining he things lkewhat al u have used just go on doing
I’m not sure what you are saying exactly. I explain what I am using in the video and I have things listed in the description box as well. 🙂
I wanted to see how you actually did the background for the mermaid, but you were shaking the camera so much and then you sped it up - it about gave me a migraine! I wanted to see how you make those swirls and pull the lines down, but I couldn’t look at it so maybe you have done that on other videos - I’ve never seen your channel before, so I’ll keep looking. 🫣
