Thank you so much
Do we deserve you?
No.
But do we need you?
Oh my God yes.
haha, well, I am happy to be here whatever the case :)
Very truuuuuue
@@marcobucci Thank you for being you!

I love how when he talks, it's not: "so like, when you wanna draw dis thing, like, you do a line like that, and then like, TRY to make it like dis" and instead has a planned and scripted breakdown of the lesson and not just improvising like most art UA-camrs do.
Most art youtubers aren't professional artists. Teaching is also a practiced skill that I feel like a lot of artists seem to ignore and think they can just teach as easily as they can draw.(Just look at the endless supply of incredibly bad unscripted but affordable gumroad videos even from professional artists)
Proko, moderdayjames and even some of sinix design videos all are scripted, high quality art lessons. You should check them out.
Also there's a lot of great art tips out there so....
"Intuitive" artists who try teaching that way deserve to be kicked
If you can't put your process into words you can still be a good artist but you shouldn't pretend to be a teacher
This is one of the reasons UA-camrs like Marco or Proko and a few others stand out. Knowing what you want to say in advance is critical to making an educational video that's exciting and engaging rather than boring you to death. Lot of people make videos with the best of intentions, wanting to help, but ending up spending 15 minutes to explain something that should take 15 seconds.
@D.A. Botos This is a comment being added in during the recording. he is not drawing and speaking at the same time. And you are very quick to criticize him.
Honestly you are one of the best art instructors out there. This content is rich with so many good pieces of information, theory, and practical tips. Thank you for taking the time to share with us your knowledge.
Well said, Christopher. Totally agree.

haha - decided to change up the subject a lil :)
1:50 was literally the smoothest transition in all of UA-cam
You need to watch @LinusTechTips then. Linus is the king of sponsor segues.
Yes.
Ok this is a gold mine of everything I need to practice for art
Bro your pfp reminds me of the gold ol days

I would call it a DIAMOND MINE💎💎This is hands down one of the best videos on the topic
@@reddragonphlyart9831 hi!
15:39 Proko is like an angel that fell from the sky and blessed us all around. That mad man made a series of the anatomy and structure of bones & muscles so good that it rivals the Breaking Bad universe and at the end you can't do anything but feel pain that Skelly isn't going to appear in future videos.
There are many good artists in this world, but very few good teachers. You are blessed with both. Thankyou for being an awesome teacher. Love from India
Thanks a lot :)
Marco makes a new tutorial? I give a like before even watching

These 3 videos taught me more about character design than anything I've seen before, it feels like a steal to watch it for free
Last June I opened this video to study character design. As you said that gesture, form and anatomy were important, I left character design classes aside and studied these items.
Now, after almost a year and a half of studying, I'm here again and everything you said in this video makes more sense than before.
Thank you so much for your inspiring and detailed lesson =)
How is it going ?
@@laylajameel1836 I spent 2022 studying anatomy. In 2023 I started some silhouette studies, values and perspective observation studies. I feel that my arts have more personality and life now, because thanks to the foundations, I have greater creative freedom and am not dependent on references. I started studying Blender this month (March 2024) to model and get help with more complex work.
I started my digital painting journey in 2020 and your channel was one I happened to watch. Now I am getting into character design and again I am here.
WHAAAT YES THIS IS A THING NOW IM HYPED
So... I just got into drawing after 12 years. Been playing around for a few weeks and I’ve been...happy, and but felt locked into what I was doing. I didn’t feel any progress. The simple practice of line of action is so much fun and has improved my sketches immensely. In fact the line of action sketches are better than anything I’ve done in the past. My attempts always lacked emotion and movement. Now, There are stories within one picture. Thank you so much for this homework.
oH mY GOSH for the first time i tried drawing with boxes to make things 3-d and EVERYTHING just came together like MAGIC!!! I knew i was missing SOMETHING but i never knew what!!!! THANK you!!!
This is so great! I missed you, man. And I'm sure Proko appreciates the shoutout. He's definitely improved my anatomy understanding and is an amazing resource.
You are just awesome. Not many people can make such engaging and insightful videos about art. It's clear you put a lot of thought into these.
I stopped drawing my own stuff years ago, my intuos pro is all dusty in her box. I have no idea why you was featured to me, but thanks god!!!
Honestly, this simple 18miuntes video have at least 10 hours worth of lessons that I had to spend at least 100 hours to find with good instructions in the web!!
If you're new to art, listen to this guy and do what he is teaching :D
*Man this is gold.* My fav works from Rembrandt to illustrators like John Buscema, Noel Sickles, are pencil / pen sketches. You can see the raw mastery, feeling. I prefer rough sketches over colorful, finished work. Please keep doing these drawing videos, loaded with insight / information.
I gave up on art when I was 10.
Thanks to lockdown and videos like these, I've realised how much of a mistake that was. Knowledge and practice will beat talent every time. 🙂
Thanks for letting me take back art.
Thank you dude! I’ve really been needing someone to go through and explain their process step by steplike this. It’s actually pretty unusual that someone does this, a lot of artist will speed paint at x1000 and talk about their process in a very abstract sense that feels more like a self-help guide for depression/anxiety but never really talk you through specific decisions they’re making and why.
This was really useful to me.
I was halfway through when I wrote that, I just have to reiterate THERE’S SO MUCH USEFUL INFORMATION HERE! where have you been all my life?
I love how you comment on your drawing process! I haven't yet watched anyone doing this so well and detailed as you do. Most of the time, main principles will be explained but the character-BUILDING, the process, will not be explained. Great video! :D
Absolutely loved this tutorial, Marco. Thanks a lot! Looking forward to the following parts.
I love everything about your channel, your voice, your humor, your content, your editing, and your art omg
Oh wow! I'm so glad I found this because I'm working toward becoming a concept artist and I definitely need some anatomy refreshers! I never got to take the Life Drawing class at my school due to religious purposes, but I'm doing every little thing I can to make up for it! I'm looking forward to the next installment! Consider me subscribed!
Thanks!
Amazing, this is just as good as the 10 minutes to better... Series, which is one of my favorite UA-cam video series ever.!
DUDE thank you SO much! You have opened my eyes to the general art style that I wanted, the S's and C's for sketches has helped me sooooo much!
Thank you! Especially for showing your process from Gesture through Form. So many art vids I see start right on Form, but god that's hard to do unless you already know how to do it. Going from gesture through boxing in the silhouette was exactly what I needed to see to figure out what I need to do!
I'm so excited for this, this is already amazingly helpful! I could honestly binge your videos for days
This has got to be the most useful video for character design I've ever seen. Thank you!
Evrything from Marco is gold! Thank you so much for this!
I've watched alot of UA-cam artists and tutorials, and your content is absolutely outstanding!!!! I very much appreciate it
the best of youtube that really help us with quality videos.., love you man, ty so much
Great video! Interesting how you started with the gesture. I’ve typically started with the sillohuette just to feel out the shape language and sillohuette, but I definitely have been working in a more cartoony style. Inner starting with the gesture is a great way to feel out the acting/ expression range of the character. I’ll be sure to try this approach on my next project!
One of the most informative character design videos I've ever seen, really good stuff.
to be honest you are the best art tutor on UA-cam
Wow Marco. You´re undoubtedly the best art teacher i´ve ever seen. Congratulations!
Dude!! Why? I just took everything that I learned from Art School and threw it out the window. I learned more in 18 minutes. Priceless! You are a Master Instructor!!! Thank You!
i love how i can watch these and learn something new right away that would normally take me ages to learn elsewhere
This video is unbelievably good, so much knowledge and workflow compressed into 18 minutes! Many thanks Marco!
It's soooo satisfying to watch Marco sketch. Thank you for these high-quality videos!
FANTASTIC workflow and insights.
I need to start doing gesture drawings ! This is a good practice thanks Marco , really enjoy your videos alot , these are so informative ❤
Really loved the tutorial, helped me understand a lot. Waiting for part 2 eagerly.
Mr. Bucci:
I have been watching your videos for a while, but kind of off and on.
I came across your skillshare class (asaro head) and I thought it was the absolute best class on that website.
I have watched that class like six times. And I often go back and study individual parts over and over again.
I am honestly shocked to discover that the person who taught that class is YOU, the painter guy on UA-cam.
You are an EXCELLENT teacher. It is delightful to discover that the two "great teachers" i stumbled across were actually the same person.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR WONDERFUL CONTENT. Thank you!
Thank you so much! You make difficult concepts easy to understand, and it's so much fun just to learn from you. Watching your videos make me excited to try new things. All the best!
Your lessons are always amazing. There are so many valuable information and i like the way you deliver it - clearly and get straight to the point. Thank you so much for provide us such awesome videos. I'm really really grateful !
Thanks, Marco. I'm really excited about this series!
This video is amazing! I started using some of the rough drafts in the beginning for inspiration and created my own art style! It is perfect because of this! Thanks so much!
C'mon, do you HAVE to be this good!? lol I love your teaching, been getting my mind blown by the content on your Skillshare recently (including the course on drawing the head you mentioned on this video)! thanks for sharing all this!
This is so amazing Marco! Already love this series!
I watch a LOT of drawing tutorials. This has to be one of the most in depth and informative ones I've ever seen! I cannot believe you're just giving this away for free?!
You teach anything...I'm sitting here excitedly practicing them!!
Мне безумно нравятся Ваши рисунки. За эти два месяца, которые я смотрю Вас и Кениана Лафферти, мой уровень рисования невероятно возрос. Спасибо Вам, Марко. Thanks!
Your videos are actual masterpieces. So amazing and informative. Thank you for all your invaluable help.
Ahh, artists. I have always been in awe of creative folks.
I've whatched many tutorials.. Nobody shares so many info as you do. Thanks a lot for your generosity!
Oh my god man, you deserve a Nobel prize for these tutorials. They're incredible, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge
This is so good. Your explanations of your process is excellent. Thank you!
Amazing video as always. You helped me progress my art so much since I started watching your videos. I feel like I am painting way more conciousely now, since I don't have to rely on intuition as much anymore.
Absolutely fantastic, as always! I always learn something new with your videos.
Super hyped for this!!
Wow, i had just been studying character design and gesture drawing for the last couple weeks and this video just put everything into one neat package! I really hope to take these practices to make some convincing video game characters, in the mean time in off to practice! Thanks a ton for your teaching
Exactly the stuff I need to know and learn. Thanks and looking forward to part. 2
finally i got something for which i was looking for many months. It is really help for me to understand the posture and drawing techniques

Hey Marco, long time clicker-of-your-videos - the brush you use for your gesture here at 00:53, what's the deal? I've seen a lot of people around artstation etc using what looks very similar, I can't really make out what is different about it. It looks almost like it's "doubled", or something. Thank you!
That's a great idea. Creators don't normally do things like that.
I'm on the app. If I try to join, it does it on the web and wants me to create a new account. Seems to not recognize that I already have one.
Figured out how to get in. :)
Your knowledge and teaching style never ceases to amaze me, great insight about character design ! 👍
So so great!! thank you so much for sharing this to the artistic comunity! you rock!
Brilliant commentary. Thank you so much for posting this!
This was extremely helpful. Thank you once again for a fantastic insight on learning top draw.
Nice tutorial and amazing process. Thanks for the info and keep the good work.
This is awesome! Thanks so much man, I’ve been looking for something like this.
Love this! Just found your channel. I subbed for this series. Thanks for the video!
