I say "almost" because this is not its stand. This is Migaloo#1's stand. Because of the lockdown, I couldn't get the materials needed but I could not resist to show it to you now.
So this video is only of the making of the orca, I will make one about the mechanism and the stand another time. Sorry for those of you that wanted to see mainly that part.

Mesmerizing to watch, great job. A baby orca along with the mother would be out of this world 🙂🙏👍👌 thanks for sharing
I really like it! I could imagine how a little child would be happy if would get this as a present!
Very good!!!
Beautiful detailed work,Sylvain.Thank you.
What beautiful piece of art! I'm in love with it!
Absolutely gorgeous. I’ve been wondering how these mechanical animals work for quite a while so it was great to see your process. I’ve also been obsessed with learning about orcas for the past while. Awesome video!
Thank you!
I like the cat.
Me too !!
This is amazing. You have celebrity potential.
This will be cool to make! I spent year scuba diving NW Washington having encounters with all types of wildlife include spending hours with 5 member pod of Orcas! Heart breaking cutting all that time efforts into blocks of pieces!
That must have been amazing
I'll tell you but forgive length. I was raised by WWII UDT (Underwater Demolition Teams), swimming before I could walk. New Scuba shop opens, I make friends with Kenny selling me all gear. Kenny finds out I teach school, tells owner. Owner hires me help him teach scuba. We take classes too San Juan Islands for open water check out dives. Class students all want to know what all wildlife under water. But I was there for scuba not oceanography. So kenny an I moved too ran Juan Island for my 3 month summer school. We took diving gear, 2- zodiac dive rubber rafts, air compressor, 2 motorcycles, hunting trailer too San Juan county Park. We filled turkey pot cooker full of Lin Cod, sea bass, abalone, scallops, etc. We needed someone to run zodiac while we made dives. Long dark hair bikini beauty says, nice boat, I see you need someone too run it? So we pounded on each other on tennis courts, took shower at Alice's then made dives. I answer door too assist director too labs. He intro us too director. We fix a problem director is having, making him say, we got too keep there boys around for awhile. We started diving for marine lab director, we start measuring octopus, etc... Smell from our seafood cooker brings other divers into our camp. We take then too see George, 14ft 6in octopus! They are superior lake wreck divers but George has them doing emergency accent! Take us too shore... I take everyone back to camp but I don't stay in camp, I motor up Hiro straight next too Stuart & Vancouver Island in my 16ft rubber raft. I hear a sound an see 1 black back an huge fin coming right at me! (Wanting to know what this raft was in his world?) He comes right at me broad side, huge back an fin coming closer. I tie down my dive bag an gear. I he flips me over I want to save as much as I can. He just keeps coming until he's inches right infront of me. I can't help myself I scratch his back as hard as I can with huge arm movements until he slips under my boat. Then I swing around at take 35mm picture of his fin an back coming up from my raft. He power braked , bending tail down an around under him (I never seen before), he stops, balances his head out of water by his 2 pectoral fins, turns in water until he's looking right at me! He nods his head at me 4 times. I'm shocked! I ask him if he want me too get into water with him. (I'm moving my arms to point too him an me then water?) This time he smacks water with whole upper body. (As in yes, you fool!) I find myself sliding into water an up too him. May I? You are way smoother than I thought you'd be! Then I get hit in my back. I turn to see orca hitting me in my back for attention. I turn for him an encircle her nose with my arms. But I'm still talking too him. Is this your mate? You must be happiest guy on planet? Look how beautiful she is? She put her nose under water an sonars, with me still holding her. Her sonar goes right through me!!! Up from depth comes 3 more! Now I'm surrounded by 5! You have too be so proud, look at your family! Sis next too dad, then bro, then uncle an back too mom. They waited their turn for my attentions. Until my hands got so cold I had too get out.. The encounter changed my life! I called my school principal too quit. Moved too Islands, diving, meeting John Wayne an many others!
@@timbarnett3898 oh wow !! thanks for this epic story :)
Another masterpiece I've only seen 2 other wood craftsmen do what you do and thats a guy who makes walking sticks most of them snakes, and a guy who carves wooden cars, suv's, and trucks....
This might be the loveliest figurine I've seen❤
It's amazing how you get it to twist as well as roll
Very creative using a torch for the coloring! I was wondering why you had the spots outlined and sticking out & off the body of it.. very nicely done sir! ...now just make it squirt water out of its blow hole as well as sing whale songs lol!
Wow! Glorious! Thank you for sharing - should have a billion views! 👍❤️
You do amazing work, thanks for sharing
You are a truly gifted artist! 💜
Une merveille, je vous félicite.
What...no Sea World trainer in his jaws? I couldn't help it. It is lovely
This is so cool. I wonder what kind of wood is being used in this project?
Mainly basswood

Good job ! it is great ! Can you share that template you've used on 00:27 please ?
Sorry I only see your comment now. I don't share my designs, sorry again.
Beautiful

Merci. L'orque et les vagues sont en tilleul, le cadre en noyer
merci@@SylGAUTIER
Excelente creación, me gustó el movimiento tan natural, espero si nos lo puedas explicar más delante, gracias
Beautiful! I'd love it, but know I couldn't possibly afford it 😔 you are a genius!
cutest thing ever
I watch the entire video to see an Automaton and then you animate it. Is anyone else seeing the irony? Bizarre choice. They are opposite things.
It is not really animated, I just turned the crank a step and took a picture each time. Have a look at my video where I make a white whale to see the "real" result of my automaton.
Amazing!!! ❤❤❤
I'm in love with your work...❤
Thanks a lot :)
wow, love your work, such a great inspiration!
Thank you :)
Wonderful! I am stuck on your videos 😍😍😍
May I know what type of wires you used? I can't seem to find anything as springy yet rigid enough to hold the wooden piece up. Thanks in advance!
I use piano wire
Love the motion!
Très joli
So beautiful!
¿Como se hace para no cortarse con la maquina?Es segura si se usa bien o hay fallos?
A bandsaw is pretty safe but like all tools there are some safety things that you need to know before using it.
Hello, that is so beautiful. Can I buy one?
Hi, this guy is not for sale yet. Follow me on Instagram to know when it will be. @syl.gautier
Cheers
"Hello, teacher. May I ask where I can buy the metal part in the video?
It's the metal part that connects the wooden whale blocks in the middle."🥺
How many hours did you finish that? I saw your post on Reddit.
It takes around 35 to 40 hours I would say.
Nice, but that super glue at the hinges will not last long.
I am interested to know why you think that. Could you send me a DM on my Instagram: syl.gautier
Or just answer here if you don't have it.
Thanks
@@SylGAUTIER , my 30 years experience in using an array of glues and epoxies. Also, my study in to what our forefathers used to connect joints. Way too many users put too much trust in to CA glues.
@@robertcornelius3514 So you think over time the hinge will just pop out of the wood ? According to your experience, how long could it last ?
Could you give me an example of something similar that happened to you ?
Would you have a recommendation to do it differently ?
@@SylGAUTIER , not necessarily pop out, but it will loosen. CA has no "shock" qualities. I learned years ago that each wood has a shock rating. Hard maple being at the top of the chart. I wish there was a shock rating for glues. Tip: try to do more backroom testing than searching for everything on the internet. Good luck
cool
I love it
Superb
Lindo 🤩 e da muito trabalho 😱
Hi Sylvain.... what are you using when you drill 3 holes on into the orca to accept the rods? We spoke before, I use framing nails double headed cut down. They have always been a little awkward on the projects I do. Your whale is smaller then the things i do, so was wondering what you use ? THANKS !
Hello, To drill the hole I use a dremel and a 2mm bit then I use 2.5mm screws.
@@MrEmozhimo ... thanks for info.. I have been using kind of a double headed nail ground down . It keeps my wires from rubbing against the wood... problem is ... the two heads are to far apart and I get a lot of sloppiness . They are a framing nail , so when you bang them in , there is a top head to use to pull it out
Big wow for your job!
Which wood did you used?
I used basswood for the orca and the waves and walnut for the base.
@@SylGAUTIER Thanks!
What is that flame pistol you used?
where can I get one of these?
There is one for sale on my website at the moment. www.sylgautier.art
MUY BUENO !!!!!
What does this have to do with Natsiłane the Tlingit man who Created the killerwhales?
I named him after this legend yes.
Hello there, how do you call the machine that you use to cut the wood? Please give me name and brand of this machine, thank you so so much ^^
Hi. The machine is a bandsaw. Mine is a record power
@@SylGAUTIER Thank you so much ^^ hope to see more video from your channel
I love it ❤❤❤❤💕💕💕💕💖💖💖💖
ı will try to do :)
Is there any templates for this work.
How.
WOWWWWWWW
where can i find the templates?
Nowhere, sorry...
I wanna watch it eat a mechanical shark’s liver.
Okay....
What type of hinges are those?
Hello, these are piano hinges
Can i get blueprints for orca please?
Sorry I only see your comment now. I don't share my designs, sorry again.
