Lance and Janice is the soap opera that Dr. Nefarious broadcasts whenever he malfunctions. It it also referenced in various other occasions throughout the Ratchet and Clank series. All the appearances of the show are pretty funny, so I decided to put them all into one video. Unfortunately, I had to include clips from All 4 One, but I decided it would be best to have a complete collection.

Unless I'm mistaken, the best part about all of this is that Nefarious probably doesn't even know this happens.
Well if he did he probably would have fixed it, and we can't have that now can we?
Apparently, he’s aware of the soap opera. In the latest game, he got his “problem” fixed, and one of his goals is to go dimension hopping in order to find lost episodes.

@@Nameless-ln5mr man, i really missed hte running gag (and lawrence)... Dr. Nefarious felt... lesser. Then again, I also think that rift Apart as a whole was... fine, but not the "OMG! BESTEST!!!" it was at times talked about as. Too short to juggle 4 main characters in different combinations in a really satisfying way, wasting the alternate dimension by not having any of hte old villains hsow up, maybe as Nefarious' lieutenants. Especialyl COurtney Gears... And some other sutff.

I like to think that Laurence leaves Nefarious in a glitched state for hours on the weekend to listen to his shows before he decides to snap Nefarious out of it. It's a lot harder to notice the time of day in space.
He most likely did that when they were stuck on that asteroid

You can just tell Armin Shimerman is having a _blast_ voicing Nefarious. The short-circuiting running gag is just the cherry on top.
Wow. Didn't even know it was him voicing Nefarious. Wonder if it gets weird having to voice a character shouting the name of another one of your characters.

@@holitinne Its a space-age tele-novela. However it happened, it was obviously exaggerated, convoluted, and deliberately over-complicated for views rather than relevancy and realism.
Otherwise, it was probably the first live-action fanfic.

I genuinely want to know how Lance became a flesh-eating zombie, why is the plot of a running gag so enticing?
Probably the flesh-eating zombie part, the revelation that Janice is really a man who thinks he's a woman, or the part where it's revealed they're actually siblings.

I know this is from a year ago, but their Cousin's Uncle's Son doesn't necessarily have to be Janice's brother. It's hard to explain, it makes you think way too hard about how exactly it works, but her Cousin might have an Uncle that married into the family, and shares no blood with Janice, and gave birth to Lance, with someone else from previous relationship that's not blood related to Janice.
Aka Lance could be Janice's Cousin's Cousin. Still kinda weird, because they're still technically family but they might not be blood related. Yes your Cousin's Uncle's Son might be your brother, but that isn't the only possible meaning of that phrasing.

@@CommentingCommenter I think thats the point with the emperor though, he doesnt joke around, he has almost a limitless supply of resources and high quality troopers and has an advanced body that doesnt use radio signals, unlike the doctor whos troopers are kitbashed or hired and body is much less advanced, using radio signals to transmit what he wants to say and where he wants to move. (It also explains why the TV show interrupts him only when he's mad as the tv show seems to have a very weak signal and him jumping around in anger seems to connect it to the frequency)

Headcannon: Dr nefarious is a fan of Lance and Janice, and the satellite in his head is constantly receiving signals from a holovision channel that plays Lance and Janice non-stop. When significantly agitated, Dr nefarious seizes up, and the broadcasts he is receiving are playes through his voice module.
Alternatively he could just have the entire soap opera series recorded in his head for whenever he wants to listen to it.

Well to those who don't know, it happened after Lawrence put his head back on his body after his first body was destroyed by Qwark. Lawrence didn't put his head back the right way and Nefarious got so mad his head which was built with a mini-satellite in it to pick up signals apparently short-circuited. So basically if Nefarious gets too angry, he literally blows a fuse in his head as in the circuits that makes up his head short circuits causing the satellite in his head to start playing Lance and Janice through basically a radio satellite. In Up Your Arsenal it was mainly just from him blowing a fuse from anger, but it seems in Crack in Time it got worse as it happened when he laughs maniacally and to where when he was "brought back to life" it happened just from screaming for his life.
Although it seemed like in Rift Apart that was almost gone now. Guess he learned to not blow a fuse during his absence.
So in short: when he gets mad he blows a fuse and literally starts broadcasting lance and Janias

Someone needs to draw and write a robot OC supervillain with the same personality of Dr. Nefarious that lives on Earth in which everytime it gets angry and yells, it blocks and it starts playing either a romantic scene between Catra and Adora from She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, Luz and Amity from The Owl House, Ash Graven and Evra from Final Space and Charlie and Vaggie from Hazbin Hotel (when the series comes out).
