It’s always such a relief to figure out a nagging issue like that where everything you try seems to do nothing. But it is a process of elimination sometimes. I’m dealing with an issue like that with my Harley. A fuel problem I’ve been attacking one component at a time. Congratulations on getting her back in the air!

    Sweet helicopter👍 and great flying.
    I did the first flight with my 470. At hard tail stops the tail wags noticably for a moment, but after that it is stable without wagging. I decreased tail gain from 45 to 41. Need to test it yet. What is your opinion?
    The other thing, is it normal that the tail has to get trimmed out? This never gets mentioned :) I'd think the gyro takes care of this. But I also have to trim out the tail on my 230s V2.
    And the last thing, where to set the expos. In the TX or in the Brain app?
    Update: 2nd flight
    1: I tested with 41 tail gain. In stunt 1 it wags like crazy.
    2: My fully charged lipo (Align 1450 6s) caused the ESC to go into LVC at the 3 min mark. All I did was flying around a bit in normal mode (60% throttle) and switched for a few seconds into stunt 1 and 2 to check for tail wag. Stunt 2, which is 85% gov'd throttle hardly gave any rpm increase. Am I assuming right that for the LiPo it's Game Over before it actually started? The belt tension is 2.5 turns each side. Cell voltage after flight is 3.87 V for cells no 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6. Cell no. 2 has 3.84 V. Yesterday the difference was even more: 0.06 V vs the other cells. I also don't like the high IR value for that cell. I got a very generic 4-button charger for checking, but good enough for hitting a barn from the inside. Been trying to condition the LiPo all Sunday. I see it coming: it's of no use, Game Over.
    3: The motor is hot, I guess around 60° Celsius / 140° Fahrenheit or more, the ESC possibly around 50° C/120° F or more. Normal? 85-90° F warm day today.

    • @westhobbiesrc8051

      So when you get a wag after a tail stop you always have to trim that out inside the FBL Undertail stop option not through tail gain in the radio. Never use any kind of trim on the radio! I always tell everybody to disable the trim on the radio. If you add 2-4 degrees of right pitch on the tail you should need zero trim for a solid straight tail. 140°F is not hot at all. Anything over 220 is when you should be concerned. 120°F for the ESC is nothing either shut them down at 200°. So that temp is perfectly okay!

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  2 роки тому

      You can do the expo in the radio or the brain app which ever you like!

      @@westhobbiesrc8051 Thank you for your answers.
      Tail stop: Is that the "D gain" (derivative gain) slider in the app?
      Tail wandering: After your post I redid the mechanical tail setup according to your setup video. The tail possibly had a tad too much right pitch, but couldn't judge precisely. I'll test it out.Tail trim is now back to zero.
      One thing I noticed is that the tail servo chatters, but not every time. I deactivated telemetry and everything is quiet now. Typically FrSky. If the antenna is next to a servo with telemetry on, that servo gets nervous. With a jittery tail servo one shouldn't be surprised if the tail wags I guess 😃

    Hi, I'm new to using ESC, can you help? My setup is fbl brain 2(heli gyro) and hobbywing 60a regulator. In step 2 "ESC/Radio throttle Calibration" says "ensure the corresponding throttle amounts to the maximum throttle endpoint and the minimum throttle endpoint on your transmitter are respectively 100% and 0%".
    In the process of setting up the gyroscope, it was necessary to increase the costs of all channels in the equipment in order to have 0% and 100% in the gyroscope menu, as a result, the costs of my radio are -127 and +127.
    How do I calibrate the end points of the throttle, through the gyroscope (brain 2), as far as I understand, it sends the throttle channel signal to esc. Or should I take a separate receiver, create a new model in the transmitter where the costs will be -100 +100?

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  2 роки тому +1

      You don’t have to run a separate RX, so while yes you need to make sure that the iKon/Brain sees a 100% travel in the menu which is going to be more in your radio to the hundred percent in the software. On the throttle channel you can leave it to 100% in your radio and you won’t have to do anything. If you have to do a throttle calibration or you want to do a throttle calibration you would leave your -127 and positive 127 and then follow the Hobby wing throttle calibration procedure. Which I would have to look but you can do it through the beeps of the ESC or they sell a program box that you can plug-in and put it into calibration mode and all it is doing is telling the ESC what is zero in what is 100. But if you don’t want to go through all of that you can put it back in your radio as 0 and 100 and it will work just fine Now if you are running governor mode then I would highly recommend calibrating the throttle percentage through the hobby wing ESC.

      @altis9030 2 роки тому +1

      @@westhobbiesrc8051 Thanks for the answer! If I understand correctly, you do not need to change anything, just do a throttle calibration

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  2 роки тому +1

      @@altis9030 yes that is correct! You always want to calibrate throttle just so your ESC knows what is 0% and what is 100% of your throttle range because every transmitter is different even if they are the same transmitter. So you’re throttle range for example could be 0 to 90% or 0 to 110% so when you calibrate that tells the ESC you have a full range of throttle.
