@@robertdavis7398 My response was for those who think (or want you to think) that without a NEW contract Aiyuk is somehow UNSIGNED. He's under contract for this season (and could be franchise tagged for next). Will he play without getting a new, big bucks contract? Who knows. I think he hurts himself immensely to take a year off and then expect a long term $30mil plus contract. So, I think he plays. But I also think they will work out a deal for him before the season starts.

It doesn't matter if the wide receiver is open, Brock will be running for his life because of a weak OL. Niners front office didn't really address the issue in the offseason. A late pick up for players that are not good enough to crack the starting rotation isn't good enough. I really believe that Kyle is insane. He keeps doing the same thing and expects different results, like the Niners are good enough to get to the SB but chokes in the end. Niners are only as good as the weak link, the Oline.
Aiyuk has the leverage, he will hold out until he gets what he wants or the 49ers trade him. He can't risk playing and getting hurt without a new contract.
He has some leverage but he is still under contract. 9ers have way more leverage than BA

The cap is going up. They can trade Deebo in the offseason and move off of Ward after this season. Their cap situation will be fine, even after signing Aiyuk & Brock. Trent will get more guaranteed money and lower his cap hit.
Haven't listened to the full vid yet, but while I think BA is probably being a diva about it, this still goes both ways. And at the same time, there's huge pressure on the niners but we won't see the result until the season concludes. If he's not signed, we wont know if the niners botched this until well into the season.
It’s not the average per year number that matters. It’s the “fully guaranteed” money. Aiyuk will likely get a little over $50 million fully guaranteed. St. Brown got $34 million fully guaranteed.
Have you thought about Connor Williams the Center from Miami as a potential pick up?
We already have Aiyuk for the next 3 years for around $66 with his year left and 2 franchise tags. If we assume negotiations start there, then guarantee 50 of that and add two more years for $35 and $40 million (both non-guaranteed) and that's 5 year, $141m. If he wants to average 30m per year then make those last two years 40 and 45. He probably would be re-negotiated or cut before seeing year 4 or 5 anyway.
Larry, you can get dressed for a game but nobody can force you to catch the ball. BA’s fifth year option is fully guaranteed but his performance is up to him. That’s his leverage.
Trading ayuik for 1 or especially 2 wrs doesn't make see to me. We already have a very deep wr room. If he goes, it should be for a run gap d tackle or olineman.

I just don’t see Purdy being offered a contract like Lawrence did. I love what he’s doing on this team but I’m not convinced any other team would offer him more than 25-30 million a year and that’s a short list of teams so I’m not concerned that the team will get blown up after we sign Purdy.

@leftymo I believe the 49er management agreed to let him become a free agent. They did not have to. The 5th year could have been enforced at the former price, the niners didn't want to pay that. He did not want to play for the lesser amount , so both agreed to part ways. IF the niners wanted him to stay, they would have had to pay the amount previously agreed upon.
@@mikerudd4943what are you talking about 5th year option? Armstead was on his second contract and we asked for a low-ball restructure due to his availability. He thought he was worth more so they released him and he found more in the open market.

10.5 sacks is nothing? He came off an 18.5 sack season and didn’t produce to that salary but still very effective at creating pressures. Offenses are getting rid of the ball quicker and it’s getting harder to have 15+ sack seasons. I think he will have a big year regardless, especially with Floyd on the other side.

The time to trade for Aiyuk was before the draft. If the Commanders liked him so much, they could have sent both their 2nd rounders for him. They didn’t. Aiyuk is not as highly regarded around the league as he is in the niners building. Best thing for Aiyuk is to take the offer not or play on the 5th yr option and play out free agency next year.
I was wondering about that. BA has an impressive unique skill set, but it's not the same thing that a lot of the big name receivers have. So I was wondering how he is appreciated around the league.
