I have a 16 year old Pro Preferred 11.5 moded trap web and a 12 year old Pro Preferred 11.75 I web. Both are gems. I love those things. Glad I cleaned, reconditioned and relaced them :) I can attest, they last for a lonnnggg time. If you want to review one of them, just ask man. Appreciate your content
What did you use to condition them?
I have a suspicion that the reason the 6 finger trap has the ability lose the ball is from the 6th finger stretching slightly when stressed. This is why I like a modified trap. That strap where the 6th finger would normally be does not stretch the way a full finger does.
The tapered version is why this glove is popular. I bought one for my 9 year old who plays a lot, and it’s pretty much perfect
I personally use a Rawlings BreakOut which I find very similar to the Gold Glove Elite and the R9 and works very well for me
A proper youth glove comparison (9U-12U) would be great! I've been a huge Mizuno fan but they have gone super cheap on their baseball Prospect series - they are no longer real leather (synthetic now vs. pigskin) and the better, older models are hard to find. IMO, the Prospect used to be perfect for young ballplayers - super soft pigskin = virtually no break-in, adjustable strap to ensure a solid fit, PowerClose notch. Now that my son is outgrowing of his 11" Mizuno, I'm at a bit of a loss for what to get him next.

Really enjoy your videos. Have a 44 youth pro on the way, bought a hoh r2g contour fit for our 11yo in the meantime. Re: the r9, our 11yo went through one per season of the youth pro taper the last two years. He really liked it, break in easy, but the soft leather was floppy by the end of the year. A good value glove for sure.
Easton flagship is the best glove in the $130 price range. Would love to see a review on these gloves
I got 2 of these for $120 brand new. They have the I-Web and the ball doesn’t come out. Good for recreational baseball. Especially for what I paid couldn’t pass it up.

It’s all about shape and care for the R9 if you get it wet or overly used it becomes ruined. But if you keep it clean and dry it stays well

Would you ever consider reviewing the Shoeless Joe Pro Select series? In my experience they’re really high quality gloves but they really don’t get talked about as much as they should be.
It seems to me that so many travel teams are given a special deal through marucci-ours included. Most just buy the bats, but I was wondering how their discounted gloves compare to others. If the prices were equal, how does the capital glove compare to HOH/a2000? Cypress compare to GGE/a1000?

The R9 was my first real glove but now i have a heart of the hide.
My glove just came in today. I think you broke it in wrong. I broke mine in and have little gap at the top and no shift in ball when I swing it around.

Have you done a look at the heart of the hide r2g gloves?
I was in the market for a new glove to play catch with my nephew (I am mid 30s now so my gloves are 15+ years old that I used when I played). I didn’t wanna get a junk glove so was looking around. Since I’m lefty you can sometimes get good deals on gloves and I grabbed a Bryce Harper HOH R2G for $110. I figure nothing else will be about the best $110 that I could spend. But seen al out of people iffy on the r2g gloves. Wondered about your opinion on them as someone whose handled so many gloves. Thanks!
@@mikeg1544 I have enjoyed it so far. I’d recommend one. Longevity could be iffy but I grew up using pancakes for gloves so it will fit right in. 😂

Hey man, if you could only use one glove for slowpitch shortstop and second base for the rest of your life what would it be? Also, I’d like to see you revisit the spin control palm from Wilson except this time with a softball. One problem I have playing middle infield in slowpitch is the ball is spinning SO FAST!

keeps the fingers stiffer for longer, helps the fingers stay curled inwards more for a rounder shape, and looks swaggy
How do I break in a bigger pocket?
Like, for softball?
2 in the pinky to start, but you want the glove to close thumb to pinky for the biggest pocket possible
if you arent interested in finger shifting and have a preferred break in that isnt thumb to pinky, i suggest getting a weighted ball. if you are playing baseball, an 11” ordinary softball and a weighted baseball will give it a deep pocket. if you are playing softball, use a 12” weighted softball and just play a lot of catch with the 12” softball
I’d kick out the extra few dollars & get the gg elite but if imma do that I’d just shell out the 2 n cop a 44 pro..

regular stiffness is not bad at all, but the pro stiff will help keep the glove lasting longer. the pro stiff does take a long time to break in though in comparison

It took a surprising amount of time to break in a regular stiffness youth 44, I wouldn't go pro stiff unless you're in high school or above and willing to really work
