This channel is delightful! I'm a 76 yo native speaker and have found that I've learned many things that apply to other aspects of life. I don't know what took me so long to subscribe! Looking forward to seeing many more epsodes.
Thank you both! I just love your channel guys, you're really amazing!!! I'm from São Paulo In Brazil. Please don't stop your work here it is really helping people around the world, I'm sure. Thank you very very very much!!!
This channel is one the best things that have ever happened to me! I´m a native Spanish speaker learning English and this channel is amazing and pretty helpful for my learning process. Thnks Jay and Viky!!!! I love you both!! Always in my heart.
Several years of watching UA-cam videos helped me a lot. I was doing what I like and been improving my English at the same time. :) Currently I write down many useful and often less common words and phrases, like: upheaval, incongruity, gullible, benign, carpal tunnel, exempt from, now and then, coming in by the hundreds, etc. I find them everywhere: books, movies, articles, forums.
Yes, writing is a good method to learn new words but I found much easier way for me to do it. I watch cartoons (series) and movies in english. If it is a musical and I like it's songs then I add these songs to my playlist to listen them... relisten... rerelisten and so on :) I try to repeat every word I hear (or say 'zum-zum-zum' in case I hear no one quite explicitly yet xD ). So I simply have fun but english comes to me itself. It took about 2 or 3 months to be able to write this message with no google's help (before it I could barely say few linked words by myself). The main trick is to not try too hard and learn 3-5 words daily otherwise all new words will fade away soon. Like you said it raises a list of known words by hundreds every month. And it is not any random words but only most used in real conversation. Thank you for your advices and good stories!
Oh Nikolay, thank you so much for this. There are lots of good tips here that can help other English learners. And it's an inspiring story too, because you've clearly been successful. Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work. :-)
Vicki is so cute!! And Jay is charming! Love you guys! I'm an American, so I obviously don't watch your videos to learn English...but I can't help it...you two are so captivating!
I always learn new words using mnemonics. This technique helps me memorize 50-100 new English words in one hour. Sounds incredible, but it really works:)
Hi Vicky and Jay, I love all your videos. you mix learning with fun and that makes it all the more interesting. I have two questions.....what is the difference between amiable and amicable and also between complaisant and complacent? how to use them in a sentence?
Thanks for these questions Shreelata. Complaisant isn't a word we use very much. It means you're ready to accept what other people say and do what they want. For example, I'm not a very complaisant wife because I often disagree with Jay and do what I want instead of what he wants. Complacent is a more common word and we use it to describe someone who is too satisfied with themselves, so they resist change or don't do what's necessary. For example, we mustn't become too complacent about our success because we still have a lot of work to do. Maybe we can include amiable and amicable in a video.
Hi Men Thai van. We would love to have another English Show too. They are difficult to schedule because they take a long time to edit. WE just need to find a few more hours in the day....
Hi Cat's Conspiracy Theory. This Jay writing. I don't think that hat fit me very well, but it was fun making the video. So glad you found it interesting and helpful. Thanks for watching.
At the exams when I went to college I detested those teachers who listened to the students with one hundred eyes and it was impossible to use the cheat sheet. There were subjects which were not easy they were very difficult but we could easily learn them as they were interesting. But there were subjects which were lexical - with dates and data which ones were useless, -and we made a cheat sheet but when we changed our position the prof looked at us immediately and it was impossible to move our eyes. This came into my mind.
Same happens to me when I play games on mobile phone I spend a lot of time on game BTW amazing video, interesting story and helpful tips Loved it ❤️🙏🏻☺️
Jay is so incredibly cute wearing this hat *____* Thank you for these realy helpful advices and tips! I always have been afraid of the examinations at the end of each semester during my time at university. I also took notes for myself. Writing, writing, writing. And since I am the type who needs to be active, who needs to speak and listen to remember information, I always talked to myself xD When I went for a walk, when I have been in the gym, in front of the mirror. And I just talked about the topic I have to learn about with family and friends. ^_^ Being selective is something I have to learn... I am a helpless perfectionist and this always comes back and bites me. As you may have noticed based on the amount of my comments here.... I'm a very talkative person 😅🙈🙈
Thank you, but I usually don't revise my vocabulary. I just try to translate unknown words for me and then If I hear this words so often, I memorize them.
Sometimes I feel that I'm doing very small progress in learning English. Maybe, because I spend a lot of time studying and shortly reviewing. Thank you for the tips! I'll work on it.

We usually talk about sky with a definite article ' the sky' - the idea is there's just one. But we also use it in the plural sometimes. e.g. We'll see more dark skies now winter is coming. Mirrors are countable and so are seeds.

I don't know how to say "cheat sheet" without confusing the two words :(
Ah yes, it's tricky. Maybe we should make another video about that Daniel!
Hair, colors and paint are countable or uncountable noun?
Sky,mirror and seeds are uncountable or countable noun?
