Whether a trombone has a one or two-piece bell is determined by whether the flare of the bell is of a single piece with the throat of the bell. Both the Yamaha and the Conn have ferrules where the tuning slide meets the bell section. 88Hs used to have two-piece bells. One could see the seam where the flare started. Don't know about the Yamaha. One-piece bells are more expensive because they require more handwork.

First time seeing the Alamo Band channel - long time listener to Chris on the guitar side for many years, but I'm a long time trombone/euphonium player and only started learning guitar before the pandemic - the Yamaha sounded warmer (and preferable) to my ear.

You are not very well versed in the differences between these both very good trombones. The Yamaha is a heavier bell which gives a sound with less brightness and edge. The Conn has a lighter bell but the rose bell gives a more colorful sound and the ability to shape the sound. The F attachments add 6 positions- not 7. Conn horn more soloistic and versatile- better suited to play both classical and jazz - Yamaha best for symphonic work. The difference between traditional and open wrap is significant which is why all the modern high end trombones use open wrap as their normal offering. Pushing air through the bends of a traditional wrap restricts the air a lot causing a much stuffier sound on valved notes. Fortunately a very low percentage of a tenor trombonists notes are played with the valve engaged. 50 plus years of trombone playing- I have owned well over a hundred trombones from all eras. My 88H is from 1967. I have owned a dozen or more 88H's and a half dozen Yamahas as well as many more brands and models.
