The lyric is" They say ..." there is a theme in a lot of her songs about the malicious gossips/tabloid and nasty reputation people give others. This is from the same persona she used in Blank Space; it is also there to an extent in ...Ready for It? as well. This topic of being the subject of nasty talk shows up on all her records. You should take the time to watch the entire performance --- this is from the Netflix recording of the tour, the AT&T Stadium where the Dallas Cowboys play; the 51st performance on her tour in 2018.
Don't let people tell you not to have fun or enjoy what you do! In an interview back in 2015 (about Shake It Off, 1989 album) Taylor said the point of the song was to have more fun than the haters 👍
Your reaction almost met the energy of her performance, and that's saying a lot. If you liked this, you'll love her other Reputation tour videos...especially, Ready For It, Don't Blame Me, King of My Heart, and for something a little different, Dress. Enjoy!
Really love this rx, & this performance is 🔥. You are correct, compared to other contemporary female artists, she does not take off her clothes or show very much. Usually she is more covered, bit this certainly isn’t bad. I was never a Taylor fan until very recently, had never listened to her music before, she’s a lyricist. And she crosses genres from country, country pop, pop, pop with R&B, and folk, & alternative/indie pop. She may play this song and turn around and do something completely country or folk. I like the variety. If you like this style of Taylor, compared to the country or folk Taylor, you may like Ready for It, don’t Blame me. Or take it back a bit with We are Never Ever Getting Back Together (Rock Version- live 1989 tour). The only version.
"We are Never Ever Getting Back Together (Rock Version- live 1989 tour). The only version." That's the truth! I can only hope we get that as a vault tract on 1989 TV!

This was her reputation 'era' (also known as her bad bitch era as it was after she came back HARD from a year long break following kim/kanye drama).
