Brands need to stop getting rid of iconic products - I finally tried the original about 5 years ago and was blown away - mature, combination, acne prone, dry patches and it evened everything out and looked like skin.
@@JanaSiratranont same here. Used C1 which was a light yellow toned shade. It is soooo hard to find a proper yellow foundation in europe. New c1 is too dark and too warm for me.
I agree, but I also think just because the new side does seem a bit more radiant, that tends to look like less coverage. Either way, still love them both!
I have very textured skin and original F&B is the perfect balance between a natural finish and some coverage. The new one just highlights every pock and pore...I look like a shiny pale orange (the fruit - not the colour) 😖 Off to stock up on the old formula!
I really enjoyed this review! So well thought out. I also really appreciate that you do a light application, and then don't cover the foundation with five other products. It's so hard to judge a product when the reviewer covers it with highlighter, bronzer, blush, concealer, powder, and spray. This was a really nice review and I appreciated the natural look!

I truly prefer the “old” one best, as the radiant version looks too shiny or slick, almost as if it would have a tacky feel to it, which I’m not keen on. I’m 47 and like a light to medium coverage, but love my skin to look like skin. So I think I’ll actually give the “old” version a try and skip the radiant one as that’s not a look I like on myself.
I have both formulas, in N1. I tried a side by side comparison, after I saw this video, and was surprised that I liked the New Radiant formula better on me. It didn’t look as shiny as yours, looked more natural. But I’m 65 with dry skin. The N1 was slightly darker in the new version.

I was reassured (here in South Africa) by Mac that the formula has absolutely not changed. I compared the old and new ingredients side by side and they are identical. Except that Trimethyloxicilate is now 13 on the list where as it used to be 22. That is the ingredient that gives the foundation it's staying power. I have not seen an increase in the staying power with the new version however, so to me, the old and new versions are exactly the same.
I think that’s sort of true, but at the same time, we know the formula has indeed changed since like you said Trimethyloxicilate has moved. Like, they can’t really say it hasn’t changed, when it clearly has. Also, why re-brand it if it is staying the exact same? There is clearly a more radiant finish (which doesn’t stay all day). I haven’t seen an increase in staying power either. I think it’s a great change, as I think being more inclusive in shade is always a good thing👏🏼thanks for watching!
Thanks for doing a side by side comparison. They are going to discontinue/phase out the old face and body. I checked with a Mac Cosmetics online consultant and he confirmed that the old face and body will be phased out. Hence on Mac’s website the smaller bottle just has 2 shades and only few for the bigger bottle of the old face and body.
I decided to give in and give the new face and body Foundation a try. I just placed my order now. I have learned I am now going to be wearing a different shade so this is exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time

I just wish that the shade that I need was offered in the original formula. I will mixing foundations to achieve the colour and finish that I desire. Plus I find that the new formula is not hydrating. I just really wish that they had added more colours to the original face and body Foundation

Yeah, I don’t recommend it for dry skin. Honestly, I’ve seen lots of people really liking it, but I don’t think it’s that revolutionary. It’s similar to Mac F&B, but not as great. Really clings to dry patches

Just last saturday the mac consultant reassured me that the new fand body is the same formula. I ordered the big bottle online today of c0 so i hope that it is the same formula and if not atleast hope ill still love it.
I still love it but the formulas have changed if you review the ingredient list. Only very very slightly, but a change nonetheless. I think if they hadn’t changed the name, many would never have noticed a difference 🤷🏻♀️
Ok. So I have watched your video a few times and feel like I finally mastered it and I do love. 2 questions. Would something like UD all nighter spray help longevity? And if you need to touch up for say a night out do you just apply more?
I think it looks a lot more dewy & radiant & am very disappointed that MAC would discontinue a cult classic like the original formula. Although you look beautiful in both, the new dewy formulation absolutely highlighted your texture (& you have practically none) & made your face look a little sweaty, particularly through the T-zone. I'm 51, so dousing my face in powder to cut down on the shine isn't a good option for my very dry skin. If the original is truly discontinued, I'll be using my Dior Backstage Face & Body, which has a beautiful satin finish & a light-medium coverage. I do think this looks very pretty on you, but I'm bummed that the first thing MAC does to push back into the market is add yet another radiant foundation in a virtual sea of dewy foundations. Does the new version have any shimmer? Can you tell where the glow is coming from? Or is it just a bit more moisturizing? I really don't like shimmer, no matter how fine. Usually glowly foundations have a very fine shimmer that you can see up close.
There’s no glow to it. Radiance is really the right word, as glow signifies something else. Honestly, it’s pretty much the same as the original, but maybe even a bit more sheer.

Ironically I bought this when MAC had the $10 off sale. I never liked it because I prefer a bit more coverage but love a natural finish. I’ve been using products from my dermatologist & now have better skin so I’m interested in trying Face & Body again especially since now it’s radiant & waterproof. That’s the one point you made no mention! What did you think about it being waterproof? I don’t feel like it is. I’ve worn the foundation all day today with only blush on top to see how it wears. It rubs off on tissues! Is there something I didn’t do or did wrong? Ugh! It’s all over the inside of my mask, ew! I look forward to seeing your opinion if you think it’s waterproof or not. Thank you
Hmmm are you rubbing it in with your hands to set it? That is the biggest mistake I see a lot of people doing. I have another video about common mistakes with face and body, so check that out. I think it’s as waterproof as a foundation can be if applied properly. It really doesn’t budge much, but of course it’s not 100% waterproof...I feel like that would be weird in reality.
I love the radiant side! But it does look like its covers better on the other side. Have you tried to put more on it? My mum will not like it to be more radiance I guess. I think it does cover the same, and you can build up pretty easily. I just go back in to spots where I need more coverage and it works fine 😀 there is definitely a formula change, no matter what they say, but it’s not a bad change. Thanks for watching!!

I agree that finish is why it is such a classic! It just looks like skin. Perfection👌🏼 I didn’t notice any difference and I got the same shade in the new one. I would see if you can exchange it online if it doesn’t work. Good luck!
The pandemic shouldve been enough to pull them back in!! Im a makeup addict and RN and I find the original F+B is the only foundation that stays under my mask!
Just found this channel after searching for the new formulation...ugh. I think the new one runs warmer than the old N3 on you. I have heard they are warmer/more orange which also upsets me.
I truly don't understand why they messed with such a perfect formulation. The addition of a more radiant formula would have been fine separately along with extra shades, but to completely get rid of the original formula makes absolutely no sense to me. It was legitimately a holy grail product for so many people. I can't find anything else quite like it. What annoys me the most is MAC keeps saying it isn't a reformulation, but it's clearly different.
I’m here to say the same thing! Why must they always do this crap?? 😫 Either discontinue or they Reformulate, it’s beyond annoying. Now it just makes me stop buying from them altogether. And they got rid of the back-to-MAC program too. I miss the good ol’ days… 😕
In my experience, the more glowy a foundation the more it shows texture, but that’s not always the case for everyone. That said, not sure the original formula is going to be around forever.
What undertone would you say N3 is. I have olive undertones. More of a cool olive but most cool shades are horrible on me and if the neutral is too peachy then that’s not good either. Thank you.
N3 does seem to be pretty neutral on me, and while I have a somewhat olive undertone, too warm doesn’t look great on me. If possible, can you go in and get swatched? The good thing though is I think with the coverage on this being more sheer/light, you do have a lot more wiggle room. Good luck!
No formula changes? So I used to use face and body a couple years ago and LOVED it. Then something about it was changed like a year or so ago and when I bought a new bottle it gave me a horrible itchy rash! So..if they haven’t changed it since then... 🥺 I won’t be able to use it 😭 I was so sad I literally have never found anything better than the original...I have no idea what ingredient they added that makes my face break out but..until they get rid of it I will have to move on
MAC is giving some conflicting info and some are saying there was no formula change, but the formula has changed. Not huge, but one ingredient moved in the list, but that can actually big in a complex formula. I would see if you can get into a store and get a sample. Besides buying it, that might be the only way. Good luck!

May I ask how different did both Fondation set under eyes? I have a lot of fine lines under the eyes and all foundations/concelears are making them more obvious. Hugs from Germany
Great question! I think it depends on how much you use. The new one feels a bit lighter, so I sometimes need more under my eye for more coverage, but I’ve found them both to do a great job of concealing without making my under eyes look terrible and wrinkly. Hugs back🤗
@@Sportdiva7 yes, they're different and they are Radiant now. Also, the undertones are different (I wear c7 in the old formula but in the new formula I'm matching to c6). If you can, try going to a local MAC boutique to get samples.
There is no difference in the formula. They have just changed the name and packaging a bit. This is confirmed by the brand itself on their Instagram page. So no matter if you have the old face & body OR the recent studio radiant, both will end up looking the same. ✌🏻

Mac’s statement is one thing, but the ingredient list order has changed, so regardless of what they say, the ingredient list has changed. It’s really not huge, but a change nevertheless
Honestly, it’s pretty much the only foundation I wear. I wear more skin tints, which have a larger shade range, and I have very different shades in the winter and summer in most tints. The only ones on my desk right now are the glossier skin tint in G8, Fenty Eaze Drops in 6, and wet n wild tinted hydrator in light medium.
I feel like the radiant side is TOO glowy. And I'm the type of girl who doesn't like matte, I love dewy finish but this one just looks way too oily. I prefer the old formula of MAC Face and Body foundation. I hope they don't ever discontinue the old version :(

There was not great communication from Mac when they launched this. I think they told their employees it was the same but just a new name, when it clearly isn’t. Very sad. They went with a trend vs sticking with a formula everyone loved
I really wish they would have just expanded the shade range without making it more glowy, and removing the fragrance would have been great too. I absolutely prefer the old one and it's discontinued now. They also discontinued the light concealer palette (not all shades just the light one, wtf?!?) I've been using so I have no makeup to wear now. My skin is super sensitive so I can't just use anything else. Such a disappointment from MAC. If anyone knows of another product like old face and body please let me know.
Agreed. This really seems like a dumb move in the end. I’m almost out of my original and very sad. So far the Dior Face and Body seems to be about as close to this as possible, but doesn’t set down quite like the OG Mac one 😢
@@aish0059 Totally agree on price! Especially since you need to use a lot to get the spf rating if you’re using as your only sunscreen. But it is a nice higher end alt to Mac f&b for when you’ll be outside all day (for the extra spf). (I also think the shade range could be expanded.)
I would have to say I like the original better, not a fan of the new look, looks too wet. I'm disappointed how it looks now and powder is something that I won't use.
I think there is a difference but the difference isn’t THAT big in my opinion. I have normal skin and it’s already hot in NC, so I do tend to get more “glowly” as the day goes on. I wouldn’t be too disappointed if I were you. Also hooray for larger shade range🙌🏼

I know-it’s frustrating that Mac is putting out the wrong info, and even in my side-by-side, I could tell a pretty big difference. I do like them both, but I think if I had to pick one it would be the original.

Hmmm are you rubbing it in with your hands to set it? That is the biggest mistake I see a lot of people doing. I have another video about common mistakes with face and body, so check that out. I think it’s as waterproof as a foundation can be if applied properly. It really doesn’t budge much, but of course it’s not 100% waterproof...I feel like that would be weird in reality.
I love the radiant side! But it does look like its covers better on the other side. Have you tried to put more on it? My mum will not like it to be more radiance I guess. But we have also Charlotte like you ;)

I think it does cover the same, and you can build up pretty easily. I just go back in to spots where I need more coverage and it works fine 😀 there is definitely a formula change, no matter what they say, but it’s not a bad change. Thanks for watching!!

thanks for your video. mac f&b is my hg!!! i love the pure skin-like finish so not sure how i feel about any extra radiance but i'm totally gonna give it a try. question: the mac SA told me that the new shades are all different from the old and tend to be a bit darker? did you find this at all? i can't go into the store bc we're in lockdown again where i live :(
I agree that finish is why it is such a classic! It just looks like skin. Perfection👌🏼 I didn’t notice any difference and I got the same shade in the new one. I would see if you can exchange it online if it doesn’t work. Good luck!

Just found this channel after searching for the new formulation...ugh. I think the new one runs warmer than the old N3 on you. I have heard they are warmer/more orange which also upsets me.

I truly don't understand why they messed with such a perfect formulation. The addition of a more radiant formula would have been fine separately along with extra shades, but to completely get rid of the original formula makes absolutely no sense to me. It was legitimately a holy grail product for so many people. I can't find anything else quite like it. What annoys me the most is MAC keeps saying it isn't a reformulation, but it's clearly different.
I’m here to say the same thing! Why must they always do this crap?? 😫 Either discontinue or they Reformulate, it’s beyond annoying. Now it just makes me stop buying from them altogether. And they got rid of the back-to-MAC program too. I miss the good ol’ days… 😕
So the original formula doesn't show as much texture?
In my experience, the more glowy a foundation the more it shows texture, but that’s not always the case for everyone. That said, not sure the original formula is going to be around forever.
What undertone would you say N3 is. I have olive undertones. More of a cool olive but most cool shades are horrible on me and if the neutral is too peachy then that’s not good either. Thank you.
N3 does seem to be pretty neutral on me, and while I have a somewhat olive undertone, too warm doesn’t look great on me. If possible, can you go in and get swatched? The good thing though is I think with the coverage on this being more sheer/light, you do have a lot more wiggle room. Good luck!
No formula changes? So I used to use face and body a couple years ago and LOVED it. Then something about it was changed like a year or so ago and when I bought a new bottle it gave me a horrible itchy rash! So..if they haven’t changed it since then... 🥺 I won’t be able to use it 😭 I was so sad I literally have never found anything better than the original...I have no idea what ingredient they added that makes my face break out but..until they get rid of it I will have to move on
MAC is giving some conflicting info and some are saying there was no formula change, but the formula has changed. Not huge, but one ingredient moved in the list, but that can actually big in a complex formula. I would see if you can get into a store and get a sample. Besides buying it, that might be the only way. Good luck!

My first impression was I got more coverage and it wears better (apparently there’s an ingredient that has moved up the list that functions to increase wear time). Yay!!! Glad you found me too! That’s odd, bc I definitely felt I got less coverage🤷🏻♀️ but not so so much less. I don’t have any Nudestix products, so sadly I can’t help. I can tell you I really love the vieve wands though. They do not budge and I’ve worn them out running and everything

Great question! I think it depends on how much you use. The new one feels a bit lighter, so I sometimes need more under my eye for more coverage, but I’ve found them both to do a great job of concealing without making my under eyes look terrible and wrinkly. Hugs back🤗

It’s not new just packaging, it’s a new formula. The new formula is for both the small and the large
@@Sportdiva7 yes, they're different and they are Radiant now. Also, the undertones are different (I wear c7 in the old formula but in the new formula I'm matching to c6). If you can, try going to a local MAC boutique to get samples.
The radiant side makes you look younger. It’s just more youthful looking, I think that side totally looks better. 💜
There is no difference in the formula. They have just changed the name and packaging a bit. This is confirmed by the brand itself on their Instagram page. So no matter if you have the old face & body OR the recent studio radiant, both will end up looking the same. ✌🏻

Mac’s statement is one thing, but the ingredient list order has changed, so regardless of what they say, the ingredient list has changed. It’s really not huge, but a change nevertheless

What shade do you wear in some other foundations? For reference.
Honestly, it’s pretty much the only foundation I wear. I wear more skin tints, which have a larger shade range, and I have very different shades in the winter and summer in most tints. The only ones on my desk right now are the glossier skin tint in G8, Fenty Eaze Drops in 6, and wet n wild tinted hydrator in light medium.
I am devastated because the old version is a staple in my kit and it's obvious that they may discontinue it😩The new version looks just wrong😔

I feel like the radiant side is TOO glowy. And I'm the type of girl who doesn't like matte, I love dewy finish but this one just looks way too oily. I prefer the old formula of MAC Face and Body foundation. I hope they don't ever discontinue the old version :(

There was not great communication from Mac when they launched this. I think they told their employees it was the same but just a new name, when it clearly isn’t. Very sad. They went with a trend vs sticking with a formula everyone loved

I really wish they would have just expanded the shade range without making it more glowy, and removing the fragrance would have been great too. I absolutely prefer the old one and it's discontinued now. They also discontinued the light concealer palette (not all shades just the light one, wtf?!?) I've been using so I have no makeup to wear now. My skin is super sensitive so I can't just use anything else. Such a disappointment from MAC. If anyone knows of another product like old face and body please let me know.
Agreed. This really seems like a dumb move in the end. I’m almost out of my original and very sad. So far the Dior Face and Body seems to be about as close to this as possible, but doesn’t set down quite like the OG Mac one 😢

@@aish0059 Totally agree on price! Especially since you need to use a lot to get the spf rating if you’re using as your only sunscreen. But it is a nice higher end alt to Mac f&b for when you’ll be outside all day (for the extra spf). (I also think the shade range could be expanded.)

I would have to say I like the original better, not a fan of the new look, looks too wet. I'm disappointed how it looks now and powder is something that I won't use.
I think there is a difference but the difference isn’t THAT big in my opinion. I have normal skin and it’s already hot in NC, so I do tend to get more “glowly” as the day goes on. I wouldn’t be too disappointed if I were you. Also hooray for larger shade range🙌🏼
