    One of my colleagues told me the other day that John Williams was a blatant plagiarist! You put it much more kindly!

      John Williams himself also is pretty honest about sections that are inspired by (or sound a lot like) existing classical masterworks. For example, he refers to passages in Star Wars as "you know, the Planets [Holst]" section" etc. It was really a pleasure to see how humble he was about it.

      @@cl6998 "Jaws" motif is Dvorak New World Symphony 4th movement. Born Free is Star Wars Backwards. You can forgive someone for being a plagiarist because he is humble about it... Hmmmm, I don't know about that.
