You have the chance here to really make this a very special truck (no wing PLEEEAASE!) and it won't necessarily cost a lot of money. Hope this helps a bit:
    * The chassis and running gear just don't break and the DS14 V8 is bullet proof if maintained so watch your oils and fluids.
    * These engines have two filter systems: Centrifuge which needs unbolting, the sludge digging out and cleaning and screwing back in place and a familiar screw on canister.
*There is an air moisture trap canister behind the LH steps.
    * Gearbox has a filter on the LH side.
    * Rear axles have a filter on the diff casing.
    * You spotted the air cleaner housing but you can get to it without tilting the cab. But thats the easier way.
All these are part of what is called the 'L' service and I would do these just to be safe as you don't know the history. Scania do a pack with all the service parts and I am sure Scania here in the UK can ship a pack out.
    * The front wings unclip and we used to get them off when doing major services as it makes space to work in
    * Rear wings all just unclip with rubber cleats.
    * Brakes are discs all round and easy peasy to service.
As you say it just needs some old fashioned maintenance and tidying up. The small bore air lines really do need to be cable tied in bundles to stop chaffing. On the RH drive trucks we had issues with the wiring loom that went down past the steering column under the floor but have no idea about LH drive trucks. They would go brittle and let water in and corrode the wires. Lost range change? Check that wiring.
    * There is no red / yellow push button parking brake or trailer air release as in US trucks as the parking brake is the small black lever to the right of the steering wheel ahead of the gear lever. Just pull it back until it clicks and holds.
    * The larger black lever by the Tachograph (which is a speedo and recorder) is the retarder (Jake Brake) and you won't need a footbrake if used properly with a loaded trailer. DO NOT use the retarder without a load on the rear axle as it has no skid protection and has a delay in coming off..
    * Don't bring the cab back down when the engine is running or it will push the gear lever into gear. Ask me how I found THAT out!
    * Air line Suzies to the trailer will have had automatic valves in the couplings in European spec. Not sure what will be on there for the US Palm Couplings. Maybe just old fashioned manual air valves are fitted?
FunFact: Scania injectors are made by Cummins in the USA ....
Retired ex Scania Master Technician. Scanias are as revered here in Europe as truckers in the USA revere K-whoppers or Peterbilts. And this one is very special.

My first truck as an OD was a Scania 110 pulling Norfolk Line trailers off Great Yarmouth. Replaced that with a 140 which was great fun but far too juicy so got a 111.
Nicest one I owned (many years later) was a 113 Topline with the tag axle that dropped because the hydraulics were crap!
Scanias were great trucks to work on as a Technician and you could see why they were so good.

You prob should use the parking brake instead of parking in in gear. also make sure you in high range when you park in case you loose your air. makes it way easy to start then. The fuse you should not tamper with since it also disables the gear range lock so you will be able to go form high to low range at high speeds and that will destroy your gearbox. There should be a scania dealer in New York that can help you out with parts for your truck.

According to the comment of @cjvanderhorst this seems confirmed. (It also says Vermolen Amusement on the truck)
@20:43 Interpolis is a Dutch insurance company
@20:59 The Dutch license plate that was on this truck previously (NL stand for the country code which is NetherLands)
@22:21 Uitzonderlijk Vervoer (Dutch for exceptional transport) this tag would be put on a load that exceeds regular dimensions, while in transport the truck would often be escorted by a couple of vans for safety. You would also have a tag for heavy transport.

Fitting the right length of pipe to it can make it sound better. I drove a 164L 480 V8. 15.6 Liter or 951 cubic inch with 480 HP base but it was tuned to 660 HP. They are limited to 55 mp/h. NL is Nethrland and the signs are for oversized transport. The Seat are the Comfort option. And the bed config is called "Crows Nest" by some drivers. Are the windows thick like armored glas? If they are the truck has the tough winter spec with better insulation. you can adjust the steeringwheel with the black handle on the left side of it.

@rosscopeeco69 not really , there's no need for it here in North America. Everything is standardised so its unlikely that a trailer will ever be dropped to high. And if I remember correctly, it was cummins that developed the fuel delivery system for scania, so there's some north American technology right there. You have to remember that America has the most powerful Military in the world backed up by the military industrial complex, they are at the cutting edge of technology so anything Europe gets is usually under licence or its trickled down. Example GPS is a us invention, now widely used in Europe.
I once owned a 164, now I own a 43 year old Pete and ill never ever consider a euro trash lorry ever again for as long as I'm in the transport business. And if I ever want to , I could easily drop a a cat 3408 in u der my cab because yes that's right, America also invented the V8 engine long before scania ever did.
Ww have sliding axles for axle weight distribution, we have 700bhp and we have trucks designed for 80mph and above. We also have the terrain of north America which consists of big mountain climbs and long pulls, powerful cross winds and because of the extreme temperature changes most road surfaces have to be concrete or very hard asphalt, this is not a great surface for rolling resistance. Europe on the other hand has a very mild terrain in comparison to the US and can afford to have much smoother tarmac.

And the Americans that test drove the Scania absolutely loved it and wanted to buy one right away. The problem whit it was that the Americans wanted to spec it like the do in the US, with CAT engine, fuller transmission, Eaton axels, and so on, and so on.
When the Scania salesman told them that a Scania is a complete package with engine transmission and axels all made by Scania, nobody wanted it!

There should be that Holset but I wonder if it got 460 engine with Switcher turbo because it doesn't howl like Holset when he change gears.. It might have been chanced if it got lots of miles.
      460 engine was ds14.15 and 530 was ds14.13 if I remember right.

Nice truck! Once assembled at Scania in Zwolle the Netherlands, always surprises me how little Americans know about the rest of the world though.....

The longer you make the exhaust the better it sounds. Some guys have 20meters of pipe

I think I would figure out how to install something like a power steering pump to replace that hand pump you use to raise the cab. A small power steering pump that you could use a Dewalt cordless drill to turn. I like that big chrome brush guard up front. Might design something to cover up those wholes left in the front end from removing that pusher bar.

Just remember if it’s parts your needing it’s a long way from Sweden. You might be able to get some engine parts out of Mack Boring they currently import all of the Scania marine engines.

Yeah, there was no doubt in my mind she was straight piped. She sounded very sharp, there's nothing like the sound of a straight piped V8 Scania under load. It's as good as country music!

@@seamusburke9101 It did sound good. I was surprised someone took the time to put a straight pipe through the muffler then reinstall it again. It didnt look like it was straight piped since the muffler was still under it.
