I've heard it explained that those who called for His crucifixion were not among those chanting "Hosanna" at His entry. Those calling for His crucifixion were of the mob who were drawn up by the leaders who wanted Him killed. Jesus didn't only have 12 followers. He was followed by possibly thousands who believed in Him and that's why He was considered dangerous to the leaders.

I love that this started with Fr. Josiah saying there was enough grace in Holy Week to fill us for rest of the year. I was walking into church with a friend on the last Friday of lent and she commented on how Holy Week was like a spiritual recharge to get us through to the next Holy Week and I totally agreed with her. The year for me doesn’t really start till the Feast of the Resurrection.

Jesus didn’t have an axe to grind at all against Rome, because being God in the flesh he foresaw that Rome in the early 300s AD was going to recognize Christianity for the whole Empire. Yes, Jesus came to save every human but especially also to fulfill the Old Testament prophecies as to the Messiah, to give the Israelites ( the chosen people) another chance to live up to the promises and commands of God. In the 2000 years that passed, on balance Christianity arose from its origins in the Holy Land and spread magnificently into all of Europe, the New World (Americas) and to various degrees into Africa, Asia, Australia, the Philippines, and even Hindu India.
I have often pondered “what if” Islam, a made made cult, wasn’t invented in the 600s AD didn’t occur, then no doubt Christianity would be even more widespread and prevalent in the current Islamic nations. However, I fully trust in the Holy Trinity that Christianity will indeed ultimately prevail and take strong “grafting” in all the nations in this world. Islam is a House of Cards that is bound to fall as modern honest researchers and scholars are revealing to the world that this Arabian centric religion growing out of paganism and polytheists isn’t true. Make no mistake about it the Holy Trinity, our triune God, has a divine plan and is in total control of earth whether or not it is visible or understandable. Because Jesus came to change dramatically Jews and graft the gentiles, Jesus can easily also through mysteries to us Christians vanquish the grip other religions have upon their peoples and nations. Christianity was meant starting 2000 years ago to become the one and true salvation religion for all nations and peoples. This Holy Week offers hope and inspiration that indeed Christianity will prevail everywhere on earth as the magnificent and perfect divine plan, as mysterious it seems to be to us mortals, is in progress and fruition to the end times with the second coming. Hence, “Trust” in this divine plan.

Yes the Orthodox Church which is the true religion will prevail. It’s important to note the Orthodox Church because saying Christianity implies all of the other “bodies” which are a derivative of Rome in this millennium. Remember Rome detached itself from the body of Christ and all the others from Rome whom is mistaken. So in my opinion we should always state the Orthodox Church when talking about these matters so that we can bring all other Christian’s home to orthodoxy as a loving act. As there is only one baptism.

The Orthodox Church is praying for you also. Remember that whenever you decide to venture in to one.
With humility, remember we pray for the world at every service, so wherever you go, they are praying for you whether they know you or not.
(I didn't know that in my journey to the Church. I knew the friend who taught me/us was praying for us, but i didn't know the Church was. )
Such a prayer is part of our morning prayers.
Keep rethinking. That is a good sign.. not everyone will.
You will see that the Church can explain everything It does. Nothing is happen chance. And the answers are mostly theological. What i didn't have in my prtstnt upbringing.

When you read scripture, seek God. Things start to make sense. The only thing I can see about the ppl who decided to crucify him is that they either did it out of fear, ignorance or seeing the Pharisees as something to worship instead of the king himself. Truthfully, in today's society, we are reliving it in every aspect of media. Maybe there's an alternative brainwashing factor not mentioned as to why they wanted to crucify him. I will always seek his holiness when reading though.

In today's world that is not a hindrance. My Greek is limited but I have been attending Divine Liturgy for the last 4 years and been baptised since last year. I have a St. John christostom's D. L. BOOK one page is in Greek next page is English translation. I can read Greek but I don't understand everything, but with patience now I am following the service . God helps.

Father, I am a Jewish man who converted to the RC church 45 years ago. I do follow your channel. It seems to me that for the salvation of the world, Jesus had to be crucified, die and rise again. Therefore, since this had to occur, how can the persons who took part in that plan be guilty? Now I do understand that even though pre-ordained the people still had free will, but it has always been confusing to me. Thank you.

I recommend reading Romans 6. What they did was sin; but nonetheless, grace came from these sinful acts - but St Paul then says, what then, shall we sin more? God forbid!
Thus, those who contributed to the death of Christ were guilty of such an act because of their free will to do it. God Himself knew of this free will and used it for the potential salvation even of those who said “let His blood be upon us and on our children”, if they would choose to turn from their ways and follow Him.

consequentialism is wrong. But as regards the epistemological problem: imagine you’re looking at me as I’m typing this (which you aren’t but for sake of argument), you know what I’m doing but I’m still freely doing it. And since God isn’t limited in time He sees everything at the same time, so He saw what would happen “before” it happened
