    Great video Mark! With plenty of good advice. Some railfans make it harder for the ones that respect the railroads property and don't scare the crews. And a UP train with 3 EMD's cool!!

    Mark, your videos are always informative and helpful, but this one is the best! I've been lucky enough to visit your 'backyard' many times, but your inside perspective is really helpful. And one of the best parts of railfanning places like Tehachapi is meeting folks from all over the world! So thanks for helping me meet some really cool railfans I'd never run across otherwise.

    Fish and Game has chased me off of tunnel two, even though a railroad officer has encountered me there and let me stay. For some reason Fish and Game has taken an interest in railroad security.

      No, just this ranger. He's an a-hole who enjoys what little authority he has.

    Thanks Mark, a very timely video for our visit to Tehachapi in May. I will print out a map with the GPS spots marked out so I won't have rely on my written list which I will also make just in case. I am a belt and suspenders kind of guy. A very informative video and appreciate you recommendations as where to stay away from as well as the good spots. Keep up the good work and be safe.

    That looks great! Have been twice to the loop and the tracks around and it was a lot of fun to find good spots. However, I am sure, I’ve missed some. Many thanks from Germany.

    Great video, appreciate your no bullshit info and train coverage. The loop gets a little "busy" so your approach is great thank you

    How unusual to have only EMD power on that train through Cable on the headend.

    Also the salt dale spur is now fenced in with a barbed wire fence

    "Stay away from the tracks," is also highly recommended due to the possibility (rare) that something is dragging pr part of a load falls from a car. Expect the worst and realize that you may not be able to outrun what you think you can.

    As an engineer, the only people I want to see in an orange or yellow vest along the tracks are MofW and signal employees, or contractors out there working with a crew in conjunction with a Form B or work area that is listed in a Form C. Ive never looked at a vest and thought "Oh that must be a railfan so he's good." Its more like, "Ok, who the heck is this and did I miss something?"

    Mark very great and informative video on railfanning tehachapi! I am curious, and I think I asked this question before but, what happens when you go down towards the Chavez center near east Rowen! I have tried railfanning there twice in the past and have had guys chase me out of there! Is that area off limits to the public or anything???

    • @MarkClayMcGowan
      @MarkClayMcGowan  3 місяці тому

      East Rowen is west of Keene past the fire station. West Woodford is adjacent to the Chavez place, and they are pretty sketchy about people being down there.
