- ElkinsDIY.com Presents:
It's time to dismantle my recycled campaign sign shelter. In this video I explain how it was constructed and review the overall condition of the shelter after being in the elements for 5 years.
Elkins, you are a national treasure.
I cannot think of a better use for political/election signs. This demonstrates a useful purpose for them.
Thanks Bud.
The signs outlasted the candidates it seems.
All I can say is LEGEND.You inspire many Paul.
Thinking outside of the box while living in it - I love what you do!✌️
Thanks again Paul, for sharing your super ingenuity.
I hope where ever you are moving to you have a nice workshop.
It will take some work but there is potential in the new place.
Paul Elkins Look forward into more new building.
It held up amazingly well 5 years later it was still usable. Good luck in your new place Paul.
I loved Lucy's part at the end
The place hasn't been the same without her.
Thank you Paul! This is really helpful information, especially details such as how taping for waterproofing worked over an extended period of time. This teardown was every bit as helpful as the the build video, and I appreciate how you combined both in one presentation. Blessings for your move!
Another great video Paul! If you don't mind my asking, do you have any new designs you plan to build for once you get to your new place?
Also, what do you think about a larger, more permanent building made of corrugated plastic? Like say a tool-shed, or one of those "tiny houses" everyone loves.
Thanks for all the great content!
Again! You are awesome! Watched different videos and hope you will continue creating many things especially ideas for the homeless. Please! Never stop for those in need and low income. Blessings to you Sr. Paul!
Thanks for sharing your design and experiments, Paul.
Awaiting on your new project. Take care.
As always, I love your style Paul. I love your content.
Thanks Andrew. Just published our voyage together. That was fun :)
Very creative and inspiring 👍👍👍👍
Good to see the shelter held up well paul. I am hoping to get started on my mobile shelter when i go on holidays.
Have a great day

Love your work, thanx for sharing 🙌🏽
This is so cool, love your videos
Sad to see it go really was one of my favourites.
Awesome!
Hey Paul I was wondering if you could build a four person bike camper and post a video on how to do so please I need to build one for my family
thank u sir....
My favourite of yours
AWESOME!!!!!!
Always liked these videos! Followed you since you started and enjoy your builds and inventions! Staying in your same state or moving to another state? Just curious and hope you have a safe move. -Brian
WoodenCreationz well i don't have to ask or make any real statement because you said everything that i was about to say. ..which is rather scary. .
Thanks WoodenCreationz. Just 15 miles down the road. Moving to Camano island. The shop is smaller but better to walk my talk eh?
I wish you could have just given this to me
This got me thinking now that I am single and I own my property nobody to tell me no I can build some of your projects I think I'm going to focus on that. I want to build mine where I use no zip ties no screws only silicone adhesive.
coroplast can be painted with Krylon spray paint made for plastics.
I wish you the best of luck with your move.
Thanks Dino!
inspiring
Sad it didn't get refixed for a homeless person.. good video
You've made several small coroplast shelters, but have you ever thought about how big you could go with the same materials?
I have, just no room to store a large prototype.
3m spray glue aluminum foil to cardboard and then use aluminum tape on all the seams and edges
I always love your videos, your designs are so creative and practical. I'm wondering why the low quality video though? Most cellphone cameras can do HD these days, and it would be nice to really see the details of what you're filming clearly. I'm sure there is a reason you upload in 480p, but upping the resolution is just a small suggestion to make your already awesome videos even better. Thanks for sharing.
What are your opinion on silo houses? did you ever consider a larger coroplast or wooden house/shelter?
Really cool Paul you are like macgyver lol use what you have priceless
I'm attempting to develop a dome made of 15 collapsible triangles. Do you think coroplast would be a viable material to fill in the triangle frames?
Can you do a basics on how to assemble cordura?
???
Damn u shoulda rented that badboy out!!
If u want to read about a similar set of concepts check out

I'm from Denmark have followed you for a couple of years love your biker camper and plan to build a similar to what I want to build for next summer but can you make a bigger biker camper than the last one since I'm a very tall man and Do not think I can be in your model
The Normad Camper
I want one maybe 1 1/2 the size.how much
What's an alternative to using campaign sheets?
Purchase new sheets sold on Home Depot's online store under 'Fluted plastic'
I haven't laughed so hard in my life, this is some A grade comedy right here!
ВЫ Молодец!
Dear Paul. Ever since I stumble onto the doco from Kirsten Dirksen about you, I have been hooked watching all your "temporary obsessions." You have inspired me to make the back of my ute (Aussie for utility truck) which has 4 sq metres space a living area. One thing that I really want to figure out is waste management using plants. That idea lead me to this: www.urbangardensweb.com/2013/01/09/tricycle-house-and-garden/
Thought it might interest you! Keep on inspiring and being you! You have given me permission to follow my heart. Thank you very much.
Wo kann man so ein fahrradwohnwagen zu kaufen günstig
Would you be interested in selling or getting rid of the shelter?
can u plz build another bike camper
Soon Colten. I have a fold up insulated version, a futuristic version and 1/3rd scale retro version I'd like to build some day.
You should check out Harry Dwyer on UA-cam as well! He reminded me of you. He built a camper on two bicycles fit for two people to sleep and cook in (all out of old poster signs)!!! Check him out!
Or any shelters you have created?
If you live in the Seattle area and have a way to transport, give me a shout.
Paul Elkins unfortunately i do not live in the Seattle area :(
Would you sell or give away the burningham camper?
Sorry, but no.
Are You full time yet Paul??
Not yet. Still lip sticking my home getting it ready to sell. It's never ending!!
Don't destroy it I would love to have that
How many $20 sheets would it take to make this.....minus the green house part lol
Two for the roof, one for the floor, one for the sides and one for the facing wall. Another sheet for the add-ons.
six total.

Where are you moving to are you selling your home and going tiny
15 miles down the road to Camano Island. Only my shop is getting tinnier. The house is a split level, with potential of renting the downstairs.
Now I see how coroplast weathers.
Let's see....
You built this in 2012 and this video was done in 2017.
5 years. So, it might have been usable for 4 years.
Sound about right?
I just went through a divorce..both my parents died of COVID last year. It destroyed my family. My husband won the house, is ordered to pay support , owes 46,000$ in retro pay, is ordered to pay 1315 a month. He has made one payment in two years and only when they gave him a warrant. Finally after two years now. I have lost everything but my car and my daughter's belongings. I was able to get a storage so I don't lose her stuff ,but since divorce his family doesn't help with watching her anymore either. Which means now I have a 800$ daycare Bill , on top of being a single mom and on one salary now. We are good people with strong morales and faith and yet we are now homeless an sleeping in our cramped car with her hamster. I get airbnbs when I can but the downside is I can't save money to purchase another house. We are struggling. Please I can't build this myself and I have no one. Is there anything you can make for us and I can try to pay what I can ?
I'm not asking for a handout. I'm begging for help. I will make payments what I can when I can and you wouldn't have to give us anything until we were able to pay the full amount. Please. My daughter still believes in magic. Losing my parents , her dad , his family who was her family , nothing has effected her Because I am her rock and I have always been her protector and fun creator. Now Im watching her start to crumble from lack of stability . She wants a bath , she wants to read books in bed again before bedtime. Gosh this is so hard to even write. Just please. If you have it in your heart to care about a strangers life journey then I implore you to consider my plight not for myself but this little girl I love and cherish and just want to protect from the harshness of the world a little longer. If not , I understand completely. Thankyou for at least the inspiration in your videos that maybe on my own I will be able to find some solution I previously hadn't considered.
Hi Paul, curious why do haven't donated these homeless shelters to a homeless person instead of throwing them out / destroying them.
I was wondering about the same thing.
Again, it comes with my MR&D experience; you don't just make something and not test it out. I've learned a lot letting my structures of dissimilar materials sit out in the open and see how long they last. Fluted plastic is an interesting new material that I'm sure you've seen me play with. It only has a short life left to the extreme elements, but still cost effective in milder environments like here in the NW. I'm still playing with new fastening techniques and construction methods, and will continue showing what I come up with. Maybe some day I'll be satisfied with my end result.
although your reply to my short and simple question was informative yet off point. I completely understand why you have tested your homeless shelters over the years. My comment to this video pertained to the donation of your amazing homeless shelters now that your years of research has been complete (or you are moving and don't wish to continue your "research" by dragging all of the "homeless shelters" to your new home). from what I have witnessed over the years is you have built a number of them. this product may be new to you, it has been around for many many years, is it possible the manufacturer of these products has specs on the life span of extruded plastics? I digress.
lets jump back to my origional question/ comment I had just simply asked why your not donating the homeless shelter to a homeless person.
zackwildinc He answered your question in the video. He said he didn't donate it to the homeless because it was falling apart. I had the same question too.
zackwildinc behave
Hey man, the homeless don’t have land. Put wheels on it.
My friend's dad has more money than God. When my friend broke his leg, his dad set the leg using phone books because he didn't want to spend the money on hospital. IDK this video reminds me of that
