40years ago that happened everynight in my home. I shared foot bath with my grandma or mum or sister... in 1970's china was so poor, mostly we might bath once a months,but wash face and foot everyday.

My mother (my kids grandmother) is a brazen ball buster who makes it very hard for you to want to do anything loving and caring for her. It’s sad but there is a difference. DoeEyedFaun I feel you. My grandma was living with my parents for a few years and she was so mean! She practically tortured my mom with sneaky mental games and would tell lies about her to my dad (her perfect son, gag!). My mom couldn't take it anymore. She really tried her best to make my grandma comfortable in her house, but no matter what she did, my grandma was so horrible to her. It's really sad. She is in an assisted living home now since she can't walk anymore, but she still blames being there on my mom! Unless you've experienced something like that it's really hard to understand. But not all Granny's are sweet and peaceful in their old age!
@@sophievanderbilt1325 I am fortunate to have a good relationship with my grandfather but he is very difficult to work with sometimes. My mom has had to deal with the majority of this. He now lives in a very nice senior apartment complex and all of his meals and housekeeping are taken care of. He wouldn't listen to us about doing things that were dangerous and it was incredibly stressful. The only reason he lives where he does now is because he broke his hip. Having him somewhere safer than his house and with 24/7 help available has been the best decision for my mom. We visit frequently, at least once a week each and on different days. He has a lot of friends at the new apartment too and has been a lot happier and healthier. Since he moved my mom has been a lot happier too.
These two Ladies having a wonderful time and a wonderful life together and giving the message to humanity that there are better , easy , simple and less expensive ways to live and it is just a matter of making choices .

Liziqi has a ton of money. Think of how much it would cost (how many generations) to get so much land and the stuff she has on it. Also before the UA-cam videos they catered meals to funerals and weddings, but it would still take a long time just to get to that point. Oh, and she grows every plant, fruit, vegetable and herb known to man. I absolutely love this young lady!!

I love the pureness that it projects but at the same time I think it's a lot more involved in the time it takes to get the shots of different seasons and the growing process of the Ginger alone took months and a lot of planning and editing had to have went into this and it's not completely accurate. She is dressed warm but the lime tree or whatever fruit she picked can't grow in the cold and I had noticed some kind of a flower that makes me feel that in order for some things in the video to be of a questionable nature, that someone might record a lot of her life throughout the year and edits different parts to make a video of this style. Regardless of what it may be, it takes a lot of recording and planning and deciding what recordings to piece together to make a particular meal.
she owns a phone, and a fridge, and AC and lights. I think that the message is rather that one can live simply and quietly, but we cannot deny modern technology and how it has helped humanity.

That's the main reason I watch this channel, to study and observe the camera work. The cinematograhy work on this channel is second to none among youtubers. Every episode for the last two years have simply been awesome, the shots and the editing are as professional as it gets. And speaking of the shot, I don't think I've seen any single shot in any of her video is longer than 5 second. That's insane for a UA-cam video. Most people who are not into photography wouldn't understand how time consuming to make a short video of Hollywood worthy quality is. This lady has really put in the WORK, she deserves every bit of fame she's getting.

She literally has everything in her garden!
There is also some communal gardening in her village. No way one person could manage rice farming alone. She has a relationship with other villagers, one we sometimes see on camera, so they must collaborate on a lot of things. Land ownership was outlawed during the cultural revolution, so the land she's on must have been shared at some point. We just don't know. Her family was poor, so the elegant things must be recent acquisitions for the show.

Normally land is not owned but villagers can still legally own land, which is called "home base land" it often include large gardens(most of times that is multiple acres). They can also have long rent of farm land for very minimal (nearly non) cost as long as they do not move the land to other usage (construction/chemical factories etc). Also land ownership was not outlawed during the cultural revolution, it was done at 1949. Thank you.

She used to be a DJ in the city, but when her grandmother got sick, she back go home to take care of grandmother. And now it's time for her to live for herself. That is happiness

Poverty, high infant mortality, friction and oppression from elders, physical abuse from husbands who are hardened by the penury and worry, starvation, foot-binding...you name it. Indeed, a lot of the women who killed themselves probably were not even depressed, just desperate. For example, they may be getting sold to some drunkard to pay off their husbands' gambling debt, or were going to be drowned in a village-wide carnival with their love affair as the theme and their death as the crescendo.
This is not to say that there were not poetic and redeeming things to that rural life or that all rural women suffered. As a Chinese-American woman, I only want to point out that all cultures are beautiful and imperfect. Slamming any one of them and locating paradise in a more exotic one won't solve our problems. Balance and gratitude, such as what Ms. Li does here, may just do it.

I just discovered your videos last month and I'm hooked. I love it because of the food, the scenery but most especially because of your love and care for your grandma. She is very fortunate to have a grandchild like you. I wish I had that time also with my grandma, now I miss her more. I had to move to the city (and a different island, I'm from the Philippines by the way) when I got married so I only see her once or twice every 2 years. She died a year ago at the age of 99 years old and I guess it is because of the countryside carefree and less stress living , with fresh and nutritious food and she was taken good care by my 2 spinster aunt ( who also raised me until I got married because my parents live in the city and later my mom work abroad).
