I wonder how many Chinese people would love to return to this lifestyle. Early last year, I was in a Guangzhou restaurant when a young waitress wanted to practice her English on me. It wasn't very good.Turned out she was a university student working to earn money. She did say that she really wanted to learn the language but didn't know any 'foreigners' I did offer to help her via WeChat and we kept in touch when I returned to the UK. She is now working in Shenzhen and earning relatively good money - enough to help support her impoverished family. She is the eldest child so has a lot on her shoulders. Her English has improved greatly and we often video talk via WeChat. We are now good friends. As much as she enjoys her job and the money she earns - she yearns to have a small farm where she can grow crops and keep some livestock. I was actually introduced to Liziqi's videos by a Nepalese girl I know only a couple of weeks ago. Ever since watching her, she has inspired me to grow my own food. Even with very limited space in San Francisco, I just have to make it work and not buying too much of the processed with unknown preservatives food, I now grow lemons grass, cafia lime tree, green onion, mint, and basil, and other herbs and spices in using my planter pot and place them along the stair rails since there isn't any land or backyard to grow large amounts, so far, I've reduced spending on buying those herbs from the store, and I would say, it save my trip to the market and money as well, especially knowing that the food I eat comes from my hard labor... obviously it's not even .001% of what I've seen in this video, but it's a step to make it work in the dense city life...efforts is all it takes...😁🙏

I wonder how many Chinese people would love to return to this lifestyle. Early last year, I was in a Guangzhou restaurant when a young waitress wanted to practice her English on me. It wasn't very good.Turned out she was a university student working to earn money. She did say that she really wanted to learn the language but didn't know any 'foreigners' I did offer to help her via WeChat and we kept in touch when I returned to the UK. She is now working in Shenzhen and earning relatively good money - enough to help support her impoverished family. She is the eldest child so has a lot on her shoulders. Her English has improved greatly and we often video talk via WeChat. We are now good friends. As much as she enjoys her job and the money she earns - she yearns to have a small farm where she can grow crops and keep some livestock. I was actually introduced to Liziqi's videos by a Nepalese girl I know only a couple of weeks ago. I messaged my friend to ask if she had heard of Liziqi and she replied that she had and was so jealous of her. Liziqi is living the life that she dreams of living.

≪Li Ziqi's writing notes about this video≫ We Chinese cannot live without "firewood, rice, oil, salt, soy, vinegar and tea". The food that is served in every household needs to be "oily" in order to be tasty. That's why I wanted to make this video.
From a small seed, sowing seeds, growing seedlings, transplanting, flowering, seeds, harvesting, oil, and then three meals a day, many city kids today may not know that this is how they get their daily "oil"!
In our area, we start sowing vegetable seedlings around the white dew in September every year. The rice is harvested, the paddy is dried, and the seedlings are almost ready to go into the ground. After the seedlings are transplanted, they endure a cold winter. After the next year's hibernation, a large number of rapeseed flowers bloom one after another, turning the world into a golden color and making the air smell like cauliflower.
At this time, if you can set up a table in the field and have a hot pot with the fragrance of cauliflower, it would be a no-brainer, after all, you can even grip a few pieces of rapeseed moss and throw them into the pot, right?
The cauliflower blooms through the seeds, and as the seed clip fills up, the leaves on the bottom of the stalks turn yellow. The beaten rapeseed is dried for a day or two and then cleaned by a windmill before being sent to the oil mill. Nowadays, in oil mills, the raw oil is boiled and filtered for you, and you can take it home directly. The dried oil can also be soaked for farm fertilizer, and the flowers in my yard depend on them!
As for "oil", you can use whatever you want. It can be steamed, boiled, stir-fried, roasted, or sautéed, so I made whatever I could to suit the season.

Ever since watching her, she has inspired me to grow my own food. Even with very limited space in San Francisco, I just have to make it work and not buying too much of the processed with unknown preservatives food, I now grow lemons grass, cafia lime tree, green onion, mint, and basil, and other herbs and spices in using my planter pot and place them along the stair rails since there isn't any land or backyard to grow large amounts, so far, I've reduced spending on buying those herbs from the store, and I would say, it save my trip to the market and money as well, especially knowing that the food I eat comes from my hard labor... obviously it's not even .001% of what I've seen in this video, but it's a step to make it work in the dense city life...efforts is all it takes...😁🙏

@@soki1847I try do the same, at least to get self sufficient in some things. Peppermint is a good one, it grows well in pots and you don't need much of it to make a very tasty peppermint tea. We're trying coffee plants now, maybe one day 🙄 Daikon is amazing, so easy to grow

This is the kind of life I’m working towards. Cause of the pandemic I lost my room that I was renting in NY and lost my job. After working 7 hard years to move back to NY myself from Boston. But I’m hoping that everything will be back to normal and I can work again, working my dream job and saving up towards living in the mountains and have the life I’m dreaming of. Liziqi has inspired me to start baking, embroidery, learn new recipes for cooking, check on my family and grandparents more often, and to show/tell my loved ones everyday that I love them. I hope to one day live in the mountains with my birds, and cook outside, and live life comfortably without worrying about money.

Now i know why, it literally take months to let the plants grow and harvest it and make all the delicious food. For any reason, she deserves a like from everyone who watched this.
