The continual verbal mishaps made this video one of the harder ones to watch from Khan Academy. I homeschool and use KA on a daily basis, but this particular video leans towards a poorer quality because of the man speaking. Please replace this with a more eloquent lecturer.
Ribosomes are assembled in the cytoplasm, not the nucleolus. The nucleolus produces ribosomal subunits, but these must be exported into the cytoplasm through nuclear pores in order to be assembled in the cytoplasm into fully functioning ribosomes.
This was very helpful! Although, why did he make so many mistakes while talking?
" The nucleus is surrounded by a system of two concentric membranes, called the inner and outer nuclear membranes. The outer nuclear membrane is continuous with the endoplasmic reticulum, so the space between the inner and outer nuclear membranes is directly connected with the lumen of the endoplasmic reticulum."
not much explanation
so its basically a little pacman generator in a pacman maze
What would YOU buy for the nucleolus’ birthday - money is not an issue! What could make my nucleoli genuinely happy?
