Various clips from east ok Ponca City, OK this evening as tennis ball to baseball sized hail takes out the glass of a storm chaser's vehicle.
Holy baseballs Batman! That's some crazy hail!!! Talk about the car taking a beating. I feel so bad for everyone having to deal with this crazy weather. Be safe guys ❤
Looks like Golf balls to me. I know when you’re stuck in one they seem like footballs. I have seen softball sized hail. It with wind will rip tree limbs the size of legs off like toothpicks. Makes quite a bit larger dents than the golfball size. The ones I survived were very jagged, looked like the golfballs froze together to make the softball size. Fortunately most were golfball size, but when those softball size were hitting the cab it was terrifying.
Don't be gentle, it's a rental! I hope you took the extra insurance this trip.

depends on the manufacturer. mine have survived baseball size hail better then anything else on my property did

I was in a softball size hailstorm in Greeley, Co., and a three year old child was killed.

Not a dealer's lot, but the rail yard where the dealers pick up from. We had a couple of Mercedes in, they did have a few dents, but the were real hard to see. The rest had varying levels of damage. Except the Suzuki Swifts. They looked like they had been attacked with ball peen hammers!
Ponca City! I was wondering how Ponca was affected by this storm. I grew up there, graduated from PoHi in 1973. My parents moved and I took off for college. Haven’t been back for a long time. It was a great place to grow up!! ❤️

I feel for you, and pray that you get support to help you cover this expensive damage. As a retired liability and all-lines adjuster, but with only minimal training and experience in auto damage claims, I still suspect it could be a total loss. All the best!

For sure some gnarly hail coming down but nothing the size of baseballs I could tell except maybe the holes in the windshields could have been.

A car dealer told me of one day when he had a new Cadillac parked just outside the showroom, in a heavy storm. He figured he could reach out, unlock the car door, then jump in and drive it round to the workshop. He reaches out with the key.....and a hailstone broke his wrist. "Fuck the car!"

Imagine what happens next. You need to pick up the kids & get home. Then, all those cars need, at best, new glass. All those insurance adjustors-for cars & homes & etc. No rental cars available for hundreds of miles. It's fairly routine in areas of TX & OK &..... That's just hail. No wonder insurance rates are going up.
