I don't have rats now but I would always be the first to volunteer taking the rats home from school when I was a kid. I remember my mom's reaction when I carried a rat cage home from school and said, "don't worry mom, it's just for the Summer"! They're affectionate, intelligent, and playful critters. I would create cardboard mazes for them, snuggle with them, carry them around the house in my hoodie pocket. I have always loved rats. My kids have a bearded dragon but if they got a mammal pet I would 100% get a pair of rats. Super underrated pet.
Yes, please tell us how did you end up with 20 rats!!!😀 I had 9 Guinea pigs at one point and my husband put a foot down I have 7 now but lost and got more during the last 5 years

With you sharing this story they still go on ☺️ I agree wth you about class room pets my science teacher had a Flemish giant rabbit in a small cage he also had a hamster who my heart went out to students would poke him and wake him up by shoving pencils into his cage. I ha disc rat care when I was a teenager but back then you trusted what pet shops said. Do ynot u ever know why pets mart and petco stop selling rats? Not saying they should but just curious I used to see them when I would go to petco but never looked into why. Thanks for sharing your story.

Your first experience with Oreo makes ke giggle "she looked at me and i looked at her ohhh oh no" sounds like me when i first meet a animal i immediately fall in love with. Btw i would love to hear the story how tou ended up with wll your rats ❤

At least in Arizona, they claimed it was because the ones they got in were always extremely sick.
I read on Google that a child got bit by a rat that they had got from Petco and the boy got " rat bite fever " and eventually died.
