  • British Royal Marine Commandos Training - NATO vs Russia in Biggest Military Exercise
    British Royal Marine Commandos, U.S. Marines and other NATO troops staged a mock amphibious assault on Europe's coastline as part of the alliance's biggest exercise in 13 years - an event intended to demonstrate its conventional military muscle and send a message of warning to potential foes.
    The exercise involves 36,000 personnel from more than 30 Allied and Partner Nations, will take place throughout Italy, Portugal, Spain, the Atlantic Ocean, the Mediterranean Sea and also Canada, Norway, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. Trident Juncture 2015 will demonstrate NATO’s new increased level of ambition in joint modern warfare and will show-case a capable, forward-leading Alliance equipped with the appropriate capability and capacity to meet present and future security challenges. More than 12 major International Organizations, aid agencies and non-governmental organisations, such as the EU and AU will also participate in the exercise, demonstrating NATO’s commitment and contribution to a comprehensive approach.

    I don't understand why we always argue who's better, you dont see them arguing with each other, they have a mutual respect for each other as they know how hard each others training was and how battle hardened they both are.

    When my old unit trained with the Aussies in Australia and Hawaii we trained hard, hung out, drank beer. Nobody argued over who was better. We got along like brothers. Only in UA-cam comments section do you find civvies arguing over petty shit.

    I feel the British Marines are more closely related to The Rangers in terms of fitness and experience. The US marines aren't bad, but they just don't undergo the same brutal training as the Brits.

    • @brazeiar9672
      @brazeiar9672 8 років тому +3

      +shmached This is true. The US has several tiers of marines. The UK just has two tiers, tier 1 spec ops (SBS) and tier 2 commandos. All other general infantry roles are in the British army. Americans get mad if you make the comparison, but realistically the US marines aren't all infantry, many are in support roles and don't need to be crack troops. The British marines are just crack troops, nearly all support functions are done by the army. The Rangers are he sister unit of the Royal Marines, which is even more confusing because the Rangers are part of the army!

      Royal Marines are borderline special forces and are commando's, US Marines are essentially their own mini branch that excel at swift and deadly attacks, they are two different things.

    When I was in the Marines the possibility of a sea borne assault against a defended beach was terrifying. In Sarawak we attacked a kampong where rebels had taken hostages. On the way in all our casualties were in small boats fired on from the shore. We were successful in the mission but were very exposed in the approach.

    • @brazeiar9672
      @brazeiar9672 8 років тому +1

      +secondlastnameleft Not really. The USMC is a sort of mini-military, which contains combat marines, as well as support functions. This is not to be disparaging about those support functions, clearly they are essential to the functioning of any military.

      Remember that the royal marines commandos are Elite infantry considered to be tier 3 where the USMC are basic tier 4 grunts. there is also the fact that British tiers are generally 1 above Americans so a tier 3 would be a tier 2 in american. so what you have is a tier 4 and a tier 2 force. of cource the tier 2 will be faster xD

      Gaston gaming No. I meant English officers. You will find plenty of English officers in the British army, you will also find some Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish ones.
      That said, the vast majority of them will be English, same thing with the soldiers. Kind of make sense since England is _by far_ the biggest country in the Union.

      i will and i cam prove further on were better going back on to US Marines i looked up entry requirements fittness wise it goes something like
      3 mile run
      100 points for 18 mins
      50 points a pass for 28 minutes anything above 28 minutes is a fail. 3 pull ups ect. Thats piss easy i did 2.5 mile in 20/21 minutes im 16.
      I can do 6/7 pull uos before it starts getting really hard. Uk marines have to do 1.5 mile run in a maximum pace fast run of 12:30 first time pass or fail then 10 minute break
      and then same distance in 10:30 or less pass or fail thats far harder. And then they have to do 7+ pull ups. 40-60 press ups to a bleep sound all at once and then do a sit up beep test 65 minimum to 85 maximum type in PRMC Push up ect. Then they do hard runs up and down hill with 20 kilograms in the bergen (rugsack, backpack). Thats not all either there very hard poeple UK marines. I know a Royal Marine who six foot 3 rock hard and is a very fast runner hes a tank an elite soldier. I want to be a paratrooper the parachute regiment is the airborne assualt group the marine rivals there training is also harder. Im in training now and did 1.5 mile fast maximum run in 11:14 and i need 8:45 or less to be safe. Also need to do a minimum of 50 press ups in 2 minutes and a minimum of 50 sitt ups in 2 minutes i pass them both by a few. I also training to do 10 mile up and down steep hills carrying 18 kilograms in a bergen in the time limit of 1 hour 50 mins i hope i can do this! So beat that USMC Head!

      Also theres lots of other test they do competence tests army medical criminal records ect what do the US Army do? i heard its not that hard to get in apparently you dont need to be really clever either you can get in with a few E grade qualifications theres no hard criteria to meet in the US Army unless you go for intelligence.

      We do but we also use canadian weapons well UKSF UK Specail forces use Canadian and American and German Austrian weapons. We are the only small country in the world that is just as elite as big country we better but on a smaller scale we have less troops or tanks ect. But we're more efficient were just as good as the US airborne and USMC. The SAS took out 400 of enemy fighters in the 80s Oman in the gulf there were 4-8 SAS soldiers and 2-3 native soldiers they were outnumbered by loads and still won. The SAS are the best because they defy the odds! I dont care what you say it's all propaganda US army propaganda. Yes the good I'm nit denying that but we have the best army in the world. Our soldiers are like Spartans Elite, yours rare just like troy large amounts of average soldiers. Ive even watched a programme where a USMC person admitted most UK regiments are so much better. Believe what you want to believe I don't care I know who the best are. Imgonna sign up for the Parachute regiment when I'm 19 I'm gonna be proud of fighting with the toughest most professional airborne assault force in the world period. 60% of the SAS are made up of Paras. Type in the selection course on UA-cam I hope I pass P company. So are you actually gonna sign up or are you a patriotic deluded lunatic?

    could it be that british soldiers and marines are better trained and better skilled than us marines and army soldiers? the brits and generally european soldiers look and act more calm and collected, while the with us soldiers things look hectic and tense, the europeans seem better adapted to stressful situations, and dont seem to give a fuck if they should die...

    • @brazeiar9672
      @brazeiar9672 8 років тому +1

      +Dhaune You could make that argument in terms of British forces, but certainly not all European forces. The average US soldier is much better trained and skilled than the average European soldier. They're not even close.

      Hi, Dhaune. The secret for calmness is the plain cup of tea! When we Brits' are faced with a problem, we put the kettle on and brew a pot of tea. It's one of those peculiar British things, drinking tea - has shaped who the Brits' are. A good cup of tea with a touch of milk - with or without a spoonful of sugar, calms frayed nerves and helps to determine logic and reason. Perhaps, that is why British Main Battle Tanks are equipped like no other - they have an electric water heater on board for the crew to brew a cup of tea before going into battle. Other nations' scoff at the British and their tea drinking - but most of the hot-headed gung-ho nations are coffee drinkers. and always too hyped up on caffeine to think calmly. I know this seems crazy - but, until certain well-known global purveyors of coffee came to Britain's shores, ramming beef-burgers and triple X coffee down our throats, we were a well behaved population, but, now we are seeing an unwanted social revolution of young hot-heads walking the streets stoned out of their minds on coffee, cola and pills - just like everywhere else on the planet. I'm all for getting a French passport and going to live on Clipperton Island, away from it all! Clipperton Island? Where is that? Hey, I'm not telling - go find your own island! Kindest regards, Bill.

      Whilst both forces are good at what they do (American and British forces), the training for the US Marines is something like 13 weeks where as the British Royal Marines undergo 32 weeks of training. They are also trained very differently. US marines are trained almost like UK Para's are, built for aggression. UK Royal Marines however, are constructed more along the lines of a thinking soldier that can perform to a calmer and higher standard (arguably).
      In short, US Marines are trained for pure aggression. UK Royal Marines are trained in keeping a cool head under pressure and thinking things through more thoroughly.
      So, it is debatable that you could argue that the British Royal Marines are better infantry, whereas the US Marines are better soldiers? The sheer size of the US however, means that they don't need to train all of their army to a stupidly high standard as they literally have so many soldiers that you wouldn't want to fuck with them.
      Typical saying I hear a lot is: "UK have better trained Military, US have better equipment and a ridiculously sized arsenal of weaponry as well as a shit ton of funding."

      ***** Yes of course, very true. Reading back over this, it does appear that I'm biased towards the Royal Marines but that's only because in about a year I'm applying to be one haha. The Parachute Regiment are a staple of some of the hardest training in the British military. Royals and Paras are on par in terms of fitness and I would go as far to say that the Paras might actually just take the cake on fitness but they are a brute force unit that is pretty much based on pure aggression and so are trained that way which is in no way a bad thing. It's actually a very necessary element in the British arsenal.

      british are not the same as the Europeans, just look at our history , we always been the awkward cunts but for good reason . Btw 🇬🇧🇺🇸🇨🇦🇦🇺🇳🇿 there you go , best troops in the world there for you. Calm cool collected in the face of danger , every damn one of them. Fuck the Europeans . Not only did some of them help Argentina in the Falklands war but also supplied them and went out of their way to make it hard for the U.K. . So fuck France in particular and fuck Europe in general . God save the Queen and all her dominions and God Bless America

      Well of course, the USMC has over twice as many men and the USN and USMC have over 2.5 times the budget of the entire UK armed forces. You don't offend anyone, you just show a lack of perspective.

      +Sylvain Campeau I think he means that they don't look as strong. Royal Marines selection definitely favours core strength and endurance with a heavy pack, over bench press, since the emphasis is on long combat patrols and march to battle. This is fairly common with spec ops where with excessively biceps you're just carrying dead weight.

      When you say we look weak, I think it's the other way around. 100 US Marines went through the 31-week basic training of the RM. 12 finished.
