something to consider in conjunction with the Chippy bow: don't use any topazes for that, instead, put them in any socketable armour and helm combination for the increase in magic find drop chance. This is good for building wealth early on into a ladder reset or just starting a new SSF character. You won't really miss the slight damage decrease by using the other elemental gems instead but you will enjoy the slightly better chance at maybe finding a few good low-level uniques and set items.
My pro tip for remembering where TASRED starts is that if you have the runes in order of ascending level requirement, you need TAS gems for the TAS runes - Thul, Amn, Sol.
Never noticed that! I organize my runes vertically in ascending order. (Multiples of that rune are stored horizontally). I have a chipped gem in the first spot in each row, which corresponds to that particular line for cubing up. Very easy to remember what you need that way! Blizzard, give us a currency tab already!!!
@@sebbie_gonzo that's nice! I try to keep five or so of each rune, have them in rows in ascending order (El-Eld, Tir-Nef, etc.). I like your way though, might take a look!
Chipped gems are probably the most valuable gem next to perfect ones for me since running LK chests gives tons of low runes. Sometimes I’m dying to get a chipped ruby or amethyst and it feels like they just don’t exist sometimes.
I use almost all of my chipped gems on that last recipe you talked about, rerolling magic items and adding sockets. Its a really good way to get gold early game. In act2 normal, you can buy a magic scepters for 300 or 400 gold, reroll with the gems, often you'll get +skills on it and sell for 10,000 gold. Also if your playing a paladin its easy to roll +1-3 blessed hammers on a scepter which can be a nice weapon to use from level 18-25 until you can use a spirit.
Newbie questions: 1. Can mercs use attached spells from armor? 2. Do mercs and player Mf% stack? 3. Do act 5 mercs get barb lvl bonuses from gear like act 1 and Amazon skills?
Best use for adding sockets to a magic item is buying cheap magic scepters from drognan, rerolling them for something with +skills, then selling them for a profit. Can give you a nice gold boost early on in ladder if you need to shop for an expensive runeword base like a blessed hammer scepter or leaf staff.
Bro the last chipped gems method you listed is the best. You can possiably change a cruel blade to a cruel blade of swiftness and have one of the most godly items in game
Hmmm I think it's capped at ilvl25 so I don't think cruel is a possibility. But you could use it to get some nice rolls on wands, heads, orbs ect for skills
@@GGMentor There is a trick to partially overcome this issue. If a quality level of the weapon is 85 for example the affixes available on it would be at least 71 regardless of the item level. Thus by putting 3 chipped gems with caduceus you potentially can create any blue caduceus with 2 sockets and 3 any automods. The only problem is that the chance of really useful one is extremely small. But you can do it again and again and the only amount of available chipped gems is a limiting factor. The same is with necrowands and sorc orbs. Essentially it is a re-roll of blue weapons but using chipped gems instead of perfect ones with extra perk of possible 1-2 sockets. By the way standard(need sockets in base) and flawless gems do the same thing. So you can reroll blue weapons by 4 types of gems (only flawed don't work).
When you repair an item with El/ Eld and chipped gem the ilvl on the repaired item gets set to 1. So yeah, there is a chance to change skills, but it will only be from the first lvl 1 tier of skills (Look at the skills u did see; summon skeleton/ skeleton mastery/ bone armor, all lvl 1 skills.). You will never get a 40+ All Res Pala Shield or so from repairing a cracked sacred targe. The only real use for the repair recipy (imo) is mostly to repair Cracked Monarch shields on ladder reset. Maybe Archon Plate's and see how the armor roll is like, then maybe cube it. Anything that doesn't need a level-bound roll on the item, pretty much.
Not to burst your bubble but I talk about that at 13:48 as well as the reason why for certain things it's a good thing. I.e. Rolling a Head with +3 Skeleton +3 skeleton mastery. There are also other issues where Items have a higher Base Qlvl than the Ilvl and therefore get locked at the lowest Qlvl possible for that item when rolling affixes, prefixes, and sometimes class effects. Seems to vary depending on the effect. A Big for instance is the Diadem which is locked at Qlvl 85 for generating Affixes, and Suffixes.
For adding sockets to weapons I recommend doing it to wands. They can roll necro skills and sell for lots of gold. Or if you are a Necro you could get a pretty decent +3 to teeth or skellies for a nice early game damage boost.
It's also a good way to generate gold for gambling. Rolling sockets on blue wands that you can buy from merchants for less than 2k, three chips, and often times the result is an item you can vendor for 25k+ depending upon diff lvl.
And the normal weapons to upgrade from cracked or low for normal. Like a cracked grim stchle to normal, than socketing. Or an Ethernal low polearm upgrade . That was not on the video.
I get my teleport from a crafted amulet with 25 lvl2 tp charges, that shit gets expensive, is there a way to recharge those as well or only weapons and armor?
you know, I would actually pay for stash tabs that have slots for cube recipes on them if they'd restrain themselves on the price I'd even put up with having to pay for each recipe just so long as they put tabs like that in the game
so i could use enigma in a superior base and instead of paying hundreds of thousands of gold to repair it i can just put it in a cube with an ort rune and its full durability?
Re: Chipped Bow; Ral-Ral-Ral in a Hunter's Bow on a Act I Fire Merc is way better. Can't equip it until Lv19, but she can't use Exploding Arrow until 20 anyway. Good upgrade to keep her relevant into Act II and Act III.
I think you are showing the chip bow damage wrong. You need to show it on a low level player who is act 1or 2 normal and ony level 12 or less. Your player you showed us on is able to play hell level and is avery high level and has high stats as wll and he has a inventory of charms to.
@@GGMentor great vid . Yes you did what you said but take another look the damage it shows is still very high when you put bow on. Chipped topaz gives 1-8 lightning, chipped ruby gives 3-6 fire, the chipped blue one 2-4 cold damage and bow 2-7 damage. You max damage all added up at level 10 is 8- 25 mixed elemental damages.

Merc mf stacks with your mf
The answer for #2 is no, your mf is your mercenarys mf
1. No
2. Yes. If your merc gets the killing blow, their magic find is added to yours for the drop/s.
3. Yes, as of patch 2.4.
