Student 1: "Maestro, is it permitted to smoke my pipe while practicing my fencing?" M. : "No, dear student, that would not be appropriate behavior." Student 2: "Maestro, may I practice my footwork while smoking my pipe?" M. : "Yes, of course, dear student, it is always advisable to practice your footwork whenever possible."
@@bubbagump2341 Yes, I can see it is a cane. Doesn't mean you cannot fence with it. In the words of Aldo Nadi, "A good fencer can fence with a broomstick." [Also many of us consider stick fighting a subset of "fencing." The working definition of fencing I always use is, "Fencing - the art and science of wielding a sword or sword-like device."] If you prowl around my channel, you will find quite a lot footage of canne, baton, jogo do pau, bayonet, lance, etc.
A pipe and a sword unbeatable!!! Cheers
Some pro lunges there!

Student 2 may think he won that, but in reality the Maestro was just teaching the whole class a lesson in how to sell your actions.
Bravo.
That is cane fighting, not fencing!
He is thrusting as well as cutting. Not that many thrusts in canne.
@@schlager7 You posted the vid and can't see that it is a CANE in his hand? 🤨
