Restyling my New Hibiscus Bonsai Tree

I bought this broom style Hibiscus tree from the Birmingham bonsai boot sale but it had a lot of flaws, the more I corrected the more I noticed so a complete restyle and repot is how this video ends up.

Hibiscus (at least the rose of sharon variety I've got in my yard) grow GREAT from cuttings. I'm unsure about air layering but they seem pretty feisty and I bet would root no problem. Nice tree!

@@bonsaiexpression depending on the variety, it could! I usually rip the buds off and save that energy for the roots or new buds. The flowers are gorgeous though so I wouldnt blame ya if you left em on just to bask in their floweriness

Thanks jesh. I'm loving it every thing is greening up now. I just sat around the trees yesterday watching the honey bees coming and going. It's a great time of year. What part of the world are you from? Australia?

would it be possible to airlayer part of the trunk to get new roots in the empty space to get good root growth

Good question wally. I would guess so, but I'm new to hibiscus so I'd have to do the research to see what the success rate is on them. If it's easy enough with good success rate it's most definitely an option for the future if the inverse taper doesn't start to self correct.
