The Black Library has some really good horror novels. He mentions it, but they are pretty horrifying, as even in Age of Sigmar has horrid implications of the settings. The Warhammer Crime novels are also extremely good. I prefer the Crime novels, personally, the 40k universe is so interesting when told by a single perspective in a hive city. Flesh and Steel has a moment that has haunted me since I read it, if you know, you know.
The horror of this story is the depths of malices that humans are capable of, being either the horrific work conditions of the Imperium, the monstrosity of the Inquisition or the unthinkable consequences of the actions of a Scribe thrilled by the prospect of murder.
To everyone watching this retelling, i cannot stress enough that you find a way to listen to the actual audio drama. It's really well done and worth the time
Thanks for the recommendation. I found one where they used a cast of different voice actors, and it played out like the old radio stories I used to listen to.
You're probably right and I really enjoyed it. But I think, after this great retelling, games workshop should consider to give we shammer the job of a reader for their audio books. His retelling gave me shivering just like the original.
It’s poetic that she’s killed by a crew she screwed over. I like to think that, right before she died, she saw the Watchers face and was horrified by what she really was.
Another lost soul who was screwed over by the corpse emperor? She went about it in a fucked up way, but she was 100% right about the imperium. In before “this post right here sir”
Naw. She wouldnt be horrified. She doesnt have that emotional capability anymore. But I agree, she propably gave in and looked, seeing and accepting the irony ofthe situation.
I don’t think she will see the watcher, that thing got left behind in the warp storm but I imagine she will be horrified when she steps off the ship and sees the ships ID, she is a scribe after all and she will remember the name of the ship doomed and when she sees the guardsmen draw his gun she will know exactlywhats about to happen.
Damn. For sure thought that the ship was just gonna be the watcher toying with her. But that ending fits way better than the one I thought of. A literal consequential taste of their actions.
By the end of the story the Watcher, while creepy, doesn't even seem like an antagonistic entity. It's like a chaos entity of metaphysical and literal reflection.Holding people accountable for their past transgressions. Would explain it's why it's so interested in the one character over all others.
Not chaos, it warp base yes but has no connection to any god, it is it's own thing, chaos may be big but it not the whole warp there are small independent factions. This is guilt but taken form, hunting down the most horrible people to feed off of them, has such it is a good warp entity who may be even against chaos. Think about it you are a guard about to get murdered by a chaos marine, this guy will tell the marine to turn around and eat him, then gets up waves good bye and feeds off more marines. You meanwhile will be left alone since your innocent and not a good snack, a rare good warp entity.
@@Fourtytwo4242 I generally see chaos and the warp as interchangable at the current era of 40k. I agree its probably not tied to any big four. I don't know if I'd call it a good entity, it still feeds-off of the suffering of those it affects and can drive them insane but I suppose its a matter of perspective. The Guy is the story died seemingly content after expressing his grief and regret so worked out for him I suppose.
@@Horribleman well it was not after the guy, it wanted the girl who killed millions, it after the worse of the worse, so if your not that much of a bastard it leave you alone while it go straight for a dark eldar and have a nice lunch. It more neutral then good I guess but clearly not evil has it only wants to hunt rapists and murders then a lonely soldier following orders. But then again in 40k neutral is good.
@@Fourtytwo4242 It likely isn't good, or bad, or neutral, it just Is. It may not even be a warp entity, just a phenomenon created by the incoming warp storm; a semi-sentient dark mirror reflecting a person's own psyche back at them. Have to remember the Warp itself is pretty much a realm of our own emotions and such, so any seeping into reality will likely affect psykers and those with the most emotional baggage first. Even the elderly scribe saw it, and from the sound of it, his only real problem is hubris; he even tried raising a warning about someone possibly trapped and left behind.
It just one of the way for demon to corrupt people. They torment them if their past not for the purpose of redemption but mostly to break them and make them their slave.
I really appreciated how this much horror was possible with only a tiny smidge of chaos. Mental breakdown from stress alone called have filled the watcher's role. Also, reminder that humanity doesn't actually need chaos to be terrible.
@WesHammer It's worth working your way through the Heresy series in order imo, yeah a few of the novels don't advance the main story, but they introduce characters I've been pleasantly surprised to see pop up again during the Siege. It's not necessary to enjoy the Siege story, but I enjoyed meeting characters I'd forgotten about 20-30 books ago again and seeing their stories wrap up.
Just read up to Horus’s corruption (second book, I believe), then skip to the Siege of Terra series. The rest isn’t super important, and the siege novels get the absolute best writing from Abnett especially.
That Ending...What perfect Irony. While the inquistor apprentice accepted everything and even though betrayed, I'd like to think he went Peacefully while coming to terms with what he did. Greta on the other hand....Welp, she has become a meal to someone's table. And I would not be surprised if this was the SAME militarum that resorted to cannibalism. edit: Oops, I thought not. But, still Ironic.
@@ronnyrdr6553 given that they'll all most likely be executed for canibalism and she'll be eaten I'd say the watcher is the one that should be careful not to end up as corpse starch XD
What a perfect ending. The inquisitor was a monster that regretted his own actions and died trying to redeem himself While the scribe was pretending to be innocent only for the reveal that she was a monster all along and died due to the consequences of her own actions. And the watcher was portrayed as a monster but never was one at all. Only a being that makes you face your own sins and regrets. Amazing story
The inquisitor did what he thought was right "a drop of mercy will result in the blood of a thousand innocent" He tortured people to save lives. The scribe became mad because of the bureaucratic regime which had consumed her life And thought this was her only way of fighting back In the end the rescuers did what they thought was right by eating her
Can't help but smile at that ending. Her just desserts come by her own hand. I understand why she committed what she did, the logic not being terrible in the face of 40k's reality. The poetic close is fantastic
Well put, and same with the smile. It's a weird feeling of a combination of pity and "that's what you get". There is nothing more satisfying than something happening and having actual believable consequences. It's 10x more so when she's taken so much glee from it. Simply poetic.
Bro fuck that, i almost can't believe that this bitch thwarted her own race like that without even a trace of chaos corruption. She just wanted to feel powerful, how unbelievably selfish. Like if she truly wanted to be idealistic in her efforts against the imperium she should have (quite obviously) praised herself to the ruinous powers, but obviously she seems too cowardly for that.

@@cardinalwilson8034 The crew are starved and the officer does stated to not let anyone knew they were committing cannibalism. So it's a feast except for maybe the 2 men who know the truth.
lol the ending I love how the eldritch horror is just the background of the story. Oh, there is a solar-system sized warp storm and a mind-invading entity? That's normal stuff for imperium citizens. Like weather.
When I listened to this story, all I can think of is the flaws of the imperium and how it is failing its people. Driving someone to this point due to the harsh codes and laws enforced upon the people. The salamanders are far from perfect, but it really does solidifies them as one of my favorite chapters, due to them actually giving a shit about mankind
If you can take a look at the space wolves fighting back against the inquisition after the War for Armageddon. I had thought that the wolves were just the executioners of the emperor, they do the imperiums bidding without question but this showed them in a different light
@@alcid4268 Kind of? The idea was to starve the chaos gods. They are only 'gods' because they are in fact so powerful. Lets take Khorne for example. God of strife and conflict. Every form of strife and conflict feeds him. A drunken brawl that starts because of a football game? He gets a drop of power. You butcher 1000 people praising his name, he gets a bucket of power. Big E knows you cant outright destroy the chaos gods, but he can make them wither on the vine to the point they are ineffectual. Imagine if khorne couldn't manifest in any way in the galaxy; he can't summon bloodletters, can't whisper in people ear encouraging them to fight, can't affect anything even on a small scale. He's too weak and too atrophied to affect the world in any way. Sure, the god 'exists' but so what? He's effectively harmless. That was the emperors plan. Weaken them to the point they are powerless to interfere. And how do you stop them from giving power to the chaos gods, either directly or even unconciously? They can't do it if they don't know they exist. If they know the gods exist then on some level they know "Huh, that monster I just butcher just made khorne a bit stronger." And that means khorne got more than just the bare minimum sliver of power from it. His plan was just to reduce their gains in power to the absolute bare minimum by denying even the knowledge they existed in the first place, thus in turn making them so weak they can't make their existence known and appear with a sign over their head saying "Hi, we exist, notice me!"
This was a superb allegory on monsters. At the end of the day, the watcher in the rain did as much actual damage as a campfire story about werewolves or vampires. All of our infamous monsters are just allegory for the monsters within ourselves.
I mean, the Watcher pretty much mindrapes anyone that acknowledged it into madness. While it's true the Interrogator did awful shit, the thing that caused him to go insane was the Watcher, and nothing else, since he was already brainwashed and trained not to feel anything about it. It would be like saying the One Ring didn't do anything, the people that carried it simply wanted it for themselves from the get go. So, the Watcher took an active role. It just didn't rip people apart with its claws or anything, abd just fuck with their heads, which is pretty much spot on how most Daemon corruption works. Unless its Nurgle, then you just get physically ill.
@@moriskurth628 All the watcher really did was force them to confront who they were. It is not uncommon in real life for people who have done terrible things to reflect on them at a later point in their lives and feel bad about it. Some people can live in delusion, can refuse to look at the evil of their own actions, as with the scribe. But the larger point was that even if you refuse to acknowledge your own evil, it can still catch up to you in the end. When we externalize evil, when we cannot acknowledge it as originating within ourselves, that is when we are truly lost.
I love how the administratum officer just tells her "I'll tell you how to get out of here in a few months" that's the good 'ol imperium bureaucracy alright XD
One of the best things about this story I think is they never explain what the watcher in the rain actually is. I listened to one horror audiobook and it was revealed to be a Daemon of Tzeentch. To me that took all of the fear aspect out of it. The unknown aspect of this watcher is what makes it scary.
I know, right? Not all of Chaos are the four gods, they are just the four most influential beings there. There's a plethora of smaller deamons skulking about in the Warp as well. A warp entity not connected to any major gods would've been refreshing.
"I was thinking about the horrible fate this mission was reserving me, deamon, chaos space marine, filthy xenos.... But I was wrong, the worst was the silent and cold embrace of the dark space"
WesHammer: “I don’t think is possible to put into words just how truly horrific and terrifying the universe of Warhammer 40k is.” Also WesHammer: proceeds to put into word just how truly horrific and terrifying the universe of Warhammer 40k is
Am I misunderstanding this correctly, in the end her own missfilings that undoubtably caused the cannibalism onboard the imperial vessel that agreed to board her is what led to the men deciding to kill her and eat her?
I don't think the men knew she was the one who miss filled their. I think that's what they've been for months, going around looking vessels in distress and promising to help the people on board. Only to kill the people they rescue so they can eat them. It's just ironic that Greta, just so happened to be rescued by the same people she screwed over
That's the implication. For all we know, there could be a thousand other scribes on a thousand other worlds who do the same thing for the same or their own reasons. It's not improbable in a rotting empire as vast as the Imperium of Man.
The amount of missfilings she did could have inevitably led to other instances of cannibleism, this could be an entirely different group, but basically yes, she got eaten by her own consequences.
An additional horror twist to the plot could be that the very warp storm that started it all was caused by all the tormented souls of those who died due Greta's actions, dragged through Immaterium until they gather around K4 to have its final revenge (and sure they did)
Man I've gotta say your topics of discussion, the details you highlight, and your descriptions is what gets me hyped for new videos. I'm really enjoying all of your long videos especially, your perspective is much appreciated.
I really wasn’t on board with the twist ending until the last chunk of it. Still feels like a moment where someone with the writing process went “It needs to be darker!”
I disagree, simply because by the description of her actions it didn't sound like it was an accident. Sending faulty respirators to troops on a toxic world? That shit's intentional. It wasn't at all surprising that she was, in fact, doing it on purpose. Also, the narrative demanded a darker twist in that exact moment. Whether it be her gloating confession or her being attacked by the watcher, something needed to pump the tension. If you have a moment of respite at the end of a horror story, often it's only there to make the next bad event bite more deeply.
This is beautifully Grim dark. This lowly Adept got more done in her short life than Abaddon and the black crusade in that time. I love how this shows that the Imperium is its own worst enemy.

Honestly we need more eldritch in 40k. We know so much about the chaos gods that its difficult to properly portray the Horror they could actually be. But things like the Watcher are PERFECT examples of things from the warp that are truely eldritch. We understand so little of what it is, what it wants, and that's honestly what the warp and the entities within it should be. Its weird how rarely we see the "Horror" aspect of the warp or indeed ANY part 40k that could be horror stories in their own right. I'd love to see some stories from the human perspective about the Red Terror. Or any of the horrific shit that goes on in the Ghoul Stars, since I'm fairly certain you have some truly eldritch entities lurking the the Ghoul stars that are entirely separate from the warp.
I think the problem with Chaos Gods is that they all have standardized armies of demons with set-in-stone shapes for the tabletop. These "unaligned" warp entities are much more interesting because they have nothing to do with the tabletop so they can be alive and realistic within the confines of the lore. A bloodletter would be terrifying to encounter sure , but you know everything there is to know about it. Meanwhile this watcher thing could be ANYTHING. A Chaos Spawn gone wrong? An unidentified demon of Tzeentch? Or the infinitely better option , something unknowable.
It's the issue of the 40K Universe usually being depicted through the eyes of the Emperor's Angels of Death, 8+ft. tall demigods clad in power armor thicker than tank plating, armed with standard issue rapid-firing rocket launchers (Bolters); often with a side of thousands-of-years-old Eldar alien witches acting out inscrutable millennia-long plans. When you're just a person on the ground, whether it's in the meatgrinder of the front lines of the Astra Militarum, or the Hive Worlds; things are a LOT scarier.
Imagine a warp entity that is all beyond human interpretation, you can't, such a warped entity is beyond us and thankfully contained to it's existence. Literally impossible and a cognitive hazard that drives all mad who experience it. Something so horrible you can't believe it exists.
stories like this are why they need to expand Chaos beyond just the big three gods, there are infinite horrors within the Warp and having it restrained to just three "gods" is not sufficient, there are countless monsters waiting to be found / explored.
Meanwhile, the Watcher, shut it's eyes. It felt extreme warmth from behind, then absolute cold. He spoke, almost monotonous, like machines, yet in human voice, "Good. Onto the next. These are their sins." As the presence past the Watcher, blinding light overcame it. Then, darkness. Only the sound of rain. The Watcher, under it's breath, says, "Praise be upon you, my Emperor..."...because Big E watch the Watcher.
I Wonder if this is a Hommage to „the Watcher in the water“ from LOTR , one of the absolutely horrifing „Nameless things“ that even Sauron was scared of. Basically Lovecraft in Tolkiens World. Older than the gods themself and noone knows Where they come from
@@KINGMANJARO_343 i personally think that the nameless things are actually older than any Maiar, Valar and even older than Eru Illuvatar. My Theory is that they are the Manifestation of the Void that was before creation.

It is still not creepy. Girl is psychopath who realized she could cause people to die by making bureaucratic 'mistakes' and did it repeatedly because she enjoyed it. 40k creepy would be her eating baby's to gain the power of baby souls or something.
this story was horrifying, and the fact that we did not discover who/what the watcher was or what the fate of the world it took over is...makes this whole story way more scary, and its still out there somewhere. Edit: also props to you for not making 40k topics that have been covered by literally everyone else, and actually making interesting 40k content...like i havent even heard about horrors THIS scary from 40k Keep up the good work.
the watcher is probably a warp manifestation of humanity's collective guilt, trying to get people to look at it, to look at the evil they have done, and the choices they chose not to make
@@alltomorrowsfan i was thinking about something like that too, and it does make sense. It appeared the around the same time when the warp storm hit. Possible but its more likely just an unaligned Chaos entity that feeds on Guilt, if it was Tzeenchian than there is an odd lack of magic based madness inducing mutations but Tzeench is a God that likes to troll so not 100% off the table, it could also be Slanesh but thats even more unlikely with the lack of Sensual and Pain overload. P.S for all We Know the Watcher is actually Conrad Curse just trolling people as a Warp Entity
The Event Horizon is a Warhammer story even if it's unofficial. Somewhere Doctor Weir stirs, waiting to show people the horrors of a dimension of absolute chaos.
I always liked the idea of Event Horizion actually being an unofficial spinoff of the Hellraiser franchise. It almost fits even better than 40k would, especially if you consider Dr.Weir to be a sort of Cenobyte (a sadistic, vaguely demonic entity from a hell-like dimension of the hellraiser franchise.)
My god, I really enjoyed the ending. Oddly, I understood why the girl was doing this, but the just deserts at the end with the starving navy troopers was just 😮 (that emoji was my face)
So what happens at the end? The other ship is gonna eat her? Why don't they just take all the rations she has? If they got enough for two people for a month. It should be able to last them a couple weeks right? At least more than eating just one lady will last them. Plus they're gonna be executed anyway, why cause more suffering by sustaining your life until you're killed? Sure the woman is a monster, but they don't know that
Yes. These constant attempts by her to tell him what to do based on her firm belief that "she knows better, but shouldn't actually tell him anything, or let him decide", is an incredibly convincing part of the horror.
Ya there were 2 other spooky ones I know of "a way out" and "predition's flame" "the wicked and the damned is also fantastic. More of a traditional audio book. But very creepy

Possibly excusable in some circumstances but the imperium is a stickler for regulations and don't often take exceptions lightly. They are a cross between facists of the nazis and stalinisist of the soviet Union. Human life is just another tool, a commodity or resource to the authorities.
Would probably fall under desecration of the sacred human form. Though they serve corpse-starch/soylens viridians, but hypocrisy is like the Imperium's middle name.
@@TheSixthDoctor It could be a remnant of some 20k or 30k rule issued by the Emperor, any of the Primarchs, or the High Lords of Terra; to keep isolated voyagers/colonies from succumbing to Prion diseases they could spread to others. (there's enough diseases in the universe from Nurgle already, no need to give him more inspiration) Whereas corpse-starch/soylens viridians is probably processed through methods that remove all chance of prion disease and the multitude of issues cannibalism brings to those who practice it.
It's funny how some of our favourite bois can absorb memories by eating people. Maybe big E wanted to discourage other people from unlocking that skill. Seems dangerous.
This retelling was great I listen to your video on “A way out” first and had to watch this one next. Both were great stories, I love these kind of space horror stories. I’d love to see other 40k horror retellings on this channel!
I love the fact that the watcher seems to be its own kind of entity. Its not with Chaos or any other faction just a creature from the warp that does its own thing.
Just wow! the whole story but specially the ending is so good, almost poetic in essence with some just enough room for the reader/listener to finish it on its own. Outstanding
As someone that read books a lot back in the day, I both regret and am happy to have come across this video. I wish I could have read it myself and just be blown away by the plot twist.
I listened to the audio book and i can recommed it, it has sound effects and everything, amazing voice acting, great quality overall , engaging story as well. That last plot twist was just such a satisfying ending.
I love how it just further justifies execution for a mistake made by Gretta, but it is the structure of the imperium and how easily exploited by Chao that drove her into a power craze. Gonna give this book a read! Thanks for sharing !
It's the problem with memetics. How the hell do you tell someone not to think/acknowledge Object A, without telling them how to identify Object A? Telling them to shut up and just not acknowledge Object A doesn't help either. Worst case scenario: The poor, poor chaos Ogryns at the start of the Horus Heresy who still think they're serving the imperium because they aren't smart enough to ask
A pure horror story set in this universe, especially from the perspective of relatively normal people, is honestly really effective, and kind of refreshing considering most lore videos on UA-cam are about how badass one or the other godlike factions are, and not about what it can be like to deal with this insanity on a realistic level.
Man, this reminds me of Carcharodon’s Tithe. Excellent, horrific tale that. And the intro brought to mind the story of Cadia’s siege and fall to Chaos, with the one officer who is brought in by Mortarion during the campaign.
I thought it was gonna turn out one of them was the demon on the ship. Like she didn't want to look at it but now it's in front of her cause the investigator was corrupted. Or when she smiled, I thought she was going to ask "do you see me?" Still a good ending tho
Disembodied Foreshadow: 'Willll you ssssee meeeee?' Adeptus Quirky-Not-Like-The-Other-Scribes: 'I see nothing!' Interigatus Tunnel-Vision: 'Reveal... your secrets.' Random Ouija Servo Skull: 'You're all going to die down here.' Mischievous Spooky Voice: 'Enemiessss offf the Hhhheirr, Beware!!' It was at that point the awkward girl realized things just got so much worse than mere Chaos fuckery. She knew that hissing voice seemed familiar. 😆😆😆😆

This video made me sub to the channel. I had no clue that Warhammer 40K Horror was a thing, let alone a thing done well, until watching this.
Let me introduce you to the flayed ones my good man. These are the perfect mix of mental and pshyisical fucked up.

She wouldnt be horrified.
She doesnt have that emotional capability anymore.

The Watcher tried to save her, IMO. Welp, what comes around, goes around...

What if the watcher wanted that to happen?

Well put, and same with the smile. It's a weird feeling of a combination of pity and "that's what you get". There is nothing more satisfying than something happening and having actual believable consequences. It's 10x more so when she's taken so much glee from it. Simply poetic.
The inquisitor was right on the money, one. He doesnt make mistakes, two, a drop of mercy.

The ending is really something. Getting killed and eaten by the crew she denied rations to is really nothing short of poetic
@Alcid he was trying to deny the W Chaos Gods worshippers by denying them as being gods.
If you can take a look at the space wolves fighting back against the inquisition after the War for Armageddon. I had thought that the wolves were just the executioners of the emperor, they do the imperiums bidding without question but this showed them in a different light
I'd rather just live as a Tau guy.
@@midorian12491 nah fam. Be a merchant.

This is thursday in 40k standards my man
Am I misunderstanding this correctly, in the end her own missfilings that undoubtably caused the cannibalism onboard the imperial vessel that agreed to board her is what led to the men deciding to kill her and eat her?
it is at least implied so yes
I don't really understand her motivation, other than the fact she may have gone insane from the job/warp storm/ watcher
An additional horror twist to the plot could be that the very warp storm that started it all was caused by all the tormented souls of those who died due Greta's actions, dragged through Immaterium until they gather around K4 to have its final revenge (and sure they did)

Yea, things that can be killed with a gun is less scary that the unknown.
I don''t think it's just those three, but they are the three biggest and most well-known.
Btw there are 4 chaos gods.

Are there any more warhammer audio books like this? The narrative voice acting and sound effects happening in the background are insane
Ya there were 2 other spooky ones I know of "a way out" and "predition's flame" "the wicked and the damned is also fantastic. More of a traditional audio book. But very creepy
I like how he tells these stories. I hope Wes makes more videos like this.
How poetic. Her undoing was her actions.
Please try to do more of these in the future. There's so many books about 40k and I genuinely struggle to find a place to start. This was incredible. One of the darkest stories I've ever heard and it was amazing.
I'm pretty new to 40k and I owe it to you and your short videos. I'm fully sold on this beautifully deep world and all the fantastic lore. And I still have to say that you're the best of the lore video producers I've found. Keep up the great work Wes. Thanks
I understand the Imperium can be a harsh mistress but I didn't know survival cannibalism was an executable offense.
(there's enough diseases in the universe from Nurgle already, no need to give him more inspiration)
Whereas corpse-starch/soylens viridians is probably processed through methods that remove all chance of prion disease and the multitude of issues cannibalism brings to those who practice it.
@@MegaGullas this is likely
It's funny how some of our favourite bois can absorb memories by eating people. Maybe big E wanted to discourage other people from unlocking that skill. Seems dangerous.
This retelling was great I listen to your video on “A way out” first and had to watch this one next. Both were great stories, I love these kind of space horror stories. I’d love to see other 40k horror retellings on this channel!
Can we please have more stories like this? You are the best horror story narrator.
Outstanding
"An unlikely pair." I see one of these two can punch boulders for a living.
That last plot twist was just such a satisfying ending.
love your videos. I have never played Warhammer 40k but love it's world and lore. Your video really help me know more.
I love how it just further justifies execution for a mistake made by Gretta, but it is the structure of the imperium and how easily exploited by Chao that drove her into a power craze. Gonna give this book a read! Thanks for sharing !
Don't think Chaos had anything to do with this.
I love how even in the Warhammer universe, people still don't understand names, knowledge and awareness is dangerous.
Oh some of them do. They know that an open mind is a fortress with its gates unbarred and unguarded. Blessed is the mind too small for doubt...
@@user-tu2dh5ro7i talk about what they aren't.
@@samuraix195 interesting solution
I’m new to the whole Warhammer community, and I really enjoy your channel and how you explain everything!!!
Thank you very much sir!!!
Oh damn, that ending. This was such a good story.
These cosmic horror stories are awesome to say the least. The horrors of the warp are numerous and constant.
Or when she smiled, I thought she was going to ask "do you see me?"
Still a good ending tho
How very fitting to illustrate that the galaxy’s inhabitants are what makes it so horrific, everything else is merely a dark mirror
Disembodied Foreshadow: 'Willll you ssssee meeeee?'
Adeptus Quirky-Not-Like-The-Other-Scribes: 'I see nothing!'
Interigatus Tunnel-Vision: 'Reveal... your secrets.'
Random Ouija Servo Skull: 'You're all going to die down here.'
Mischievous Spooky Voice: 'Enemiessss offf the Hhhheirr, Beware!!'
It was at that point the awkward girl realized things just got so much worse than mere Chaos fuckery. She knew that hissing voice seemed familiar.
😆😆😆😆
Horror stories from 40k are amazing 👏
this was a great listen on a rainy train trip back home, first time I didn't fall asleep on a train ride. I wish Black Library makes more stories like this.
The R in macabre is not only silent, but not placed where you enunciated it in the word.
Fantastic! Please do more stories like this; no necessarily horror, though that's fun too, just great 40k stories we don't hear as often.
To be fair it _is_ possible to put into words the sheer horror, it's just that it's taken hundreds of books and tens of thousands of hours of work 😅
sometimes saying less explains more
This video made me sub to the channel. I had no clue that Warhammer 40K Horror was a thing, let alone a thing done well, until watching this. What makes it such an amazing work of horror is how the genuinely supernatural threat pales in comparison to the existential horrors of the Imperium. It fits perfectly within the context of the 40K universe and has me wanting to see more and you do an amazing job of relating them. Please do more videos on this lore branch. They're great!
So Chris Redfield and Little Red Riding Hood team up in a 40K story? Sweet
No story could show more pain and madness brought by an society with no care for the people
This was amazingly well done, loved it! I work in admin, hearing her madness from the lack of consequences and the inertia of it all hit quite close to home 😂
warhammer have such a wonderous fertile soil for horror story , between the diverse aliens sepcies, the horror of the warp , and simply the madness of mankind .
and to me this creature was simply the burden of guilt being manifested by the power of the warp storm, emotion and feeling are litteraly multiplied by the warp.
Good story, probably will going to check for this category .
I like the blend of portraits created by the fading transition at 22:25.
I love these types of stories in Warhammer & 40k - it's great to hear them, being narrated aloud
This was brilliant and I hope you do more. The voice acting along with the music and visuals are a fantastic creative touch.
Are there other stories similar to this in the Warhammer Horror that you'd recommend?
Ya the wicked and the damned is a great collection. Actually if you go to black library .com, there's a whole Warhammer horror section
Ahhh amazing, i love these short stories in 40k :D
What I love about Warhammer 40k is the way we get a perfect blend of Sci-Fi,Fantasy and Horror....
This has to be the best horror story I've ever heard in my life, the voicing, the pace, the thoughts, its beautiful
I'm new to 40k, and you sir are a God-Emperor send. You're very talented. Thank you for the awesome work.
This is by far one of the best stories I have ever heard from Warhammer.
I still need to hear your opinion on the canonical return of the Squats.
I'm working on a deep dive of them! Normally when I make those, I really prefer to have a couple of novels under my belt, but we unfortunately don't have any of those yet and I don't know when they're going to be coming out with some 😅
