Another reference for all of you around the 180 lbs. I use the the next size up on the Omen Flux, the 60L. It has great design characteristics for integration with Foil Drive and is really easy to get on foil and recover from touch downs when on foil. I am 180 lbs, 5'9 and use most of the Axis Spitfire wings in surf/wave conditions.
Hello, To be honest I think it has a lot to do with ability before Foil Drive. Although the 48 liter was amazing for getting up it wasn't as surfy as other boards out there. So I would really think about your ability and what you're using it for. Volume is certainly your friend but more so length is best from what I have experienced and have researched. Example: I used a FD with a 4'4 at 30 liters and could barely keep the nose down to get it to plane. I will have a longer format review of the Foil Drive system soon and then going more into other boards/foils in the future as well. Just ,are sure to subscribe and keep a look out. Thanks for watching, Dave @theliftjournal
I really like your video. Again one of the most important topics when using Foildrive I think. Which board to use? I think it might help people to save money if they see videos like yours! I've gone through 5boards😅😵💫🤑learning on Foildrive. I don't want to sound too smart because you obviously have a great background on Foilsurfing and analysing boards. Let me add from my much reduced horizon in only Foildriving like an addict though😅. I've just recently discovered that length and little rocker beats volume of the board. Yes they do say that in Foildrive videos! 😊And it's true. I could not believe that they were succeding with 30l prone boards. I've coincidentally tried my 2019 Kite Foil Board 4'10" 18.5" 2.5" 30l. And I am soooo stoked how easy it starts and forgiving it is. A bit wider nose. You do however increase the swing weight putting the mast further back..I wanna say. And I skipped the shimming since it would just make the nose climb up to much starting. I tried to get almost as far forward with the mast position as when foiling without Foildrive. If you wanna do more snappy turns...try the Foildrive Slim 15cm cable length. It's like having no Foildrive attached. Pumping gets much better and no swing weight . I thought I needed volume but now I now it's a lot about the rocker, the nose..the volume distribution 😂..as you pointed out in another video. I'm a fan. 😎 Stefan
All opinions on this subject count and with my two weeks on FD my opinions on boards can change quick. I am looking to get a smaller board with around the same length but less volume. The swing weight side of things is a real tricky one but am going to try to fool around with it more. In my non hybrid foiling my mast is pushed probably a little further back for a little extra snap in turns. But not sure if the same rules apply with attaching a motor and battery. I am going to be working on some tips and tricks with my FD experience including mast placement and trigger use. I appreciate you enjoying the content and much more on the way.
Great breakdown of the gear Dave 🤙

Thanks for chiming in.
Stoked to see you using the FD to pull into those waves!
Thank you, it has totally changed my sessions. More time on foil because of the ability to foil a non breaking wave.
Welcome to the FD fam, homie 😎 🤙
Hello and thank you for this review, what volume and size would you recommend for a weight of 163..? Beginner foil drive
🤙

How does it go in 36 L?
More than 5000 euros for a battery and a small electric motor 🤔
It's not for everyone. but its for me
