This video shows how to properly change your oil explains the different types of oil and what they are used for and answer many of questions by my viewers
@@2strokeguruHia kevin, does it need to be running to check if the oil pumps pumping oil, on mine it seems to have a jet behind the carb so it basically dribbles oil into the petrol vapour that comes through the carb, is that normal its got me confused as every vid ive watched has it running to the carb, its one of the first ke 1974 on the v5 even though it says online they werent made then, any advice i really appreciate, one good thing about youtube it gives access to old heads full of knowledge🙏😉
Thanks buddy! Was wondering why there was no dipstick lol. My bike recently seems like there is alot of engine vibration. Not smooth like it use to be. Just seems like it’s rough and vibrates. The engine runs good though. It runs good but the vibration seems to be coming from the head. Not positive though
So I just pulled the oil plug and about a quart of oil came out with the bike on it’s kickstand. The oil was very runny. Kinda like the consistency of hot cocoa. That can’t be good. Maybe fuel is leaking through the gasket into the crankcase??
Kevin Bergeron yeah, I found the screw thanks to your video. But the oil was not thick. Very runny. Maybe it was overfilled because a ton of it came out when removing that small screw by the kickstarter. I will just drain it all and put in fresh oil. Thanks!!
When I had my ke I used Honda 2 stroke gear oil. Non synthetic. Could you just use standard motor oil non motorcycle specific like car oil that's the correct viscosity.
KEVIN good info,. got a 75 i cant get running ,got good spark, compression, new carb. open exhaust but not running. 3 people have looked at it and still nothing help
Synthetic is fine. What you are using is incorrect. Conventional car oil is not good unless it does not have friction modifiers. Look at the round seal on the container - if it says energy conserving in the lower part of the circle, DO NOT USE IT. THAT is what ruins clutches. Nothing to do with synthetic.
Just picked up my first KE100 (2001) and was wanting to do an oil change...if I'm using conventional 10-30 motor oil do I HAVE to use an additive with it? Or would just the oil be ok?
Hey Kevin, the bolt head on my KH100 transmission drain plug broke off from the threads. Is there any way I can get the stuck threading out other than extracting it?
Hey Kevin was wondering when changing the oil should the bike be on the kickstand to get the right oil level? Or should the bike be level to get the right oil level thanks!
Hey Kevin. I got an '88 KE100 that won't fire. Ignition coil is new, spark plug is new. When kicked it has good compression. I'm thinking it has to do with the flywheel, the points etc. What do you recommend I do?
@@2strokeguru Also... What puller should I get? And where do you recommend buying parts from? Sorry, I'm brand new to this. Only engine I've worked on is my chainsaw.
Yes i know its not recommended for this application there is brass bushings small needle bearing that require conventional oil not to mention the small 4 disk clutch used in the kd km ke g3 g4 and g5 are NOT designed for synthetic oil regardless of additive ITS NOT A MOTORCROSS BIKE
Thanks Kevin! Your videos on the KE100s have been very helpful in getting my old bike running. Keep up the good work!
Thank you

Thank you so much for making this video! Was very helpful when I was working on my own KE 100😃 💯
Very welcome happy to help
Another good vid.
thank you
Hey man this was a super helpful video thanks

cool Kevin its Informative
Thanks you
This was so informative thank you

So it’s a 2 stroke. But it also takes 4 stroke oil? I have a DT50, so I understand the fuel part. But am I right?

there is a plug next to the kick starter if oil comes out its full the reason no dip stick because it would hit the clutch

Thanks for the info. I'm assuming my 74 Suzuki Ts100 is mostly the same
Yes it is i will be working on Suzuki ts125
Wish you're closer to CA. I can't make my '79 run right :(.
Great Video Haven't worked on my KE 100 for 15 years. Will you show us how to chnge a tube, or tire?? You do a great job. TOM
Yes I have tubes I have to do on the Yamaha DT400
Thank you

Where are you located
Just got one that has been sitting in a garage since 1980 with 1738 miles. Im learning a lot on these. How often should the oil change be performed?
Hey ! Thanks for the video . Do you know where I can find parts for a ke ? I can’t find any rebuild kits or anything .

No just regular 10w30 non synthetic
I need to know what oil to use for 1978 ke125 and how much in liters does it take
Hey Kevin, the bolt head on my KH100 transmission drain plug broke off from the threads. Is there any way I can get the stuck threading out other than extracting it?
You can use a dremal and put a Grove in the broken piece the use a flat blade screw driver see if you can take it out
what is the bolt on the other side of engine in lne with oil filler plug?
do you get your tires online, if so what website?
I just bought a 1977 yellow KE100 yesterday 2400 miles on it but the front forks look pitted
Left outside
I have a 77 km what type of oil should I use for my gear box
Regular non synthetic 10w40
Hey Kevin was wondering when changing the oil should the bike be on the kickstand to get the right oil level? Or should the bike be level to get the right oil level thanks!
Should be straight up not leaning
@@2strokeguru Thanks!!! About to give it a first start tomorrow after 9-10 years!
@@nicholaszook9882 that's awesome
How often should that oil be changed?
Yearly
Hi kevin, just bought a 92 starts right away but fouls the plug nearly immediately plug looks wet and black oil pump is new and adjusted any ideas?
Sounds like the exhaust baffle is clogged
Thanks should i try to run it without the baffle to see if it does the same thing or i need the baffle in place for it to run properly?
@@louistremblay4014 no because it will create a lean condition
Right so clean/replace the packing a try it again?

Ignition coil doesn't go bad replace points and condenser

@@CrimsonYetiCartoons on ebay type in ke100 flywheel puller they are around 20 dollars
They make a fully synthetic 10w30 atv oil with wet clutch additive
Yes i know its not recommended for this application there is brass bushings small needle bearing that require conventional oil not to mention the small 4 disk clutch used in the kd km ke g3 g4 and g5 are NOT designed for synthetic oil regardless of additive ITS NOT A MOTORCROSS BIKE
@@2strokeguru I know i just thought it was funny how you almost mention it ive been having trouble conventional oil that isn't synthetic
Why does my bike die ever time I get rained on or got thru a puddle...(looses spark)
Missing or broken gasket on magneto water is getting to the points
Any synthetic oil is bad for wet clutch designs, and one should never add an oil agent to it, like motorkote.
