Sailing sailboat BOAT WORK BLUNDERS cont.
It is always slightly worrying to see Rob with a drill in his hand. Though he is a very capable handy man, he does like to throw himself into a project without thinking it through, like the time……..well how much time do you have?
At last we get Javelot back in the water and take her for a wee blast down to Urquharts Bay at the mouth of the Whangarei Harbour to stretch her legs and our own. Then it was back to the realities of life, a blocked toilet, which is always a joy to work on.
The countdown is now almost complete. The boat begins to sparkle as Declan and Ivan scrub away all the dirty marks on deck. Then Finn and Rachel partake in a three hour supermarket shop of the essentials chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate.
Finally all that’s left to do is welcome the two additional crew members we are taking with us on our sail to Fiji: Josh Lyon, a young adventurer, who has sailed an ocean with us before and Mike Moss our local organic farmer, testing his limits. Can he really endure 8 to 10 days at sea in a cramped space with the Hamills? Only time will tell.
A big thank you to the talented artists who have allowed us to use their music.
    In this episode
    Cricket Farm - Bending spoons
Gideon Irving - Blueberry pie www.mynameisgideon.com
    The Nukes - Lemon Tree
Looking for Alaska - Take me with you
And to Paula Hudson from Te Pahu Sound Lounge for making the music happen.
Vinaka vaka levu to Josh Lyon. You are the wind in our sails!
Mike Moss for feeling the fear and doing it anyway.
Kevin Biggar for his words of encouragement
    Thanks for watching
Rob, Rachel, Finn, Declan and Ivan Hamill

Ivan said a classic talking about moving up the ranks on board: I’m going to start at the bottom, work my way along the bottom and finish up at the bottom.... :) Cracked us up.

Check out his genius response when the toilet is fixed and an apology is made for the false accusation of blocking it. I think Ep5 or6.

Super dadding there - make him fix what he breaks because if you don't, he'll just keep doing it. Respect.

Thanks HyperCazual, well some one has to fix it so might as well let the culprit at least give it a go. I'm assuming you are referring to the toilet which turns into a bit of a saga as you will see in the next couple of episodes. Enjoy!

Okay, I cheated: a fourth Cruising Kiwis in one day. And the adventure begins.
Your reservations about editing and sound are keeping in character (humorously self-efacing). BUT! It doesn't matter -- the content is so good.
    Regards as always, Daniel Wardin

    Ah Hi Rob.
Those gauges are made to flush mount From the outside of the dash, they are 3 inchs and push through from the wheel side with the black surround already attached to them to make a neat finish. There is even an attaching bracket you put behind the dash to secure the gauge in place, but hey your boat and what you did worked. Google is your friend.
Have you never mounted one of these to an old when you were young.
    Regards.
    David. Down Under.

Thanks for watching David and for your advice. Unfortunately the gauges were supplied by a guy who serviced our engines. What you see is all I got. Left to my own devices I had to get creative. I did try them on the wheel side but without the correct mounts they looked worse then the finished article.

Just started following you from the beginning after hearing about you from Zatara. Looking forward to following your journey. I lived in NZ for a short time back in ‘72 and had another visit in 2009. Love NZ! Had a flashback while watching you grocery shop, NZ has the best fruit flavoured licorice allsorts and we do get the large Whittaker’s chocolate bars in Canada now.

You might be hot and you might be a mess, but are you a hot mess? My daughter says this often in her and her family style of living.
"Hot mess" is used to describe a particularly disorganized person or chaotic situation. In some uses, a person described as a hot mess is attractive but just barely keeping it together.
