I've never heard or seen a live performance of this song that comes anywhere close to the beauty of the recorded version.
+hickoryhop Yup, time and time again I am disappointed and shocked from poor live performances, this one is no different (altough the singing is one of the worst I've heard).
Me neither,it sounds awesome,In 2010,2011 and 2012,they played like they wanted to sound more live! I love all live versions of Black hole sun,but this is special,it's sounds like a studio version
hickoryhop yea i was thinking the same thing, I've looked all over and their live version is so flat and unenthusiastic. I've heard they hate this song and never wanted to release it but that just sounds like one of those pretentious moments where artists criticise the song that made them iconic... like fuck though... it's the song that lead many people to become soundgarden fans, play it properly for them.

I love the song and I miss Chris. when this song was number one on the radio, I was 13 and was in a boat accident. My foot was cut off. On the way to the emergency room the only thing I remember was this song on the radio. It helped me stay awake. Thanks Chris and why’d you do it.

Everyone hating on the song, but I actually prefer this over the recorded studio version. The slow tempo gives it such a melacholic and lost feeling, and even though Chris said there wasn't any real meaning behind this song, he did say that it definitely wasn't supposed to be happy or optimistic, so I think a slower tempo like this actually makes sense..
The true meaning is for the world to just end and be washed away and for everything to end bc somehow that’s how people feel

That very first three words of the song "in my eyes" are without a doubt the hardest part of the song by far. (if you're singing the official studio version). I wonder how many times it took Chris to hit it just rather right in the final version. I love watching all the live versions of this song, just to see how he navigates the first three words, and of course, I love the song and he has the most beautiful voice I ever heard

At least Kim didn't saturate this performance with heavy effects ( chorus and tremolo)in each verse , so this is close to the studio version ( kind of slow though)
