This is performed during a memorial concert in the Netherlands on "de Grebbeberg". There is a Dutch Military Cemetery: Every year since 1946 in the first week of May there are a lot of those concerts in our Country in remembrance of all those men, women, boys and girls who have given their lives for our freedom during and since WWII. And Emma is a singer who is perfectly capable to covey the emotions of any song to us. This is also one of the very few video's you can really see how much her condition has hindered her growth.... And although this is a traditional Hymn: these lyrics are fitting so well to Emma's situation as well. Emma did a few performances with this military orchestra this year, not only here, but in other places as well. On two other Memorial occasions Emma did perform the wonderful "Father" from Demi Lovato. They are both different and both worth to watch/listen to. The video with the worst sound quality (Emma in white outfit) is very emotional. So much so, that the "sound man" (right on the screen) almost collapsed...
But also once a year on the cemetery in Margraten where about 7000 American soldiers are buried from WW2 . These concerts are in september each year. Emma did her songs in 2023 also with the Royal Military Orchestra Johan Willem Friso. (KMKJWF) ua-cam.com/video/iYVEIXwNmT8/v-deo.html
Emma has currently performed several times with the Royal Military Band Johan Willem Friso. Named after Johan Willem Friso, he was Prince of Nassau-Dietz, Prince of Orange and Stadtholder of Friesland and Groningen. [14 Aug. 1687- 17 July 1711] This always in commemoration of WW2, including fallen American soldiers WW2 In Margraten, South Netherlands with 8200 fallen soldiers ... There she sang Hero, and Father. In Amsterdam during the National Liberation of the Netherlands together with April Darby with .... when you believe. Then in the battle for The Hague with Father Also afterwards at the commemoration of the fallen Dutch soldiers on the Grebbeberg with You raise me up [this video] and finally in Assen at the TT where she sang the Dutch national anthem. All this with the same Military Band.
Emma sang this last year also but with a male singer who did the second vers (with the lower voice). It's a guess, but I think that this setup was changed in the last minute this year because you can see Emna reading the notes or text while she is singing the second vers on her own. And she managed to let it sound much better than last year. Not only Emma is a beautiful girl, and out of this world singer, she is also a real professional ❤❤.
Thank you for a thoughtful reaction to a different performance by Emma, one of a number she did with this orchestra during the last year, she was very much honoured to be invited to sing in these special events, and Emma has been very visible in being a part of commemorating the huge number of lives lost liberating the Netherlands from German Occupation in WWII, she very much wants to support the objective of preventing yet another war in Europe. The suit she was wearing was also seen in the performance she did in Amsterdam, with the Dutch Royal family and many high ranking politicians present, it's on UA-cam , ua-cam.com/video/YG8WV1GFt_c/v-deo.html For me, from a different concert that was part of the same comemmoration series, her outstanding performance was her cover of a Demi Levato song, 'Father', an incredibly emotional song, and she sang it with a lot of power, ua-cam.com/video/zXWBj7-edWU/v-deo.html This event was also in the middle of concerts with Andre Rieu in Ireland and the UK, she has several weeks of intense travel in order to do all the events she was booked for, and having heard her live in Dublin only two days later, she absolutely excelled, very much as she did with Dancing on the Stars, and yes, that song was written 20 years ago, and never before performed, and it was very evident when Emma sang it that the author was also very much impressed with the way that Andre and Emma performed it, and it is already close to 4 million views on UA-cam, so clearly attracting a lot of attention, and rightly so. Two other songs that Emma has released have had significant involvement from this author, TJ Oosterhaus, Emma's first single, LAAT MIJ EEN VLINDER ZIJN , let me be a butterfly, ua-cam.com/video/Zcxan9R5s4E/v-deo.html There's a moment of deep emotion between 2:15 to 2:22, where she's expressing her desperate desire to be free, to no longer have to live with the daily torture of 22 hours attached to the 2 pumps that push liquid food into her stomach and intestines, keeping her alive, as she's singing the words, 'if only for a day, or even for a count of 10, I'd just like to live as another', and as she sings those words, her head goes down, there's a gentle shake of her head, and her eyes close before she goes silent, and the reality of her situation sinks in, for now, there can be no change, there is no cure. Then, after a few moments of silence, she makes that all important decision that's her driving force, she is NOT going to allow Gastroparesis to define her life, she is going to live as normal a life as is possible, and with that, her head comes up, she starts singing again, and rises to a new high top note, effectively making it so clear, this IS her life, and she is going to live it in the best way she can. Her second recorded, also is along the same theme, Stridjer, Warrior, this one has English subtitles, which helps ua-cam.com/video/e2em5mVtZmQ/v-deo.html There's plenty of choice on UA-cam, and other social media that shows the wide range of songs that Emma has performed, but I will close with my normal sign off, perhaps in many ways the most important part of my comments, because I make no apologies for very actively and almost aggressively promoting Emma's foundation, started with her winning prize money from Ministars in 2023, the site can be found at Gastrostars.nl Emma deserves and needs as much support as possible, as her foundation works to help find better treatments, or even possibly a cure for this awful disease, her foundation is almost unique in terms of the work they are doing, there's been very little research into what is a devastating illness, the effects on the sufferers are huge, and her situation hasn't changed since that first appearance with Andre last July, she is still tied to her two external feeding pumps for 22 hours a day, and I know from very recent social media posts, she finds that hard to cope with at times, despite that she's loving the singing with Andre. Please, if at all possible, join me in making a (regular) contribution to her foundation, to enable them to help patients like Emma, and research this awful disease that has affected her from birth, and required her to be tied to the pumps and feeding tubes since she was 9 MONTHS old, for 22 hours a day, hopefully, the work of her foundation will find a cure. Please also be very careful if you post or respond to anything from Emma on social media, her increased visibility has resulted in significant numbers of bad actors creating fake accounts, and looking for money to fund 'special operations', or to get access to fan web sales or VIP event tickets on payment of a significant initial membership fee, they are ALL fake, the ONLY valid web site that supports Emma and others like her is the gastrostars site, and she NEVER makes private message appeals for donations or support, and NEVER sends private messages or similar asking you to make contact, or log on to an external site to claim the wonderful prize you've won, they are all fake and fraudulent. One of the main people in Gastrostars is a surgeon who has a lot of experience in treating gastroparesis, and she is not only a surgeon, but also suffers from the same disease herself, to the extent that as a result of her condition worsening, she's had to leave her role in the hospital, and she is now dedicated to the foundation, and working to help find possible new treatments, or even better the cure that will free people like Emma to live a more normal life, rather than be tied to the feeding pumps for so many hours every day. It will be so good if the work of Emma's foundation can lead to a better treatment, or even a cure, which will free her to do more singing, and it may be people here who make that possible.
Here in the Netherlands there is a saying "dreams are deception". But... as you see this 9 minutes long video (with proper English subtitles!!) there is at last one person on this planet who will completely disagree with that. And rightly so. Most of this is recorded in november 2021 (Emma was 13 at the time). The last part is recorded last year, after Emma had her first performances with André Rieu. It starts with a song: listen to the lyrics carefully, so sad to hear that from a teenager.... but it fits perfectly with Emma's history. And the host of this show is well known here in the Netherlands. He knows how to interview young people! This is the link: ua-cam.com/video/EyoPvJVukXU/v-deo.htmlsi=xCnd_wLtclXF14DC
Thanks for your reactio I like it. As to the song: It was composed by Rolf Løvland The lyrics are from Brendon Graham. It was first performed by the group Secret Garden in 2001 and in 2005 by Westlife at the NobelPrize concert. Greetz Jacques
Emotional rendition. Great vocals. What an amazing way to honor soldiers.
Thank’s for your reaction. I think the singing of Emma is real sublime ❤😢💫👋🎤🎶
