This is my favourite boss fight. Throughout the game Darius was hyped up so much. Every tablet we read showed us what a great king Darius was, and how much good he did. Indeed, the label "King of Kings" was entirely justified by this point in the game, and the inhuman size of King Darius and his roaring voice are surprising yet somehow expected, given what we know about this character. What's sad is that Darius is genuinely a great guy who didn't deserve anything that happened to him or his son. And yet, here we are, playing as the son of the woman who betrayed him, fighting the legendary King of Kings, even though we don't want to. Even Ahura Mazda believes King Darius is the righteous, as he is given Atash, the Sacred Fire. This fight invokes vast emotions for the player.
tuongthathu5143 When we speak to the Hermit (the guy who gives us the climbing challenge to get the three balls or whatever), he reveals that the babies were swapped when they were very young. So Sargon is Thomyris's son, and in all likelihood Ghassan is Orod's son (though the only evidence for this that I know of is the presumed foreshadowing by Orod himself at the start of the game). This is why the prophecy refers to _three Princes_: 1. Vahram, son of King Darius 2. Sargon, son of fake Queen Thomyris 3. Ghassan, fake son of fake Queen Thomyris
@@tuongthathu5143 Apart from the impossible climb like the above comment mentioned, you can also find the same information from completing the Prophecy of Mount Qaf quest.
that's weird, because I have 100% in the game and never face her (only pick a lore item where she blame Sargon for all the attention he draws from Varham as a favorite
To me, the 2nd fight with Vahram was harder, he's getting bloody quick to the end of it, I died several times with him having measly amounts of hp remaining. Old man, on the other man, is slow as hell, and once you get the grasp of his patterns, each of his attacks is pretty easy to dodge. Took me about 10 tries to defeat him though (in my defense, I'm playing on hard mode even though it's my first time with the game), don't remember how many tries I had with Vahram after saving Ghassan, but it took a great deal of concentration, well timed attacks/dodges and shear luck to take him down, frustrating fight overall. Darius fight's truly epic though, especially him asking Ahura Mazda to lend him strength, and he as a character is pretty intimidating, that's why I'm re-watching it.
This fight was frustrating because of that final grab he does that eats your health. Every boss in the game having one of those cutscene attacks got so stale for me. That’s my only gripe with the game.
Especially considering that you can do nothing except for watching your healthbar depleted. Makes it more rewarding to dodge or counter these beforehand though.
Darius was by all accounts a peaceful ruler compared to his predecessor. Also Thomyris is the one who caused Persia to suffer for 3 whole decades and is a tyrant, she murders or imprisons anyone for the slightest affront and at best are made servants of her, as seen with some of Ardashir's men, who hated her. She even imprisoned at Mt.Qaf her doctor for rightfully pointing out that she switched her child after his birth for unknown reasons...that child being Sargon.
Man the boss fights in this game are so epic and cinematic
Shame more people aren't playing/praising it
Congratulations on being the first UA-camr to actually parry Darius' final charge.
I know right. That looked so epic
I tried , I’m here for that 😂😂 (beat the game but wanna see the animation)
No better feeling than finishing a boss fight with a parry. 🔥
I kind of loved this boss battle. It definitely rewards you for figuring out the right timing and sequence of attacks. Cheers and rock on!
Dude is Vendrick form dark souls 2 and Slave Knight Gael from Dark Souls 3 combined
Darius:“I smell the blood of a traitor”
Me: Yeah, he just left…
Nope. It's sargon. There are rumors that sargon is tomyris's son.
@@pratiksengupta5336 not a rumor its canon . He is tomyris's son
I also finished the fight with the yellow parry, pretty epic
I actually look up the King Darius and he actually existed. He’s known as Darius I, or Darius the Great. Third king of Persia and father of Xerxes I.
He’s in the Bible too. Daniel chapter 6
Yes I'm Persian and he was a great Kung after Cyrus . Christians say jesus is lord but we say syrus is the lord and Darius is great
This is a historical fantasy. He never had a son named Vahram. And the Kushans rose only in 459 years after the game's events.
Yeah this dude definitely was inspired from Gael from Dark Souls
More like king vendric. He is the combination of Gael and Vendric
This is my favourite boss fight.

Ahura Mazda, lend me strength to defeat the current any% route. If we are the righteous, lend me Concubine Blueless, the sacred Skip!
you dont play as the son, you play as the body guard of the son

@@smathlax thanks, i just finished the sand jar quest line and gather that info for myself, pretty cool lore
It’s gotta be asked, how the hell did the queen kill this guy with a knife?
Surpise attack?
I know I'm late but I think when he was human he was just a weak old man. The queen could easily kill him.
@@melania105definitely not. She cheap-shotted him. On top of that we have no idea how strong the Queen is.
king of king shivers me
So weird to see this as a boss fight. In the 2000s series, the main trilogy, Darius was actually the Prince's mentor.
Any idea on what happened to that left out immortal radjen don't see her as a boss fight in any videos
Was wondering the same thing

KING DARIUS!!!
oh hey, it's a dark souls reference!
Vendrick and Gael called. They want their moveset back
In my opinion this was the hardest boss in the game, much harder than the final fight against Vahram which was surprisingly easy compared to this one.

this is like reverse gael, his phase 1 is gael's phase 2 and vice versa

Yo, this looks dope as all get-out!

This was easier than the previous boss fight...beat him second try. The things in the air make it really easy to dodge everything
It depends what amulets you've got.
Tomyris Just did the right thing to king Darius...to stop a war

No you are completely wrong. She is selfish selfcentred biatch.
What? Why are you making things up?
I would say the gameplay is not that bad.
