I remember when having my mk2 focus st, i got a custom made exhaust and lost powerr drastically. But when i had the standard exhaust with the straight pipe/decat,it felt as tho id gained some more power. Currently waiting to pick my r32 up,and excited to see what i can do with it sound wise.😊
I honestly don't know why people remove the front muffler instead of the rear, every time I've come across a car where the rear muffler is what was deleted, it's just like this car, the original sound, just more of it. I liked the before shots, but I love the after. This is almost like when you take a regular 996 Porsche and swap the exhaust for a 996 GT3 one
Fantastic video mate. I purchased a mk6 R 2nd hand rear exhaust whìch bolts on directly to the mk5 r32. It has no resonator. It was too loud so had to remap the flap on the muffler. Give it a go if you find a cheap unit and see what you think for another vid!
I've just done a resonator delete on mine (Exactly the same Mk5 R32). I was after more of a scream at the top end rather than a low down bassy tone. I couldn't be happier. Now going through tunnels is even more fun. I agree on the sound changes across the RPM range. I have note changes at precisely the same RPM levels. Cost me 80 quid to get it chopped off. There's really no need to get a Milltek system on this car IMO.
I had a Fiat 127 that we drove for fun on an ice track nearby, we fitted a straight pipe with no mufflers other than a cone motorcycle muffer on the tip xD It was mad, was spitting flames both from the carb and exhaust. I can imagine with a bigger engine than 900cc it´s nuts xD
Intresting video. I came here because I inspected two R32's on the same day and both had their front mufflers deleted, so I started investigating what's going on. Those two failed because of the missing mufflers. Potentially they could've been "modification inspected" and made legal, but there's no way they'd pass the modification inspection as the noise measurement is done at about 3750 1/min, as per the E-regulation 51. Now since you're an inspector too I have a question. By what methods are rust issues inspected in the UK? I mean stuff like control arms, sub frames and the body.

I was considering deleting the resonator from my CRX, but after some research it appears that doesn´t really improve the sound, just adds some awful noises xD
Am I the only person slightly underwhelmed with the new choice of car? Bentley, Maserati and even the V10 Tourareg were more interesting if perhaps less reliable 🤣
It’s certainly less prestigious, but I don’t really care 😂 the R32 was my 2021 car of the year for a reason, it’s brilliant. First car I’ve had which is all about the driver and not everyone else. I’ll definitely go prestige again in future, but for now I’m enjoying its outstanding all round package 👌
@@jc4778 Absolutely. And pending my ever changing tastes, there’s a chance my next motor might be something decidedly more brutal and flash, buy that’s a ways off for now and won’t replace the Golf, just something for fun. Manual gearbox, no traction control, widowmaking British fun 😜
I wanted a skoda superb v6 as my first car but couldn't find any so i brought a vw passat 3.2 v6 and i wanted it straight piped but haven't been able to find someone willing to do it

My 98 Mk3 vr6 , Did a cat delete w an Autotech exhaust , sounded amazing , very loud. Eventually went w a high flow cat 😺. R sounds good 👍

Thanks dude 🤙 and yeah the centre resonator is a popular delete, but it sounds to me like it mostly changes the higher end sound
Did a backbox delete on my old 4 series here in Ireland. Just said on the test "no backbox installed" passed no issues

It was just a random custom one for £100 on eBay. But as mentioned in this vid it wasn't an exact fit anyway so I can't fully recommend it

I didn't bother removing that to avoid motorway drone. Never felt I needed it after either, this was plenty loud and deep enough

They were an option from VW when new, but you can usually find them for sale used on VW forums and groups
